A STEP CLOSER to HITLER TYPE NATIONALIZED EDUCATION

As I discover or I am given leads to information that is rotten for America, especially when it comes to the education of our children, I can’t help but wonder how much more is out there waiting for the “ruination train” to pull into the station.

Change Agent ManToday we have Progressivism/Socialism being taught by teachers from kindergarten through college which in actuality is not teaching but indoctrination. It has been happening for years, but now the politicians and corporate giants are making BIG money from it. You will even see some cooperation between the 2 parties in relationship to this money pot called education.

Remember, the Republican Party came out with “no support” for the Common Core Standards but did NOTHING to stall, stop or defund anything that was linked to it.

Hitler would be proud of what has happened in America. The federal government, the unions and teaching colleges have done a number on education in America when you compare it to what he did with Hitler’s Youth. We aren’t there yet, but we certainly are close.

Hitlers children 2“From a sociological point of view, education is a process by which and through behavior changes are brought about in the individual in relation to the group in which he lives and comes into contact”. Looking at Nazi education through this sociological framework, one is better able to understand not only how Hitler rose to power, but how the sweeping changes he made to the educational system allowed for the systematic indoctrination of a nation.

Hitler’s system of education believed that a person who was less educated, but more physically healthy was of more value to the movement than someone who was intellectually strong but physically weak. They are called bullies! This rugged and mindless type of individual was considered to be the ideal candidate to forge into a tool for conquest and domination. To a young child, this sounds like a wonderful, controlling (on their part) way of life.

Brown Shirts

Brown Shirts are Blue(Remember, Obama has his own trained “BROWN shirts”). The shirts may not always be brown, but the message is there. Through the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), we have been given what Obama called for during his candidacy, a civilian homegrown army. What role are the children to play in this? These are not high school or college graduates but, those who have spent most of their lives playing kill games and watching kill & horror movies feeling no attachment to the end results. Do you really think they will hesitate to take a gun to their neighbors especially when they are young (16-24), no feelings, paid and made to feel important. Most of them are also very immature.

And the Federal government wants to talk about gun control? What about putting guns in the hands of these children to be used against their fellow Americans? They don’t want to arm teachers but will older students! Large populations of our children are so messed up they don’t know their right hand from their left. They certainly cannot make change in a store or answer a direct question in detail unless you give them multiple choice answers.

In Hitler’s schools intellectual development was not a priority. The curriculum privileged physical strength and robot-like obedience to Nazi ideologies was the priority. Academic studies were dominated by Nazi themes of racial struggle and German pride. Graduates would be the brutally efficient leaders of this new order.

Hitler understood that the most efficient way to unify Germany was through a new educational regime controlled by his new “government”. This system was based in a kind of multi-pronged fundamental revisionism.

Our politicians might begin to tread lightly since part of this new organizational movement eliminated all political parties and created a regime which had no political party, only underlings of Hitler’s choosing and a government which was not a government but a form of religion with Hitler as its God and the Nazi ideology as its Gospel.

Sounds like the groundwork for a New World Order.

Socialist, advocate of cradle to grave socialism, control freak and advocate of local control of education, Marc Tucker, has tried to destroy the education system in this country for years. He wrote the letter to Hillary laying out the groundwork for Bill Clinton’s School-to-Work Act and used an outcome-based education experiment around the country in the 80’s and 90’s which on every occasion failed miserably leaving their education systems in shambles. Tucker once said, “The United States will have to largely abandon the beloved emblem of American education: local control.”

Marc S TuckerMarc Tucker has posted several articles on the “Core Knowledge” curriculum blog endorsing the Common Core and Charter schools. My warning to some of you has been to repeatedly warn you about the use of Core Knowledge curriculum as a means of stating a charter school is teaching “Classical” education. How can they be teaching classical education if they are using Common Core aligned curriculums?

Bill Korach and Dr. Jerry Merckel of Florida have been traveling all over pushing Classical Charter schools especially Great Heart and those from the Barney Group of Hillsdale College. Both schools are using Core Knowledge and touting they are teaching “classical” education.

Merckel was a Univ. of Florida professor in the Engineering Dept. and was teaching a class on Venture Studies, conservative and a tea party supporter. He along with Bill Korach of Florida (Report Card) are laying out their new program that has been formed to help local groups form Classical Charter Schools in their community. Classical education is a good thing, but when you are basing your support on Charter School Management Companies using Core Knowledge it certainly is not.

Again, Charlotte Iserbyt, long time researcher and I will remind you “charters can and do operate outside of local control, citizen oversight, voter accountability, and parental scrutiny. Read here of another Charter school horror. A must read for all!

AlexanderCurrently we have Senator Lamar Alexander, who has forever, pushed for national control of our children through education, and is pushing through a new bill which is a Re-authorization of the ESEA. Understand, it is being amended, not presented as an amendment. This bill is on the fast track and is being scheduled to come out for a vote by the end of March. John Kline, chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee stated last week he plans to have that bill on the House floor by the end of March.

Reminding you that Alexander is very pro charter schools and cradle to grave 24/7 education stated last year he would propose sweeping VOUCHER legislation which could allow families to use their share of the federal funding – about $2,100 per student – for private school tuition, and tutoring, extra-curricular enrichment.

His plan is to give 11,000,000 students in poverty (again low-income) a voucher to go to “whatever accredited institution they want”. The $24B package only gives $2,100 per student. Of course the rest of the tuition will come from the “School District of Record” meaning about $100 Billion will “follow the child”. Don’t these legislators ever think maybe a middle class kid would like to go to whatever school they want to?

A Hand UpYou all know how I feel about the use of (low-income) strategies in the progressive move of our education system. I have found the attitude and actions of a “hand up” rather than a “hand out” goes further in building a child’s self-confidence, self-pride and motivation rather than keeping them in the “you can’t do it hole”

No the middle class parents get to work and pay for all the handouts!

Bottom line: the Alexander plan will destroy public education in the U.S.

Do not be fooled again – this is NOT a conservative plan, but a radical one. It will spend public dollars to backwoods churches, and ambitious entrepreneurs.

NO HIGH PERFORMING NATION IN THE WORLD HAS VOUCHERS.

Is there party collusion going on here? It can’t be true that some of the Republicans would be showing their Progressive side and be agreeing with Arne Duncan on anything. But they are!

Duncan is calling for repealing and replacing the No Child Left Behind federal education law and doing a significant rewrite of the federal education law, the most dramatic in 14 years. And I am sure you have figured out that if Duncan is in on this, Obama intends to sign it which certainly tells you this is NOT GOOD!

This past Monday, Duncan laid out his “principles” for rewriting the education law and insisted he would still have within that law the federal mandate that all students be tested in math and reading every year from third through eighth grade. The NCLB bill has been due for re-authorization since 2007.

You need to seriously question why this is such a priority for Alexander and why the groundwork to have the legislation passed through so quickly. With a new Republican controlled Senate and Duncan participation, it is sure to be put through.

Duncan has previously said that the law must be replaced, that it has “significant flaws,” that it’s “fundamentally broken” and that it has served as a “barrier to reform.” In August 2013, he said the law “is outmoded and constrains state and district efforts for innovation and reform.”

Strange how certain laws are great at times and not so good at others. Duncan and Obama found the NCLB to be very handy in basically blackmailing the states into applying for the waivers and RTTT grants and the proliferation of the Common Core standards.

Vouchers3Watch for vouchers to be in the bill since I have tried to explain to you to you on numerous occasions Charters/Choice/Vouchers are the leading way to take parents out of the overseeing of their children’s education. The only place parents have any control is in traditional public schools BECAUSE of the election of their school boards. In a private or charter school the only say you have if unhappy is to remove your child to another school.

Please take the time to read Anita Hoge’s analysis of this re-authorization as of yesterday.

You can be sure with Obama insisting the testing remain we are going to see more repeats under Common Core of the “cheating” scandals in Atlanta, D.C. and other districts around the country. When your well-being is being based on testing of JUNK curriculum and standards, it leaves the system wide open to cheating to make themselves look good.

Some of the remaining controversy inside the NCLB legislation is the “when and how” to testing and if the law supports good teaching. The encroachment of “Teach for America” within the brick and mortar of our schools is certainly not helping with any higher level of education especially under the indoctrination of the Common Core Standards. You can also bet they will use the wording “low-income children” as this is where they always claim they need to put the money, but all the money that has been used for “low-income” programs has not advanced anything especially the grades.

As Anita Hoge said, “This bill is pretty inclusive and has most of the agenda which was in both older bills HR 5 and SB 1094. This bill includes Title I money that will follow the child; expansion of charter schools, federal choice for public and private schools, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Intervention and supports, specialized student support, are all of the mental health agenda. It continues the data collection through IES (Institute of Education Sciences) which is really the National Center for Education Statistics longitudinal data collection, puts FERPA into federal law. On and on. At least we now know what is in it”.

Boot StrapsHold onto your boot straps as the education fight against Common Core was only the beginning. Trojan Horse that it is, it has distracted parents all over the country from everything else going on in the education of our children. Blogs have quieted down and research has come to a halt for the most part.

When you wage war on the public schools and our children, you’re attacking the mortar that holds the community together. You’re not a conservative; you’re a vandal and an elected or corporate crook.

FL Dept of Education & the Parents!

I present to you a wonderful writing by Dave Miller, a strong Florida Conservative explaining his experience in learning about Common Core from the so to speak “Leaders” of Florida!

My experience learning about Common Core from Education Leaders; Pasco County & Florida by Dave Miller October 7, 2013

nclbSeveral months ago I had the opportunity to present concerns about the Common Core Program to the Pasco County School Administration including school superintendent, Education Vice President and a member of the school board. One of the groups I belong to invited them in to hear about our concerns. My 25 minute presentation consisted of two parts and I explained this at the beginning of my talk. The first part described what we knew about the program and the second described our concerns based on what we knew. The presentation was politely listened to however it was clear by their comments that they had no clue about what is really going on with the Common Core Agenda, that they had already signed up for the program and did not want to know anything else – they had been brainwashed.

Then two months ago State Senator John Legg was a speaker at the Central Pasco Republican Club so I went to hear him talk. He said very little about Common Core and basically talked in circles; the only comment of significance that I can recall is him saying that “not all students will go to college”. He did not elaborate as to who would decide which students would and which would not go.

scandal 3Next I went to hear then School Chancellor Pam Stewart speak at the Republican Club in Tampa and she also praised Common Core but when I questioned her about the changes to Federal Privacy Laws allowing dissemination of student and family information, she seem to be completely unaware. However despite this lack of important knowledge for someone in her position, she was then promoted to Commissioner of Education.

Charter Choice 2Last month at a later meeting of the first group, John Legg was the invited Speaker. John Legg is a Florida State Senator and Committee Chairmen of the Education Committee so he is someone who should know what is going and we thought we could learn more from him. (John and his wife also own a couple of Charter Schools which of course is a conflict of interest for him.) John showed up with several copies of the standards and after wasting time rambling on about his religious upbringing he took questions but just kept talking in circles, pointing to a copy of the standards and saying that if we don’t like them show him what part we don’t like. He refused to give direct answers to questions causing one member to walk out and at one point he said to the audience “you know I don’t have to be here”. He also refused to allow an audience member who had travel far to hear him speak, speak. It was truly a disgusting performance and an inexcusable display of behavior for a public official. – Basically he refused to participate, public be dammed.

Next I went to hear School Superintendent Kurt Browning speak at the Wesley Chapel Republican Club two weeks ago and he spoke about the fact that Common Core was created by 48 states (which is just not true), that it is not a federal program and for people to not believe what they hear or read on the internet. This was his primary message; to not believe anyone else, just believe the government -and to think that he is responsible for education of all children in Pasco County. He talked about a few educational issues, about the need for critical thinking, how different students learn differently, and about competing in the Global Economy, but really gave no specifics about Common Core. He did mention however that he is going around Pasco County talking to groups to ‘promote’ the program and dispel incorrect information, and he handed out a color glossy brochure to the audience; not sure who paid for this. He took a few questions at the end but stopped when I raised my hand.

Before the meeting I did get a chance to personally speak to Amelia Larson and among other things reminded her that Pasco is graduating students who cannot read and write script and yet the administration is saying that they need higher standards. I asked her that if they can’t seem to teach students to the current standards which have been analyzed as being about as good as Common Core Standards, why did she think changing standards would help? She did not have a good answer for that; just talked about all the wonderful changes they are making and also that she did not think students needed to learn to write even though this left-right brain and hand-eye coordination skill has been taught for hundreds of years.

Apple wormsSo that’s where things are right now. Governor Scott has temporarily pulled Florida out of some involvement in PARCC, the group that Florida signed up to for the creation of the Federally Funded Test, and has directed the Commissioner of Education to have three hearings around the state, the first being in Tampa on October 15th at an inconvenient 5:00p start.

My advice to everyone:

Jeb Bush, his Private Charter School Organizations, and the $700M RTTT Grant seem to be driving the agenda. I have seen the videos of Jeb leading the Common Core effort and he makes it sound good. In addition the Florida Republican Party seems to be infested with ‘Bush Boys’ supporting him, so be careful and don’t go out into the bush alone….and you don’t have to as there are many websites to get information from so you can investigate this yourself!

Change Agent ManOtherwise just imagine what teaching could be like in the future; lessons scripted for each session, student doing assignments on their digital devices while ‘Master Teachers’ walk around with clipboards checking to see that the instructor (former teacher) is following orders and students are learning to adopt the proper attitudes and beliefs to be good Global Citizens as defined by the United Nations –or not do well on the assessments. This is just one scenario that might happen if you don’t get involved.

From the Editor of this Blog: This is the type of experience most parents/taxpayers are having in relation to the Common Core Standards. Unfortunately Florida has lost all control of their legislators as their allegiance is very apparent to be to Jeb Bush and his Foundation. “Whatever Jeb wants – Jeb Gets”!

Your state may be having some of the same problems – I certainly hope not. We have 2 State School Board members, 1 District School Superintendent, and several legislators along with our Commissioner of Education sitting on the “Reformers” slot of the Jeb Bush Foundation For Excellence in Education and the other legislators seem to not see anything wrong in that.

I believe their behavior is in fact partially because they know they are wrong and certainly will not admit it and the only place we are going to have to hold them accountable is at the ballot box.

This attitude in theirs in relation to the Common Core State Standards is in the same league as the legislation they passed on Sun Rail after the taxpayers voted against it twice in the majority – and they voted to put it through anyway.

You can bet your bottom dollar Representative Debbie Mayfield R- Dist 54) will be treated as Paula Dockery was when she stood up against them. Time to be sent to the broom closet but I would prefer it was all the other legislators since they are not LEGISLATING but RULING! Their actions are not much different from Obama’s only the title is different.

The arrogance of the Florida “powers to be” is out of control especially when it comes to all forms of education – most have not a clue what they are talking about!

Florida Using Undisbursed RTTT Funds To Settle Lawsuit!

Race To the Trough Well, well, well! Now the truth is going to come out! People of Florida have been led to believe that the State as a whole, could not opt out of Common Core Standards because FL had taken the money from the RTTT grant and it had been disbursed to the school districts. Our legislators lied to us!

Well – that is a truth and it is a lie! How can it be both? Because the 6 school districts that did get awarded funds from the Phase 2 grant which we found out was a drop in the bucket of that $700M dollars. What do I mean? I mean in the State of Florida’s report to the Federal DOE 2011-2012 (Florida Report Year 2: School Year 2011– 2012) clearly states they retained 98% of the funds because they knew the individual school districts did not have the funds to pay for this “boondoggle.” That would mean they held back somewhere in the neighborhood of $686M. Under “challenge’s” in the report “Although FDOE struggled with executing contracts in Year 1 and early Year 2, the focus is now on ensuring that the contractors are producing high quality “deliverable’s”. This is particularly important in Florida as 98 percent of the State’s portion of Race to the Top funds is budgeted for contracts. It is going nowhere near the school districts!

Now we find out the state, more accurately the Florida DOE and it’s Commissioner have been sued and are going to pay what they owe in that loss they are going to use the RTTT funds to do so. How can they do this? Because Bennett ask the brand new Department of Education Communications Director Joe Follick, (4-15-2013) if they could use that money and Follick in speaking for the state Department of Education, said the agency has determined that using the grant money for the settlement is allowed and Follick has refused to elaborate.

So who determined this is ok? The State’s legal eagle George Levesque? Another legal entity? Governor Scott? The state’s CFO? Maybe the FL State School Board who seems to have taken it upon themselves to approve the hiring of “throw-away Bennett” and approving the implementation of the Common Core Standards!

TIME FLORIDA STARTED ELECTING ITS COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION AND THE MEMBERS OF THE STATE SCHOOL BOARD!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Florida Using Federal Money To Settle Suit Over Website By GARY FINEOUT THE AP Thursday, May 23, 2013
TALLAHASSEE | Florida is dipping into federal grant money that was supposed to help improve the state’s schools in order to settle a bitter contract dispute. Education Commissioner Tony Bennett earlier this month agreed to settle a lawsuit filed against his department by a Tallahassee-based technology company.
The Department of Education is paying $1.25 million to Infinity Software Development. Infinity was hired to build a website intended to help students, parents and teachers master new academic standards.
But the deal ended acrimoniously with Infinity suing the state and the state terminating the contract. The money to build the website came from Florida’s $700 million Race to the Top federal grant, aimed at helping improve student achievement in the state. Before the contract was terminated, the state had already spent nearly $2.5 million on the project.
Joe Follick, a spokesman for the state Department of Education, said the agency has determined that using the grant money for the settlement is allowed. Follick refused on Thursday to elaborate. An Internet news operation, the Florida Current, reported Thursday the settlement had been approved.
The settlement not only includes a payment to Infinity — it also calls for the removal of the company’s name from a vendor complaint list maintained by the state. The president of Infinity did not return an email request for comment.
Florida’s effort to create the website as part of its education reforms dates back more than two years.
In early 2011, the state initially chose Microsoft to design and build the website. Infinity, however, challenged the contract by contending Microsoft should have been disqualified because the software company was unwilling to hand over ownership of the equipment and software to the state.
The state agreed to hire Infinity in July 2011, but it took until December of that year to sign a final contract. Emails obtained by The Associated Press showed that one point of disagreement was who should manage the contract.
Those emails showed that Steve MacNamara, then chief of staff for Gov. Rick Scott, was involved in a push to give the governor’s office the ability to resolve any disputes related to the contract.
Then-Education Commissioner Gerard Robinson in November 2011 wrote directly to MacNamara to protest “your desire to have another party manage the contract.” MacNamara told the AP last year that while Scott and Robinson met once to discuss the contract, he was “not involved in the negotiations” and left all discussions to his deputy chief of staff.
Months after the contract was finally signed, both sides were at an impasse. Florida officials complained that Infinity was behind schedule and had turned unacceptable lessons and tests in areas such as math, civics and biology. (Supposedly only math and ELA are supposed to be put into the schools at this time! krd)
Infinity in its lawsuit contended the delay in awarding the contract shortened the time to get the work done by 10 months and required the state to meet tight timelines to keep the project on schedule. Infinity officials maintained the department did not review the work in a timely fashion or failed to sign off on work done by the company. Infinity in September warned state officials about the problems and asked for at least $3.23 million to cover completed work. The letter stated that if lost profits were included, the total due Infinity was $4.5 million.
The bitter dispute leaves in limbo the fate of the Web-based system that was intended to provide practice lessons and tests for the standards that will be phased in for math, English, science and civics. The department said last year it would rebid the contract.
NOW – Education Commissioner Tony Bennett is mulling a reorganization of the state Department of Education http://www.news4jax.com/news/commissioner-may-reorganize-dept-of-education/-/475880/20243938/-/caacwd/-/index.html
I often wonder how much people really know about the members of the Florida State Board of Education. This group is not elected nor are they Educators yet they make decisions about policy that affect students and teachers in the state. They have the ability to “pull the trigger” and raise requirements or lower them as they see fit. This group also selects the education commissioner.
This group has pushed the diversion of more and more money away from regular public schools towards charters, virtual schools, private schools and testing companies. Why are the district superintendents (most of whom received no RTTT funds) and the district school boards supporting Common Core? Something is extremely strange about this whole thing!
How About A Quick Peek At 3 Of Our State School Board Members!
Kathleen Shanahan: Kathleen is the CEO of URETEK. The FLDOE website says she has a distinguished career in many fields (not education). She is a prominent Florida businesswoman with a long and distinguished background in politics and public service. She has held federal and state public policy positions of chief of staff for Fl. Governor Jeb Bush, chief of staff to Vice President-elect Dick Cheney, deputy secretary of the California Trade and Commerce Agency, special assistant to then Vice President George Bush, and staff assistant on President Reagan’s National Security Council. Ms. Shanahan currently is a board member of the Florida Council of 100, executive committee member of the Republican National Convention 2012, a fund-raiser for the Jeb Bush Foundation for Excellence in Education as well as being one of his “REFORMERS”.
Sally Bradshaw: worked for Gov. Haley Barbour and was an advisor to the Romney campaign in 2008. She served as a political advisor to G. H. Bush and was also a chief of staff to Jeb Bush.
Gary Chartrand: He is on the board of the Jacksonville Public Education Fund and a director on the board of the KIPP schools in Jacksonville, FL. (Charter consortium) He is also NOT an educator!
Is there a particular reason why the Florida State Board of Education has NO EDUCATORS serving on the board?
The mantra of this cabal has been to divert more money away from regular public schools and triple down on testing. The coming quadruple down with Common Core cements the shameful legacy of this group of dilettantes.
Additionally in the same report “RTTT Florida Report 2011-2012” emphasizes their 2014-2015 Charter School Plan “Florida is committed to supporting charter schools through its Race to the Top efforts. As such, the State has provided funding to encourage charter management organizations and charter operators to open 30 to 40 new charter schools across the State and provided additional funding to support a program for the development of
turnaround principals in charter schools, educator evaluations in charter schools, and CCSS and LIIS implementation in charter schools. Identified under Race to the Top and the School Improvement Grant as PLA, priority schools identified as part of the State’s approved Elementary and Secondary Education (ESEA) flexibility requests!”
“Florida is working with 17 charter school participants to provide training to aspiring turnaround principals. This work is being done in conjunction with the turnaround principal work (see Turning Around the Lowest-Achieving Schools). FDOE is in the early stages of its work with a vendor to provide training on educator evaluations in charter schools and is currently reviewing proposals from contractors to provide training on CCSS and LIIS implementation in charter schools.”
So if I read this correctly, Florida is using their RTTT funds to also pay individuals to train people to run Charter schools! Would we suppose they are part of the many Charter School Consortium’s also pushed by Jeb Bush?
You need to be asking the questions: “Why the big push for Charter Schools if all the schools in the end are going to have to go along with the Common Core Standards and the students to be robots?
Because – simply put – Charter Schools are part of the plan for the take-over of the Education system by the government! Never, ever forget the bottom line to Charter Schools – they use taxpayer funds and they are unelected boards which leaves Parents and taxpayers out the equation – you have no rights!
Now Florida Legislators and Powers To Be! Let’s be honest – just who are you working for? The children and teacher’s of Florida or those businesses and lobbyists who are packing your election coffers full as long as you “dance” to their “tune?”
Other Common Core States – you need to check out exactly what is happening in your states!
Stated in the report is what will be affected if we do not comply – section 80.43: http://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/text-idx?c=ecfr&SID=086932763f55a79ee96960031ae55099&rgn=div5&view=text&node=34:1.1.1.1.26&idno=34#34:1.1.1.1.26.1.129.4
Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Common Core Lies! Part 2
Parents Please wake up! Conservatives! Liberals! Democrats! Republicans! We must all work together in seeing what is being done to our Education system.
Common Core is the Name! Common Core Agenda is the Game!
CCS7Teaching our children that anything they wish a thing to be is OK is not right because it never teaches them the truth! The truth takes many forms and we can argue, think it through and research it – but bottom line – truth is truth. Just because you want 2+2=4 is not going to make it so – by raising two fingers on each hand you will know you can only have 4. Knowing your colors and knowing Black from White does not make the Snow black just because you say so! Truth is Still the Truth!
Our legislators and other powers to be never want to tell us the truth, their real agenda for America to become two parcels – the have and the have not’s – the lower class and the upper class – there is NO MIDDLE CLASS in their dreams.
A means to that purpose is the Common Core Standards – a ONE SIZE FITS ALL EDUCATION and at the same time Dumbing Down our children to “dream” things to be whatever they want them to be, no cursive, no literature, no American history, divide in the family structure and a “school-to-work mindset. It would be helpful if the powers to be would come to an agreement on how to do all this without constantly changing their minds.
As an example, on one hand they say Education should be focused toward the students being college ready and then on the other hand they say they know not all student’s are college material so now we need to make sure they know what they want to do for the rest of their lives upon leaving the 8th grade! Haven’t we known all this for years? (except for knowing their future at 13!)
FACTS CONCERNING THE COMMON CORE STANDARDS
* FICTION: It will institute a “better” system of standards.
* FACT: How this will be accomplished through the CCS has not been made clear to us who questions and there are many states which already have excellent standards and curriculum’s so if we wanted the country to go to something superior, why are we not using one of those rather than something written by a non-educator and a known Bill Ayers Marxist and paid for by Bill Gates? Notable scholars in Math and English Language Arts have voiced significant concerns about the rigor of the CCS.
Ultimately, how high or low you rate the CCS depends on the standard on which you use to evaluate them and not everyone is on the same page – so what is the point?
CCS16* FICTION: The CCS are Internationally benchmarked and designed to prepare our students for a global community! This means the draftees examined what high performing nations are requiring of their students and they used these benchmarks to set the CCS.
* FACT: Benchmarking is not a good enough reason to adopt the CCS especially considering the cost factor. The American Institute for Research (AIR) benchmarked state performance standards to international standards using a series of state, national and international tests and found the United States standards are already internationally benchmarked.
* FICTION: CCS national standards will help teachers improve their craft because it will allow them to collaborate and learn from teachers around the country.
* FACT: School districts around the country are already spending a significant amount of money on professional development and teachers routinely collaborate within their schools, districts and across the country. In addition, there are hundreds of websites that enable teachers to be able to share or sell their lessons with other teachers around the country.
*FICTION: By the CCS having a consistent curriculum across the country it would minimize learning gaps for students who might move from state to state.
* FACT: The U.S. Census states only 2% of all people move across state lines in any given year. Although the CCS dictate what students should learn in a given year, they do not dictate the sequence of the learning topics. Example: a student may learn material one year, move to another state the following year and would be re-learning the same material or have moved to a totally different state and found those students had learned something the year before. This thought process in no way would improve student mobility.
WHAT ARE WE GOING TO GET OR NOT GET WITH THE CCS?
Most of the arguments for the Common Core Standards are coming from those of big and little government and those favoring centralized planning.
Big government wants to control the Education our children are receiving because they want to control them for life.
Little government (state) is in favor of it because they do not have the guts to go against the powers that are implementing this and also they know nothing about it except it is going to cost an awful lot of money and telling us the truth is un-natural.
Centralized planners as in those who are looking forward to making millions off of this venture are salivating just waiting for the money to role in. Bill Gates for example has poured millions into this agenda knowing his Microsoft stocks are going to earn a great deal in the implementing and selling of the software which will be used to “TRACK” YOUR CHILDREN.
Maybe we should just all implement the same curriculum all over the world and no one would have to worry if we are the same “globally”. Then everyone would be the same! Sorry, America may not have the best Education system in the world, but we have had the Constitution guiding us for over 200 years and if our country is so bad then why does everyone want to come here? Exactly where will they go when the world is the same everywhere?
How To Fix This – Wake Parents Up!
Expose all those who are getting rich off of the backs of our children.
Give parents choices in education but mandate the government stay out of it except for the local taxpayer controls.CCS Implementation Dates
Remove all foreign entities trough Traditional and Charter schools in the form of financing, textbooks and curriculum’s. American children may need to be ready for a global world, but they have no need for the United Nations/UNESCO, Gulen/Sharia, CSCOPE, ASPnet, International Baccalaureate curriculum’s teaching our children to worship GAIA, that Sharia is an approved behavior, how to make and wear a Burka, using the schools to implement and endorse gay and transgender behavior’s, separation of parents and their children and all the other worldly ideas which are un-godly and un-american.
Carnegie, Gates and Murdoch – Strange Bedfellows?
IT IS HERE – THE TRACKING SOFTWARE THAT WILL FOLLOW YOUR CHILDREN FOREVER! ”
GatesEntrepreneurs are rubbing their hands together and imagining the profits as they begin to roll out expensive tools for K-12 education at this week’s South by Southwest (SXSW) conference.
Reuters:
An education technology conference this week in Austin, Texas, will clang with bells and whistles as startups eagerly show off their latest wares.
But the most influential new product may be the least flashy: a $100 million database built to chart the academic paths of public school students from kindergarten through high school.
In operation just three months, the database already holds files on millions of children identified by name, address and sometimes social security number. Learning disabilities are documented, test scores recorded, attendance noted. In some cases, the database tracks student hobbies, career goals, attitudes toward school – even homework completion.
Local education officials retain legal control over their students’ information. But federal law allows them to share files in their portion of the database with private companies selling educational products and services. (Parents have no say in this – your parental rights are gone).
Entrepreneurs can’t wait.
“This is going to be a huge win for us,” said Jeffrey Olen, a product manager at CompassLearning, which sells education software.
Yeah, maybe. Parents are pretty creeped out over the idea of tracking their kids’ school performance over their K-12 educational careers. I have some ambivalence about the whole idea, but it’s a non-starter for me when I see how they’ve structured it, and particularly knowing Rupert Murdoch is involved.
CarneigieThe database is a joint project of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which provided most of the funding, the Carnegie Corporation of New York and school officials from several states. Amplify Education, a division of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp, built the infrastructure over the past 18 months. When it was ready, the Gates Foundation turned the database over to a newly created nonprofit, inBloom Inc, which will run it.Murdoch
States and school districts can choose whether they want to input their student records into the system; the service is free for now, though inBloom officials say they will likely start to charge fees in 2015. So far, seven states – Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Massachusetts – have committed to enter data from select school districts. Louisiana and New York will be entering nearly all student records statewide.
Klein and Murdoch
Former New York Public Schools chancellor Joel Klein signaled the onslaught last December:
Asserting that the K-12 education market is “ripe for disruption,” Joel Klein, former New York City schools chancellor, now executive VP at News Corp. and director of Murdoch’s Amplify, its education unit, offered a presentation of Amplify’s business model and plans to release hardware and software solutions optimized for a new generation of digitally savvy students and teachers. Klein outlined plans to release an open source tablet device, and specialized teaching software tied to it and to Common Core standards and data analytics, all in an effort to transform the basic model of American education.
What protections will there be for student privacy? And who’s going to pay for this? Taxpayers, of course. As the budget for data mining grows and Murdoch’s pockets bulge, will there be any money left for teachers?
(Klein also serves on Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education and several other board’s overseeing the Charter school and school choice agenda.)
CCCS or CSCOPE – Any Difference? Not Much!
CSCOPE 2Maybe you have heard of CSCOPE, maybe not. If you haven’t you need to do some background reading on it. It is a Virtual Program currently being used in 875 districts in Texas supposedly as an alternative to the Common Core Standards of which Texas opted out of. Texas taxpayer dollars are paying for this costing from $7 to $9 per student to “rent” CSCOPE each school year.
A little background so that maybe you will understand the grand scheme of things and how important it is for the Progressive/Marxist individuals in America to ruin and indoctrinate our children through education.
CSCOPE was originally produced in 2005-2006 by outside consultants, one of whom was Linda Darling-Hammond who is tied to Obama and the Common Core Standards which is the takeover of the public schools by the federal government. Hammond was also on Obama’s consideration list for the Secretary of Education position.
Linda Darling-Hammond (who has signed a pledge to be good without God) is a Humanist and above all a MARXIST who follows the teaching of Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky, who was a Russian Marxist and Soviet psychologist who died in the early 1930’s. She is also a close friend of Communist Bill Ayers.
Darling-Hammond and Vygotsky’s idea of education is an education that is NOT based on individual achievement but on the collective. It is a watered down education that removes vocabulary, novels, cursive writing and the basics of algebra. “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America” by Charlotte Iserbyt. www.deliberatedumbingdown.com
Anytime you see or hear the word COLLECTIVE run! It is just another word for COMUNISUM!
Though Texas did not officially adopt the Common Core Curriculum Standards (CCCS), some of their education officials found a way to implement a similar product that has Common Core written all over it called CSCOPE. CSCOPE was purchased and implemented without parent’s knowledge.
The word of warning here is parents need to be very aware of any and ALL Virtual programs their children are using whether it is in school or at home. In Texas’ case the curriculum has not been available for parents to see and teachers had to sign a non-disclosure statement that they would not release the contents or say anything negative about it.
Homework is discouraged not to give the children more family time, but so parents do not see the material. Textbooks are also discouraged so there is no consistent reference to support or question. Because this program is not reviewed by the State Board of Education, content is not scrutinized for quality or accuracy.
In 2009 CSCOPE was incorporated as a 501(3) (c) non-charitable organization under the TESCCC (Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative). To do this incorporation, no legal counsel was sought from the Texas Attorney General’s office or from the Commissioner of Education/Texas Education Agency.
Each Texas teacher in a CSCOPE district had to sign a contract with CSCOPE – a full page of legal descriptions binding the teacher not to reveal the content of CSCOPE to anyone outside the school. The teachers were not allowed to copy the contract nor secure legal counsel to interpret the content. The general feeling among teachers across Texas is that they dislike CSCOPE intensely because it does not prepare their students academically for the new End-of-Course tests and the under-lining Marxist agenda.
Texas children are not being taught about the great men and women who sacrificed their lives for this country nor are they taught that these sacrifices attribute to the FREEDOM we have been so fortunate to enjoy. This will also be the case in the CCCS.
Current textbooks and various foreign curriculums’ being offered today are filled with indoctrination information regarding pro-Islamic, anti-Christian view. Students around this country would be much better served with studying the lives of great men such as Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and Abe Lincoln rather than playing violent video games.
In the 6th grade curriculum of CSCOPE the writers felt it more important that students chronicle Islamic Scholar Ibn Battuta’s pilgrimage to Mecca and Mohammad’s tomb in Medina. The fact that CSCOPE is pushing a pro-Islamic view is indisputable. Time after time their agenda is exposed, and as soon as it is, CSCOPE Reps run to pull the exposed material with a flip of a switch (due to it being an online curriculum).
One Texas County spent $1.7 million to expand CSCOPE this year. They couldn’t find the pennies necessary to provide the students with Zaner-Bloser handwriting books, but they were able to come up with over a million for something for which they have absolutely no need, or worse yet, something positively harmful. On top of that, the classrooms are full of textbooks that no one is using! More money wasted.
Parents all over America need to be extremely watchful to make sure your child is not using this Virtual curriculum and you would also do well to make sure you understand exactly what is happening with the Common Core Curriculum Standards (CCCS). http://www.truthabouteducation.org/did-you-know.html
Fortunately Texans are waking up and with pressure from parents and teachers alike. Private citizens have dug out the truth about CSCOPE and there are many concerned about the indoctrination of our children. They have even managed to gather copies of the original intent as to the indoctrination of the Texas children.
Lawmakers recently decided they want to rein in the CSCOPE controversial public school curriculum content and management system that at one point taught “Allah is God.”
Testimony given to the Texas legislators was un-nerving to say the least. When classroom teachers, parents, or the general public testified, they gave some very emotional testimony.
A veteran Algebra teacher told of having to quit his teaching job recently because he was required to teach CSCOPE. He said he could not look his students in the eyes, knowing that he was “aiding and abetting ignorance…and giving them an allusion of an education.”
A well-credentialed education researcher, who works with many Texas school districts and who intensely dislikes CSCOPE, said she had had doors slammed in her face when she sought to uncover the ideology behind CSCOPE. She said teachers are afraid to speak out about the content of the CSCOPE lessons and the links that students are directed to investigate. Several of these links take students to sites where Wiccans are said to be similar to Christians and where Islam and Christianity are harmonized as being similar.
A current classroom teacher of 30 years’ experience told about being offended with the lesson in which students were required to make a Communist/Socialist flag. She said her father had proudly fought in World War II to keep our nation free and that our students should be taught American exceptionalism. She also said that CSCOPE content teaches none of the great novels and does not teach the young readers a systematic approach to reading using phonics. She complained that CSCOPE instead teaches whole language and that there is no formal instruction of grammar, usage, and correct writing.
The Texas committee’s consensus appeared to focus on the fact that parents and the public have not been allowed access to CSCOPE instructional materials. The committee also argued that Texas’ TESCCC (CSCOPE’s de facto parent company) is funded with state dollars, and therefore, CSCOPE content “belongs to the people of Texas.”
One witness asked why the TESCCC was incorporated as a non-profit. Was it to be able to hide the content of CSCOPE from the public? Was it to keep their meetings, minutes, and agendas secret? And on taxpayer $$! Sounds a little like what is happening with Charter Schools!
Parents anytime anything is offered to your children whether it is through their school classroom teachings or at home Virtual school – you need to find out if it is proprietary – which means once the school district accepts the program/curriculum THEY HAVE NO SAY NOR DO YOU, THE PARENTS.
CSCOPE is proprietary as is the International Baccalaureate Program (IB). Not the districts nor the parents have any say in what is taught and in fact, if the truth be known, schools districts who participate in IB have no idea what is in the curriculum, syllabuses presented or in the textbooks. Taxpayers just pay but have no say. CSCOPE has tried this but the parents are waking up.
Do you understand that is taxation without representation?
Too bad legislators all over the country do not feel the same way about the Communist United nations International Baccalaureate Program.
Take heed parents as what you are hearing about CSCOPE since in many ways it also applies to the Common Core Standards and we need to be questioning our legislators as to why they were willing to participate in this program knowing nothing about it. Even some private schools are thinking of implementing the CCCS in their schools and you need to be asking the same question – WHY?
The corruption, mis-information, cronyism and outright lies regarding any and all curriculum’s being offered to our children today are out of control. Big business has their hands in their also and that should be a clear sign to you to be alert.
Also, Charter Schools are going to be participating in the CCCS. We need to work together across the country in sharing information and keeping parents informed.
Teachers Are Fighting Back!
Standardized TestingWhen you look in the mirror in the morning who do you see? Your mother, your best friend, maybe even your worst enemy! When you get to work is everyone around you doing the same job, dressed alike or even look alike? Do you all use the same tools to accomplish different tasks?
Thinking of a world where everyone is the same sounds rather boring to me and in light of the fact God created us all differently, WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD WE THINK FOR ONE MINUTE THAT “ONE SIZE FITS ALL TESTING” would be the right thing for our children. Standardized tests for children who live in Wyoming cannot possibly fit into the life style and futures of a child growing up in New York City.
I want to applaud the teachers who are standing up and displaying the nerve to say no! The legislation calling for these standardized tests came earlier in the No Child Left Behind legislation of 2001 then on to the Common Core Curriculum Standards (CCCS) – did any of the teachers get a phone call asking them to give their input into this stupidity? And when you heard about the tests and CCCS and tried to give your input – what were you told! You have no say here! Your input is not necessary! Or simply you are not allowed to voice your opinion, what’s done is done.
The governors across America signed onto this mess without ever reading a word of the CCCS. Even ALEC knew this stunk but then when Bill Gates opened his wallet with $346M, ALEC backed off. Boy this venture into ruining our children by Indoctrination and One Size Fits All education has cost Gates one heck of a lot of money – but then when you have money to burn – you get to give the orders!
Never forget – the One Size Fits All – Is the COMMUNIST Way!
A Note From My Friend Ann –
For whatever reason I’m glad the teachers are finally speaking out against these tests. The new core standards actually force teachers to teach a specific method, and the method is behavioral psychology known as OBE, Mastery Learning, Direct Instruction, etc. The new tests to accompany the standards were tested in Kentucky last year and students in both reading and math showed a drastic drop in academic achievement.
Even the best standardized test will have an error deviation, plus or minus, of 15%. I seriously doubt that the tests to accompany the core standards have ever been evaluated because of the time factor involved in implementation state by state. This is all experimental and the charter school “gang” is behind it.
A massive amount of money will be needed for new computerized content that is unproven or what results we do have most are negative. The many tests to accompany the core standards are excessive and given to students below third grade have no validity what so ever. I just read on one vested interest web site that the computers, test and content material are predicted to last three years. The “snake oil” peddlers could care less about the cost to taxpayers of the value of academics to students. We have had one experiment after another and none have been successful.
The objective, in my opinion, and I speak from doing years of research on evaluating teachers based on these tests is to fire them and lower the standards of more and more public schools so the “charter” thieves can take over. Kentucky is a good example. I just read yesterday the criteria of giving schools a letter grade A through F and none of the criteria has to do with academic achievement. It is on the web under, I believe Brookings Institute research. I didn’t bother to print it out because the prior evaluation of schools also has no relationship to academic achievement—just how well the plan was being implemented. by Ann Herzer, MA-Educational Researcher, Scottsdale, Arizona
Subject: Teachers turn to ‘anti-testing movement’…
By Ben Wolfgang The Washington Times
By refusing to administer a district-mandated test to their students, teachers at a Seattle high school have sparked an “anti-testing movement” that is picking up steam by the day.
The Chicago Teachers Union on Monday became the latest to jump aboard and throw support behind the Seattle boycott, which has shined a light on the growing resentment among teachers, labor groups and others toward standardized tests.
“I think it’s important for us to go on record about this because we are likely to start seeing a more active anti-testing movement in Chicago,” said Karen Lewis, president of the city’s teachers union.
Standardized tests were the cornerstone of the 2001 No Child Left Behind law, but its greater emphasis on such results has prompted a backlash from teachers and unions in recent years. Education Secretary Arne Duncan also has criticized what he calls overreliance on test preparation.
While standardized testing in general has grown unpopular, teachers at Seattle’s Garfield High School are specifically protesting the Measures of Academic Progress exam and for the past three weeks have refused to administer it to their students.
The teachers are rebuffing direct orders from the city schools Superintendent Jose Banda to administer the test and ignoring threats of 10-day unpaid suspensions. They argue that the test is fundamentally flawed and takes away from valuable class time.
“They are frustrated that the test doesn’t line up with the curriculum, doesn’t provide feedback they can use to teach their students and ties up the computer labs and libraries for students who are not taking the test,” said Jonathan Knapp, president of the Seattle Education Association, explaining several of the specific complaints teachers have voiced about the Measures of Academic Progress.
Critics say the tests are a waste of time and are unfair to low-income and minority students. Others argue that the teachers’ main fear is that students’ performance will reflect poorly on them.
The Measures of Academic Progress is a computerized adaptive assessment of math, reading and other skills. Results are used as a part of Seattle teacher evaluations, and many teachers and their unions have vehemently opposed linking student performance to teacher reviews.
The idea of tying evaluations to test scores also has divided labor groups and the White House, which has voiced support for the idea. Critics of the boycott suspect the teachers’ real motivation is to undermine attempts to connect their evaluations to their students’ test results.
“Ostensibly, [the Seattle teachers’] protest is about the overuse of tests, the instructional time that those tests devour, and the culture of soulless data-driven instruction that animates today’s brand of school reform,” said Michael J. Petrilli, executive vice president of the conservative Thomas B. Fordham Institute, an education think tank.
“The real reason the Garfield teachers attack the MAP, one must presume, is because it’s a small part of Seattle’s new teacher-evaluation system. … It can pinpoint precisely where students are on the achievement spectrum and can give teachers full credit for any progress.”
Last year, teachers at a Chicago high school boycotted a district-mandated test and helped eliminate it. Teachers in other states have expressed similar disdain for standardized assessments, but full-blown boycotts have been rare until recently.
Instructors now are being publicly encouraged — by union leaders and others — to stage boycotts, even if the tests are required by school district policy.
I, along with 3 million educators across the country, proudly support our members’ efforts in saying ‘no’ to giving their students a flawed test that takes away from learning and is not aligned with the curriculum,” said Dennis Van Roekel, president of the politically powerful National Education Association, the nation’s largest labor union.
Seattle Public Schools warned teachers last week that they may face an unpaid, 10-day suspension for refusing to administer the test, which must be given by Feb. 22.
Mr. Banda, Seattle’s superintendent, increasingly is being urged by local media and others to take control of the situation and stop instructors from blatantly disregarding district policy. He was appointed in May to take the reins of Seattle schools after four years leading schools in Anaheim, Calif.
Last week, he announced the formation of a task force to study the Measures of Academic Progress and similar assessments.
Even before the boycott began in early January, Seattle schools planned to re-evaluate the benefits of the test at the end of this school year.
It’s possible that the test would have been nixed without the boycott.
For now, however, Mr. Banda is pleading with his teachers to give the exam. At the same time, powerful labor leaders and others are lining up behind those same instructors and urging them to stand their ground.
“I am asking as your superintendent that teachers follow our policies and procedures and administer this assessment for our students,” Mr. Banda wrote in an open letter last week. “This is especially important for our students who are the most at-risk academically. I am hopeful we will continue to work together in support of our students.”
Finally the States Are Waking Up!
STOP CCS
STOP CCS
Massachusetts is waking up! The Tantasqua Regional School District Committee is pushing for state legislation to overturn the state Board of Education’s decision to adopt the National Educational Standards because committee members are concerned about the impact the Common Core (CCS) might have on its students.
In a 8-0 vote July 21, 2010, the state’s Board of Elementary and Secondary Education adopted the Common Core Standards in English language arts and mathematic. To date, 45 states have adopted the Common Core State Standards. This writer feels that decision was made because of the money offered the states to accept the program and by pressure from the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices who had not read the CCS.
School committee chairman Michael J. Valanzola of Wales, who testified before the Joint House and Senate Committee on Education on the same issue in 2011, said the CCS lowers the commonwealth’s standards in education (as it will in every state participating) in a time when the state should be raising them.
He continued by saying, “anything that removes control from a local body and gives it to a big government bureaucrat is NOT something that should happen without discussion,” This man gets it!
“And ladies and gentlemen – that is the Communist way! Congratulations Mr. Valanzola – someone is waking up! This also applies to School Choice/Charter schools or any type of Educational system that has the governing force of over sight and control coming from a NON-ELECTED body or government interference.
AMERICA IS BLEEDING!
America has been bleeding for a long time! Most of us had no idea, the rest were behind it and even helping it along. Since the early 1900’s, long before most of our time, there were people making plans to destroy America as we know her for MONEY, POWER & CONTROL!
Killing her from inside out! We have tried different bandages over the years but none of them seem to be big enough because “those people” who want her destroyed keep using bigger weapons. Sometimes, unknowingly, we have aided in the process.
This brings to mind the difference between a Patriot and a Politician. A Patriot cares about his or her country and the people within – working to protect America from the evil lurking dangers. A Politician simply thinks they are working for the American people but in fact, they are only thinking about the next election.
Our Founders were Patriots – some of them dying or at the very least losing their homes and families in the founding and preservation of America. With God at their side, our Founders gave us the Constitution, so well laid out that at times to think about it can boggle a person’s mind. But the Founders used the genealogy of their previous homeland to know what worked and what had not in the past and they laid out those protections for us.
Most amazing to me was when I read that Samuel Adams had stated in 1776 the Founders had done everything they could to protect the people of this country from communism. COMMUNISM! Further research showed me communism began to raise its ugly head just a few years earlier.
America is in a waiting time period right now. For the past 1381 days, America has been on what certainly has felt like the final road to America’s destruction. Many who voted in 2010 believed that “O” was the “savior” of America. He was going to fix the big, bad, “right” and that he would “share the wealth” with those who felt they had been dealt a raw deal.
As a result, we have found ourselves with a lot of speculation about our President – is he God fearing or a Muslim? Communist or Colonialist or a combination?
Well, he has certainly done the “share the wealth” and more with a deliberate intention of bringing America to her knees. He is close but his job is not completed. Why? Because American’s fought back! We have been called racist, terrorists, tea baggers and even worse, but by following the ingrained love of America as do our military in protecting and preserving this country, true Americans moved ahead.
Now we are upon the election for a new President and leadership! Oh, it has not been easy! Hoping to help people understand what has been happening and showing them what has already taken place and what we are faced with in the future if this course is not changed has been extremely difficult and hard work. And would you believe there are still people out there in America who have not a clue?
We also have to remember that many state and local governments around the country have been playing the ruination game also and hopefully enough citizens are awake and understand what is at stake to change those offices also.
We as Americans should be expecting a lot from Romney if he wins. We know that if “O” wins things will not only be the same but at a faster pace. There are a lot of issues Romney has not addressed for me – Homeland Security, EPA, and Dept of Edu. He has said he will get legislation passed to remove “O”care but he is also in favor of a healthcare similar to what he implemented in Mass. We need a form of Homeland Security and the EPA but not agencies that are working as they are today – henchmen for evil and destruction. MONEY, CONTROL & POWER!
We already know Romney supports the direction our education system in America is going and it will be our job to show him he is wrong. We want the responsibility of educating our children put back in the hands of the parents and the individual states and without communism in our textbooks. Our children do not need self-serving politicians who know nothing about education playing on going games in regard to our children’s futures. Have you not already done enough in NCLB, RTTT, CCS and allowing communist and Islamic education into our schools? Just what in the world are you thinking?
I read an article the other day which was a warning about the influx of “takeover” by the Muslims and Muslim Brotherhood in the EU. Now we need another band aid! Citizens of the European countries who allowed Muslims to immigrate into their countries are being overtaken by them – infiltrating their governments. This report was being sent out as a warning to the world to pay attention to what is happening in the EU and to prevent it from happening in other countries. America is already bleeding from Muslim terrorist actions. We know where “O” stands in relationship to this problem, but where is Romney? It has not been a campaign topic – many things have not for fear of turning off the other side!
Over the years social justice has been used as a weapon to make those that disagree over an issue feel guilty. This brings me to the time period in America when the influx of foreigners was so huge – people from all over the world coming to our doors for peace, freedom to worship and work. None of them to my knowledge came here with the intention of changing America to something she was not. This is not true of Communists and Muslims today. They want CONTROL! Control of our every being and if we do not agree with them then well – I think you know what has happened in the past and is currently happening around the world if you disagree. Foreigners, especially those who have never even tried to become citizens, do not have the RIGHT to come to America and turn her into what THEY think she should be. If you want to be an American – called an American – live as an American, WELCOME!
If you do not like this country go back where you came from!
God, I believe, is ready and set to give America another chance. The “go” is up to Americans! Americas bleeding is a combination of many things and many band aids have been put in place. All of those can be fixed if Romney is elected and we stay awake. I believe Romney is a Godly man but in that lies the fear that America may go back to sleep. We need to remain vigilante and watchful – if things do not change for the better we will once again have another chance to make things right, but we need to stay awake!
Always remember politicians’ are elected by “WE THE PEOPLE” and they work for us – something they choose to ignore. They are people just like you and me, they get up in the morning and pull on their pants and go for the day. Be ever watchful!
Apathy is not an option – our new goal needs to be to continue educating Americans as to the hidden agenda underfoot and currently it has been able to “enter” our door of “FREEDOM” – COMMUNISM!
NEFARIOUS ACTIONS DIRECTED AT OUR CHILDREN –
What is Nefarious? Webster’s Dictionary describes Nefarious as evil, immoral, unethical, deceitful, unrighteous, wrong, a scheme to cheat.
What is Racist? A person or group of persons who believe that race is the primary determinant of human traits and the capacity to achieve.
Before I go any further I want to make it perfectly clear I am white, female, conservative who has never belonged to a Union nor am I an educator, but a researcher.
Who are those who sit on the Florida State School Board? Seven appointed individuals whose control over our children has reached a new low – so low that I am having a hard time finding words to address the fact they would actually set the goals for our students in math and reading based upon their race.
What form of nefarious action is this? With the exception of Dr. Desai, an Indian-American (from India – not American Indian) the balance of the board is White! What in the world are they thinking in regards to the decisions they have made in regard to our children’s futures?
By whose agenda are they operating? Certainly not that of parents or the futures of the children!
This past week the FL. State School Board passed a revised strategic plan that states that by 2018, they want 90 percent of Asian students, 88 percent of White students, 81 percent of Hispanics and 74 percent of Black students to be reading at or above grade level. For math, the goals are 92 percent of Asian kids to be proficient, Whites at 86 percent, Hispanics at 80 percent and Blacks at 74 percent. They also intend to measure the success and failure of our students by poverty and disabilities.
If this is all these Board members have to offer our children then maybe it is time to get rid of the State Board of Education. We are far too top heavy anyway and their advice is doing nothing but making things worse. They certainly have not offered any constructive advice or suggestions in improving the “lack luster” status of the education in Florida.
I will again remind parents that a large percentage of our graduating students who go on to college (including white ones) must take remedial Reading and Math courses before advancing to another level. Why are we graduating students who cannot read? Why can’t our students read?
Who is the leadership of Florida’s education? Our past 2 Commissioners of Education, Eric Smith and Gerard Robinson were at the same time “Chief’s for Change” on Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education.
What about the State School Board? Just who are they?
Kathleen Shanahan – URETER/Agenda 21 Co, serves on Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education – Fund Raiser for Jeb Bush Foundations
Gary R. ChartrandEx. Chairman for KIPP, Inc., founder of the failed KIPP Jacksonville Charter School
Dr. Desai – Cardiologist – Pres. & CEO of Universal Healthcare
Sally BradshawJeb Bush Chief of Staff Jan 1999 – 2001; Jeb Bush Campaign Mgr. 93-94 & 97-98; Jeb Bush Foundation for FL Future Exe. Dir. 95-97; Bush-Quayle Campaign FL Office Exe. Dir. 1992; Bush-Quayle Campaign DC Office Staff Assistant 1988 – there is more but I think you get the picture as to where her allegiance lies
John Padgett – Padgett Investment firm; Monroe County Education Foundation of which is part of the Florida Consortium of Florida Education Foundations to pull businesses into our education system.
Barbara Feingold – VP MCNA Healthcare
Roberto Martinez – Attorney
Does anyone see any EDUCATORS ON THE FLORIDA STATE SCHOOL BOARD? Someone please tell me the agenda of this board and to whom at least half of them owe allegiance? It is pretty clear to me!
Parents are angry as well they should be and it is about time. What they are not seeing is the well laid out plan to turn our Education system into a Charter School base with unelected boards taking control of their schools and away from parents/taxpayers and it will ultimately lead to higher taxes because the Charter Schools are removing the financial base from the public schools. At the same time a large percentage of our Charter Schools are failing because of the lenient legislation that has been passed in Tallahassee by a majority of “non-educators” under the leadership of Jeb Bush!
You might find it interesting to do your own research and not take my word for it to find out how many of our FL legislators also are making financial gains from Charter schools while serving on Jeb Bush’s Foundations. I thought we were paying them to work for the taxpayers?
JUST HOW MANY MASTERS DO YOU BELIEVE A PERSON CAN SERVE AT ONE TIME EFFECTIVELY? I believe this is what partially played a role in Gerard Robinson resigning early.
Chairwoman Kathleen Shanahan would have you believe that setting goals for different subgroups was needed to comply with terms of a waiver that Florida and 32 other states have from some provisions of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Well, if this was part of the game rules for Florida accepting the money to play the Race To The Top (RTTT) game, then why in the world did they sell out our children’s futures knowing they were going to have to do something as “nefarious” as this? MONEY!
Do you really understand Ms. Shanahan what you have done?  You have once again told our Black children that you anticipate they are going to fail, not succeed, so you are going to set the goal lower for them than the other children? You have basically told them they are failures before they start which is what the education system has been doing for years!
Over 30 years ago Charlotte Iserbyt tried to tell America there was a “Dumbing Down of America” in the works and it would be through our education system and it appears they are succeeding. What could possibly be the reason for our State or Federal government to want to set standards by race?
The Florida Department of Education said the goals recognize that not every group is starting from the same point and are meant to be ambitious but realistic. No, what they are doing is setting them up for failure because they are “labeling” our children.
Why are we following our children by race in the FCAT results anyway? What difference does that make if you are going to continue to single the different races out by race rather than accomplishments as a whole? What is actually going to happen is once the Common Core Standards are in place all your children’s information is going to be going into that National Data Base and the information is to follow your children.
Never forget the first time our children were used as a pawn in Florida was when Jeb Bush started the very first Charter school in South Florida as a ploy to look good to the “black community” “to win votes” and after he was elected he never looked back at this failed school nor in questioning years later claimed to not even remember the name of the school.
Parents you must take the control of our schools back out of the hands of non-educators who are supposed to be working for the betterment of our children. What they have done is sell them down the “preverbal river” by selling them out to Race To The Top (the new version of NCLB) and the coming of the Common Core Standards actually written by a non-educator.
We need to continue to educate every child with the same expectations, regardless of their race, background or beginnings and call for the replacement of the members of the Florida State Board of Education or do away with the Board all together. And please, do not let them lead you down the path of “WE NEED MORE MONEY!” What they need to do is make better use of the money they are receiving and start from the top down – most of the money is NOT going to our children but to Administration.
Actually the education some received in the 50’s and 60’s produced some really intelligent individuals of ALL races, but no, the state and federal government continues to think we have to change the curriculum every 2 years, tweak it here, bring in foreign education, textbooks that lie, focus on global and green agenda’s and all the while absolutely no accountability from the top and at the same time PLAY THE RACE CARD!
