Arizona Parents Victory Over Voucher Expansion – Your State Can Do It Too!

Save Our Schools Arizona has put on a long fight against Vouchers and the Expansion of Vouchers in their state. The Arizona Supreme court has ruled in the favor of the lower court’s decision to dismiss the lawsuit challenging their right for Proposition 305 to be placed on the November ballot which is against the expansion of the state’s school voucher-style system.

Save Our Schools Arizona presented Proposition 305 which is a citizen’s referendum on the Legislator’s controversial attempt to expand Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Account program. Proposition 305 upholds the citizen’s right to vote NO against the voucher expansion that is draining taxpayer dollars from public education.

Gov. Doug Ducey signed Arizona Senate Bill 1431 in April, extending eligibility for school vouchers to all Arizona students if they take an annual standardized test. It does sound a little like blackmail since so many parents have been opting out of the “standardized” tests.

Save Our Schools set out to kill that bill.

Keep in mind there is nothing standard about our children. They are like Butterflies – beautiful but each different in their own way. They all learn at different paces – they are unique and wonderous each in their own way.

Why would we want our children to all be alike unless our goal was to have our children brain dead, robots without emotion or reason?

Betsy DeVos – A Disaster for Education?

Betsy DeVos and her husband, Dick DeVos Jr., are perhaps best known as big-time donors to Republican candidates and groups. Jeb Bush gave her the highest accolade he could from his point of view and that was Bush referring to DeVos as a major contributor to the Republican Party. The Party? That’s all?

Jeb Bush of Florida, where Ms. DeVos helped push legislation establishing tax credits for scholarships to private schools, called her an “outstanding pick,” a “passionate change agent to press for a new education vision.”

Change Agents are someone who is assigned or directed to intentionally change social attitudes, cultural values, thoughts, attitudes and morals of school children. TARGET: To change parental and church inspired morals, values and attitudes regarding life in general that are taught at home to destroy all PARENTAL INFLUENCE. Some teachers are change agents – trained to be change agents.

Not that DeVos is an excellent educator because she isn’t and not that she has worked to improve education because she hasn’t. She has offered nothing to education besides her billions because she is all about two things; the Republican Party and using her money to buy her way! DeVos in her own way is a “change agent”.

The closest she has come to actually being involved in education was in pushing policy’s which is school choice with vouchers and a side helping of charter schools. Conservative school choice activists hailed her as a disrupter, and as someone who would block what they see as Federal intrusion of local schools all the while using public tax dollars to feed into private schools. That is taxation without representation.

American parents must understand that what is wrong with the public education system is the non-educators like DeVos and legislators who know nothing about the education of children and are determined to control our children and their futures as “human capital”. The plan has been laid out for years and they have been even dumb enough to put their ideas and plans on paper.

Funneling citizens tax dollars into Charter School Management companies which include Muslim Gulen schools only to have them fail with the massive fraud, corruption, and no excuses education and the massive use of H-1B and EB5 visa’s is out of control. People like DeVos who believe they can buy their way following the “yellow brick road” to total private education and ruling the country through our children are selfish and self-centered.

This is why they are fighting so hard to gain control of home-schoolers because they know they have no control there. Those parents are still putting their tax dollars into the till while paying extra for home-school non-common core curriculums.

The DeVos campaign donation records have a very long trail. The part that bothers me is that most of those donations went to Senators who cast votes as to yes or no for her confirmation and are on the Senate education committee and subsequently on the Senate floor.

There have not been any campaign records presented that show the DeVos’ contributed to the Trump campaign of which I am not surprised as they were strong Rubio contributors.

Over the years, the DeVos’ have donated to individuals at varying levels of government who are involved in the education of our children. I personally resent these individuals who believe their money is what is required or wanted to lay out our children’s futures. That is the parent’s rights to do and one of the goals of the DeVos’ and their political friends have laid out is THEIR control of your children.

How many times must we repeat Senator Lamar Alexander’s statement of controlling our children from “cradle to grave”, “sunrise to sunset” and away from their parents? The whole thing is to break the ideology and teaching of children by their parents. Parents are to no longer to be part of the equation. LINK LINK

Remember in 1989 his goal was the development of a “brand new American school”. We are to go to the maternity wards at hospitals around the country and determine how many have been born out of wedlock. Alexander doesn’t state the importance of that information. He calls for the school to be year round, from 6A.M.-6P.M., and ages 3 months to 18 years. And we as parents are supposed to trust these elected officials who destroy everything they touch to control the lives of our children? Especially when one of their main goals is to remove all parental influence regarding God, Family, and Country.

In 1997, Betsy DeVos wrote an op-ed for the newspaper Roll Call in which she defended “soft money” (campaign contributions to political parties that avoid legal limits on contributions to individual candidates).

DeVos, who was chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party at the time, (one of four terms) wrote that her family was the biggest contributor of soft money to the national Republican Party, and that “occasionally a wayward reporter will try to make the charge that we are giving this money to get something in return, or that we must be purchasing influence in some way.” She wears her money as a badge!

DeVos stated, “I have decided, however, to stop taking offense at the suggestion that we are buying influence. Now I simply concede the point. They are right. We do expect some things in return.” (Just another “swamp dweller”!) DeVos wrote in Roll Call, “We expect to foster a conservative governing philosophy consisting of limited government and respect for traditional American virtues. We expect a return on our investment; we expect a good and honest government. Furthermore, we expect the Republican Party to use the money to promote these policies, and yes, to win elections.”

Does it sound like sound reasoning to have the future of our children in this woman’s hands? With DeVos you have another alarming factor to take into consideration and that is her religious belief ‘s and how she sees their use in education. Again, please do not misunderstand me as I would also like to see our country go back to being under the teaching and umbrella of the Holy Bible rather than the teachings of the Communist Manifesto, but not in a way that the whole country MUST follow what my beliefs would dictate.

DeVos and her family are Calvinists and have the same basic beliefs as the form of religion Ted Cruz and David Barton follow using as one of their foundations Matthew 1:26: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. KJV Calvinists and other Evangelical groups believe this gives them dominion also over all the people and the government. This is one of the main problems with some of the existing Evangelical groups – taking the word of God out of context and giving it a new meaning. I see nowhere in that verse the mention of humans or government.

DeVos in some circles is considered a religious zealot who spoke about using public education to “advance God’s Kingdom.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t want anyone basing our children’s education on the religious beliefs of anyone else. Our beliefs are personal and private and not to be used to control others. Those trying to destroy this country through the Manifesto named the removal of religion and the teaching of the parents as part of their agenda. Hence, I believe the “New World Order” guys and gals know this to be an important part of our children’s lives.

Most Americans know there is no such thing as “separation of church and state”, but others use it to gain special treatment. Using our tax dollars or corporate funding when the funds are not being separated out is wrong especially when the funds are being used currently and primarily to send “low-income” children to religious schools.

Please do not misunderstand me as I have absolutely no problem with any of our children attending religious schools. But if any of our tax dollars are used to pay for that education that is once again “taxation without representation”, the same as it is in regard to charter schools and their unelected school boards.

The DeVos so-called religious plan is to ensure all religious parents get a voucher to send their children to a school of their choice. Is this not discrimination? A new way to form segregation? Parents actually think they are going to escape the claws of the Common Core plan. This is one of the bigger lies being told to parents since any school, public, private or parochial that takes one red cent from the federal government MUST follow the rules and laws that are attached to that funding. If you are not aware, many private and parochial schools played the “Race to the Top” game and took Federal $$.

If you haven’t noticed, most with their hands into the ruination of your children’s futures is being pushed by those of the Republican Party, from the Federal level to the local level. But wait, why aren’t the Democrats screaming bloody murder since they are the ones always calling for the non-existent “separation of church and state”? Because the voucher program is being aimed once again at “low-income” students.

People like Jeb Bush, Chris Whittle, John Kirtley, Lamar Alexander, Chester Finn, Jr., and the two Florida Senators who introduced the Amendment – Sen. Thad Altman,(R) and Rep. Scott Plakon, (R) repeatedly tried to convenience the voters of Florida they only wanted to protect religiously-based social services.

They went so far as to state the Blaine Amendment was prejudice and was against the Catholic Church. Never mind the two men who wrote Amendment 8 were both Catholic and their goal was to have the tax dollar funding go to private and parochial schools.

The important thing here is not that the Amendment was defeated, but to what lengths these people have gone to in order to not only turn our children’s education into a basket of weeds but the force and control over our children that they desire to have. It is to be “their way or the highway” so to speak. You as a parent are to have NO say!

Florida is using vouchers stating the Supreme Court’s ruling does not apply because there will be NO tax dollars used to pay the tuition (vouchers). The voucher program here in Florida is being called the “tax credit scholarship program” and it allows businesses to get credits on their state tax bills if they donate to an organization that gives vouchers to children in low-income families. I don’t know about you, but for me, this is nothing more than a “pay to play” game using our children once again to gain their control.

In Florida in 2015, almost all of the children receiving vouchers were attending religious schools. The families of nearly 100,000 Florida students received vouchers worth about $544 million that year as the Legislature has steadily increased support for the programs. That growth has come despite critics who contend that vouchers divert money from public schools to private institutions that do not have the same student-testing or teacher-accountability rules and can freely mix education with religion.

Stop the presses – Floridians were told the voucher funding was to come from businesses who would get credits on their state tax bills. You see what this game is? The business donates to a charity for a tax credit while donating to the legislators who pass these lenient bills regarding education and it is a “win win” for everyone but the children in the end as they are being used as “human capital”. The plan is to ensure ALL children fall under the umbrella of government/private control and that the taxpayers will continue to pay without having all the facts, the right to disagree with them or even worse, NOT CARING.

This is called the removal of REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT! You no longer count!

DeVos’ Michigan is one of the nation’s biggest school choice laboratories, especially with charter schools. The Detroit, Flint and Grand Rapids school districts have among the nation’s 10 largest shares of students in charters, and the state sends $1 billion in education funding to charters annually. Of those schools, 80 percent are run by for-profit organizations, a far higher share than anywhere else in the nation.

Laboratories or experiments is a good reference for charter schools, especially in Michigan. [LINK] This past October, U.S. Secretary of Education John King (R) paid a visit to Detroit, during which time he offered some advice to Michigan education leaders in an interview: stop shuttering failing schools because the schools we’re replacing them with are no better.  I wonder if he met with DeVos while there.

If Michigan is a center of school choice, it is also among one of the worst places to argue that choice has made schools better. As the state embraced and then expanded charters over the past two decades, its rank has fallen on national reading and math tests. Most charter schools perform below the state average.

And a federal review in 2015 found “an unreasonably high” percentage of charter schools on the list of the state’s lowest-performing schools. The number of charter schools on that list had doubled since 2010, after the passage of a law a group financed by Ms. DeVos pushed to expand the schools. The group blocked a provision in that law that would have prevented failing schools from expanding or replicating.

The Michigan law pushed by Ms. DeVos to establish charter schools over 20 years ago allows an unusually large number of organizations to start such schools, yet established little mechanism for oversight. Even Republican supporters of charter schools say the law has allowed failing charter schools to expand or replicate.

Last spring, the DeVos-backed group was the chief force behind the defeat of legislation that would have established standards for identifying and closing failing schools, both charter and public, in Detroit, where a flood of charter schools in the past decade has created what even charter school supporters call chaos.

If nothing else tells you what a DeVos leadership will do to our already very lenient legislation regarding charters/choice/vouchers, nothing else will. We can hope that Trump was misled in his appointment of DeVos as she is a greater danger to our children and our country than any of the other nominees.

So Sorry!

So SorryIt is time I apologized for not having posted on here for some time. Health issues have had me to my knees for a while, but with a God full of Grace and wonderful doctors, I am finally back to “normal”, whatever that is for me these days.

I haven’t stopped keeping my eyes and ears on the pulse of our children’s education, and I hope I have some good information for you to read through and take to your own school boards (if you still have one in your community), and let them know you are not happy with the ways things have been going and their re-elections could very well depend on their decisions in the future.

This goes for local and state elected officials who have been operating under the assumption you and I are supposed to be working for them rather than the reverse. There are reasons for their way of thinking and I hope to bring that to you also – it is still “education”.

Flag Divider

The goal of many is to Abolish our Representative form of government and they believe they have it all figured out especially now with the Federal government backing Charter/Choice Vouchers. From fellow researcher Anita Hoge:

Transforming America One City at a Time:

Is this country at a tipping point? How do you transform our Republic? There are four main issues I will discuss in this article:

Governance—removing locally elected school officials;
Funding—ushering in federal choice and vouchers under the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) which will change our system of taxing and financing schools to one where the funding will follow the child (this is also a means to control private schools and expand charter schools);
Charter schools—replacing your local neighborhood school with a zealous for-profit agenda so that there will no longer be parent or voter input, or elected school boards, specifically with an aim to kill public education.
Common Core Standards—ushering in a system of individualized, psychotherapeutic learning; the standardization of teaching, testing, and technology in all 50 states; nationalizing education; and changing traditional education based on academics to a workforce training model.

The combination of all four points above puts this scenario together. It demonstrates that this is the plan for the destruction of our country. The following stories tell the tale.

New Orleans. New York. Chicago. Detroit. Philadelphia. Washington DC and countless other cities are casting a glimpse in how this nation is being transformed. If these large cities can be transformed, what chance do small cities and towns have to sidestep government takeover? There are both Democrat and Republican fingerprints all over this agenda. Based on a crisis such as a natural disaster, financial bankruptcy, corruption, or some other incident, there is an agenda to take control of a city’s schools by transferring all authority to the mayor or the governor. In 2006, an action guide for mayors was published by the United States Conference for Mayors and funded by the Gates Foundation called, “Mayoral Leadership and Involvement in Education, An Action Guide for Success.” It detailed a step-by-step process to gain control over a city, particularly its schools. Similarly, in 2008, the National Governor’s Association wrote a report, “State Support for High Performing Charter School Expansion,” which was a plan for state governors to expand charter schools. Is this the bigger plan?

What unique circumstances must be in place to force the closing of publicly-run schools by reorganizing them to become privatized charter schools? Dissolving all elected school board members and replacing them with appointed councils? Firing all the teachers and thereby breaking the back of the unions? [Leave aside, for now, the debate of benefit versus harm of the teacher’s unions, ed.] Replacing experienced teachers with fledgling ‘Teach For America’ or ‘Education Pioneer’ newbies who have had just a few weeks of training? Firing teachers through based on subjective evaluations and “high stakes” testing of students that measures and molds their personalities? Designing a tax system that moves the tax base away from the local community? Forcing local neighborhood schools to close? Dislocating students from their neighborhood surroundings? Co-locating charter schools within a public school? Destroying both your parental voice and your representative vote so that there is no longer any local school district accountability?

Many of us over the past few decades have been watching elected officials be thrown out of their rightful positions. We have watched as parents and educators at meetings and rallies begging for their schools not to close. Do American citizens truly understand the overall effects of these increasingly common local events to the entire country? Is there more to this story? Yes! MORE!

Thanks to all of you who have commented on my articles in the past and your willingness to “hang in there” with me.

Blessings,

Diane

Teachers/Unions/Hillary Clinton/Immigrants!

Editors Note:  I apologize for not posting regularly as of late as I have had some health issues to deal with. Hope to be in full swing soon!Penny For Thoughts

I regularly watch this video by former NEA General Counsel Bob Chanin to remind myself that the teacher’s unions and some progressive teachers main concern is not about the children – but to the money and power they have been led to believe is their right. The day I discovered this video I watched and re-watched it multiple times because I couldn’t believe what I had heard.

This past fall, the 3+ million member National Education Assoc. (NEA) endorsed Hillary for President as did the American Federation of Teachers. To remind the readers, initially both of these unions endorsed the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and PARCC receiving donations from the main funder of the CCSS Bill Gates.

Now both the AFT and NEA officers have recently called for a moratorium in implementing CCSS and PARCC, reversing their initial support. Typical of those who hold power that is seldom checked, national officials have not explained their about-face as being correction of an error on their part. Nor do the “powers to be” normally speak to the teachers before making these endorsements – it is always based around $$.

If you got your information about the CCSS or PARCC from the NY Times, the unions or other biased media, I am sure you are confused as to why so many parents and teachers are angry – not to mention the teachers leaving the profession early.

The danger surrounding the CCSS and the way it is pushing academic’s to kindergarten which is age “inappropriate” or how it marginalizes the experience of literature and the arts or undercuts a teachers ability to present to her students with alternatives to give her students the best education.

Good teachers know that what they are pushing on the PreK – K children is very age inappropriate and in the long run will cause frustration and even cause an objection to learning.

Hillary Clinton has always supported Charter/Choice following the wishes of the progressive New World Order. Most teachers have been against both and to include Vouchers knowing the problems that comes with those agendas.

Hillary’s agreement with the Unions for their support was that she would reverse her support of Vouchers stating “I am opposed to the voucher schemes which diverts resources away from the public schools to the private schools that are not subject to the same accountability.”

Hasn’t that been the way vouchers have always worked even when Hillary supported them?

Just so you are aware, Hillary is also in favor of “Community Education” stating back in 1998 during her husband’s second term “The president believes as I do, that Charter schools are a way of bringing teachers and parents and communities together.” If people like the Clinton’s support Charter and Community schools, you know it is not a good system for the children.

Now our teachers have the added burden of dealing with illegal immigrants and refugees who don’t speak English and have no respect for a system that is handing everything to them for free. Add in the additional cost of teachers who speak their language and now it is not just Spanish, but many others also. No programs written in their language and we just keep pouring out the money and the teacher’s unions and Hillary Clinton could care less about our children.

The following is a blog written by a California teacher and worth passing on!

Carly Laying Down Reading

“As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:  I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large Southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.

Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens, Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.

Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program.. When I say free breakfast, I’m not talking a glass of milk and a roll — but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make the Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten.      (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!)

I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids.

(MORE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!)

I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America. (MORE AND MORE OF OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK!)

I have had to intervene several times for young substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less than 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them putas (whores ) and throwing things, that the teachers were in tears.

Free medical, free education, free food, free day care, etc., etc., etc.  Is it any wonder they feel entitled not only to be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?

To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.

Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc., etc.

For me, I’ll pay more for tomatoes.

Americans, We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won’t have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?

It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15, and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about “political correctness” that we don’t have the will to do anything about it.

If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know including your Congressman and Senators.

CHEAP LABOR? ISN’T THAT WHAT THE WHOLE IMMIGRATION ISSUE IS ABOUT? BUSINESS DOESN’T WANT TO PAY A DECENT WAGE. CONSUMERS DON’T WANT EXPENSIVE PRODUCE. GOVERNMENT WILL TELL YOU AMERICANS DON’T WANT THE JOBS.

But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase “cheap labor” is a myth, a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as “cheap labor.”

Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an “earned income credit” of up to $3,200 free.

ALSO….

HE QUALIFIES FOR SECTION 8 HOUSING AND SUBSIDIZED RENT. HE QUALIFIES FOR FOOD STAMPS. HE QUALIFIES FOR FREE (NO DEDUCTIBLE), NO CO-PAY) HEALTH CARE. HIS CHILDREN GET FREE BREAKFASTS AND LUNCHES AT SCHOOL. HE REQUIRES BILINGUAL TEACHERS AND BOOKS. HE QUALIFIES FOR RELIEF FROM HIGH ENERGY BILLS. IF THEY ARE OR BECOME AGED, BLIND OR DISABLED, THEY QUALIFY FOR SSI. ONCE QUALIFIED FOR SSI THEY CAN QUALIFY FOR MEDICARE. ALL OF THIS IS AT TAXPAYER’S (OUR) EXPENSE. HE DOESN’T WORRY ABOUT CAR INSURANCE, LIFE INSURANCE, OR HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE. TAXPAYERS PROVIDE SPANISH LANGUAGE SIGNS, BULLETINS AND PRINTED MATERIAL. HE AND HIS FAMILY RECEIVE THE EQUIVALENT OF $20.00 TO $30.00/HOUR IN BENEFITS. WORKING AMERICANS ARE LUCKY TO HAVE $5.00 OR $6.00/HOUR LEFT AFTER PAYING THEIR BILLS AND HIS.

THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS ALSO PAY FOR INCREASED CRIME, GRAFFITI AND TRASH CLEAN-UP.  CHEAP LABOR?  YEAH RIGHT!  WAKE UP PEOPLE!

THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY.  AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON’T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!

THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON’T CARE.

And if you think this is bad just wait until Hillary becomes presidentess and the redistribution of wealth becomes the norm in this ex-democracy.

THIS WILL BE PASSED ON ONLY BY AMERICANS WHO TRULY CARE!

THE LIFE OF AMENDMENT 8 – You Thought It Was Over!

I apologize to my readers for this article being about Florida. However, since that is where I live and where most of the corruption and plans to destroy our children’s future’s originates, I hope that by informing you of the measures our legislature is taking in ruining our children’s futures – you will also take a long hard look at your state to see if you are becoming a ‘copycat’!  Amendment 8 to FL SB 1552!

Crayons

In 1999, Jeb Bush pushed through the legislature an “Opportunity Scholarship Program” that gave students in “failing” public schools state funding for tuition at religious and other private academies. Americans United for Separation of Church and State and other allied groups immediately challenged the voucher scheme in state court.  After years of legal wrangling, the Florida Supreme Court finally struck down the program in January 2006. The 5-2 court majority said vouchers violated a provision of the state constitution requiring a uniform system of free public schools.

Our new governor, Jeb Bush, stated vouchers will help parents rescue their children from chronically failing schools. If we have chronically failing schools, then the State of Florida and its legislators have failed to live up to what is expected by all Florida residents. A voucher allowing public money to be used in private schools defies the very definition of PRIVATE SCHOOLS. This money should be used to take all these failing and critically low-performing schools to a higher standard than we have today and get our legislators out of the BUSINESS of EDUCATION.

Jeb Bush reportedly was livid about the FL Supreme Court’s decision and vowed to press for a constitutional amendment, but he found it more difficult in the state legislature than expected. In May 2006, the proposed constitutional amendment fell short by one vote in the Republican-controlled Senate, despite a lot of hardball political pressure from the governor and his allies.

Bush then went for Plan B – after leaving office in Jan 07, he & his top advisers crafted a back-door maneuver to revise the state constitution and advance vouchers. They decided to stack the state’s 25 member Taxation and Budget Reform Commission  (TBRC) which meets every 20 years & has the power, by a two-thirds vote, to place initiatives directly on the ballot, bypassing the legislature and other governmental checks and balances.

Commission members were appointed by then governor Charlie Crist (Bush arranged with Crist to appoint Greg Turbeville, a former Bush policy director, the Senate president Ken Pruitt and the House speaker Marco Rubio who helped the scheme along by appointing Bush education adviser Patricia Levesque and other voucher fans). In all, “nine Bush-era acolytes with financial ties to voucher groups who stood to gain financially” were appointed to the Commission!

Bopsey Twins

Once again the FL Supreme Court stepped in and prior to the 2008 election, they ruled that the TBRC had exceeded its narrow authority of dealing with issues related to taxation or the state budgetary process in proposing the two initiatives and removed them from the ballot.

In the Spring of 2010, the Florida Legislature considered two resolutions (amendments) which, if passed, would have placed a ballot initiative similar to the TRBC’s Amendment 7 on the ballot. The legislation failed to advance beyond the Rules Committee in both the Senate and House of Representatives.

Now we are back to the table again and in the Spring of 2011, the Florida Legislature approved a resolution to place Amendment 7 on the November 2012 ballot. Amendment 7, similar to the church-state related constitutional provisions considered by the TBRC and the Florida legislature, would strip the Florida Constitution of its long standing church-state separation provision. The Amendment was designed to eliminate religious freedom protections currently in place in Florida and open the back door to taxpayer funded vouchers for private and religious schools. The Amendment would eviscerate protections in place governing partnerships between the state and private or religiously affiliated organizations, (possibly even permitting taxpayer money to flow directly to houses of worship). The Amendment is the first step towards permitting private school vouchers.

In July of 2011, Florida parents and clergy, as well as representatives of school administrators, teachers, and school boards, filed a lawsuit in Leon Circuit Court seeking to remove Amendment 7 from the November 2012 general election ballot.

The lawsuit made two claims. First, the plaintiffs contended that the language that will appear on the 2012 ballot doesn’t accurately describe what the amendment, if adopted, will actually do. In short, they argued that the ballot language was misleading. Second, the plaintiffs argued that the process set in place by the legislature for fixing misleading ballot language violates the separation of powers. The current law would have allowed the Attorney General to rewrite Amendment 8 if the Court had found it to be defective. The Plaintiffs argued that the Attorney General (a member of the Executive Branch) lacks the power to rewrite the language, as only the legislature can approve ballot language.

Judge Terry P. Lewis of the Second Judicial Circuit of Leon County ruled that the language that was slated to appear on the actual ballot to explain Amendment 7 was misleading and ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to make the changes and hence, Amendment 7 came back as Amendment 8 in 2012. http://www.au.org/content/legal-challenge

But wait, vouchers have already been ruled as unconstitutional by the Florida Supreme Court stating they violated a provision of the state constitution requiring a uniform system of free public schools. However, Amendment 8 is focusing on vouchers to be used by PRIVATE and RELIGIOUS AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS!

http://www.redefinedonline.org/2012/07/floridas-amendment-8-is-not-about-private-school-vouchers/

Then in April 2014, the voucher hypocrisy of Jeb Bush supporter Florida legislators gave us vouchers despite the fact the voters in 2013 turned it down by a decisive margin and the FL Supreme Court had ruled it unconstitutional.

You see here in Florida it is not about the children, but “whatever Jeb Bush wants, Jeb Bush gets – sooner or later and by hook or by crook! Cons to this scam:

  • Private schools have little to no accountability requirements as to having certified teachers. Taxpayer funds should never be made available to private or parochial schools. (In the 2012 Voucher amendment, 2 of the 3 legislative writers of the amendment are Catholic).
  • The untruth passed through the halls of the legislature were that the parents wanted a push for STEM ((Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) when it originated within the Federal government. Teaching children science and history that is corrupt is not the way to equip them for the modern world unless the intention is indoctrination or you plan for them to be in the fields and factories anyway.
  • Programs for private schools are sometimes attractive to parents precisely because they are free of the innumerable unfunded mandates and endless testing inflicted on public schools. Parents are NOT checking with the private and parochial schools to see if they participated in the RTTT grant games and a good share of them did take money from the federal government which means CC.
  • And last but certainly not least, private school vouchers defy the Florida Constitution, which states that it is the state’s paramount duty to have a uniform system of high quality, free public schools. Corporate tax vouchers create a dual system that is profoundly unfair, dangerous and is intended not to benefit our children, but to fill the wallets of legislators and their corporate cronies along with filling another dream of Jeb Bush’s.

In a poll taken by Sunshine State News in April 2014 showed 55% of those participating were against vouchers, 42% supported and 2% were undecided. So again we must ask who is the FL legislature working for. With Andy Gardiner (R) now the head of the Fl Senate and a strong supporter of education privatization our children are in serious trouble.

One thing taxpayers must remember when it comes to education in Florida is that our system is set up that the governor in the end CHOOSES who will be our Commissioner of Education and APPOINTS the State School Board. Cronyism? Where else do you know that an APPOINTED state school board can overrule a district ELECTED school board?

Charters make up a disproportionate number of F-rated schools within the state and you never hear about all their failures and always with the excuse that they enroll students who have struggled in traditional schools and that they are in the low-income areas and were set up for failure from the start. I ask those parents if that is the right mentality to start a school with and is that what they are projecting to their students?

But then you have charters where they are earning A’s. In some cases, as with magnet schools, that’s the result of cherry-picking good students with motivated parents. Charter Management companies have even found ways to weed out the lower achieving students to help make their overall grade look better – yet it is the charter school which have all the unaccountability, uncertified teachers and in some cases uncertified schools themselves.

A warning to parents who are choosing the voucher approach to educate your child if they fall into the category of ‘English Language Learners’ (ELL). In the state of Florida there are laws in place that cover this in a ‘traditional public school’.

When your child goes to a school where vouchers are used for payments, all bets are off when it comes to these rules, and it’s because these schools are private and are not required to comply with state ESOL rules.

Another failure by our legislature is instead of insisting that students going to private schools with public money take the same standardized tests that public school kids take, the legislature would use public money to pay the Learning System Institute at Florida State University to do annual reports on the performance and learning gains of voucher students.  So they are going to use additional taxpayer money to ‘assess’ the performance of the children being school on the voucher system?

Now we are back to the Florida State Constitution which states ALL children must be treated the same! I do believe we have some laws suits floating around again!

So in essence children going to a private school by voucher do not have to take the FL standardized tests but a child with disabilities who are in alternate schools do. In case you aren’t aware, so are hundreds and hundreds of students who are classified as not liking school, truant, 1-2 years behind their peers, or just normally cannot pass a test.

(Yet the FL Statutes clearly states all testing is mandatory and Commissioner Stewart has stated there will be consequences for anyone not participating in the testing process. She however fails to tell parents what those consequences are).

These children are housed in traditional and charter school settings within normally un-used buildings all over the state never having to take another test, not show graduation rates, but we are paying for their bus transportation not only to school but to work. For you see these students are actually in ‘school-to-work’ schools – not technical schools just school where the most important agenda is them working in a McDonald’s, Burger King, car wash – not very often in an office and certainly not in training that would support them.

And most certainly do not call one of these school principals and ask any questions. Not only do they become rude and unaccountable, but in some cases will even tell you they don’t have to answer your questions and they send you to your district board to try and find out who is overseeing the program.

Now the current chapter in Florida’s charter/voucher corruption, the legislators are using the basic format of Amendment 8 from the 2012 election cycle and putting it in SB 1552.

With an ongoing Republican control in the Florida Senate and House, parents best start forming home school coalitions and tap into the ‘good’ teachers who have quit teaching because of Common Core and the antics in Tallahassee.

Parents it is impossible to make this stuff up and we must come together and stop this madness. I don’t care what your party affiliation is, your nationality, or your race – I care about the futures of our children.

A STEP CLOSER to HITLER TYPE NATIONALIZED EDUCATION

As I discover or I am given leads to information that is rotten for America, especially when it comes to the education of our children, I can’t help but wonder how much more is out there waiting for the “ruination train” to pull into the station.

Change Agent ManToday we have Progressivism/Socialism being taught by teachers from kindergarten through college which in actuality is not teaching but indoctrination. It has been happening for years, but now the politicians and corporate giants are making BIG money from it. You will even see some cooperation between the 2 parties in relationship to this money pot called education.

Remember, the Republican Party came out with “no support” for the Common Core Standards but did NOTHING to stall, stop or defund anything that was linked to it.

Hitler would be proud of what has happened in America. The federal government, the unions and teaching colleges have done a number on education in America when you compare it to what he did with Hitler’s Youth. We aren’t there yet, but we certainly are close.

Hitlers children 2“From a sociological point of view, education is a process by which and through behavior changes are brought about in the individual in relation to the group in which he lives and comes into contact”. Looking at Nazi education through this sociological framework, one is better able to understand not only how Hitler rose to power, but how the sweeping changes he made to the educational system allowed for the systematic indoctrination of a nation.

Hitler’s system of education believed that a person who was less educated, but more physically healthy was of more value to the movement than someone who was intellectually strong but physically weak. They are called bullies! This rugged and mindless type of individual was considered to be the ideal candidate to forge into a tool for conquest and domination. To a young child, this sounds like a wonderful, controlling (on their part) way of life.

Brown Shirts

Brown Shirts are Blue(Remember, Obama has his own trained “BROWN shirts”). The shirts may not always be brown, but the message is there. Through the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS), we have been given what Obama called for during his candidacy, a civilian homegrown army. What role are the children to play in this? These are not high school or college graduates but, those who have spent most of their lives playing kill games and watching kill & horror movies feeling no attachment to the end results. Do you really think they will hesitate to take a gun to their neighbors especially when they are young (16-24), no feelings, paid and made to feel important. Most of them are also very immature.

And the Federal government wants to talk about gun control? What about putting guns in the hands of these children to be used against their fellow Americans? They don’t want to arm teachers but will older students! Large populations of our children are so messed up they don’t know their right hand from their left. They certainly cannot make change in a store or answer a direct question in detail unless you give them multiple choice answers.

In Hitler’s schools intellectual development was not a priority. The curriculum privileged physical strength and robot-like obedience to Nazi ideologies was the priority. Academic studies were dominated by Nazi themes of racial struggle and German pride. Graduates would be the brutally efficient leaders of this new order.

Hitler understood that the most efficient way to unify Germany was through a new educational regime controlled by his new “government”. This system was based in a kind of multi-pronged fundamental revisionism.

Our politicians might begin to tread lightly since part of this new organizational movement eliminated all political parties and created a regime which had no political party, only underlings of Hitler’s choosing and a government which was not a government but a form of religion with Hitler as its God and the Nazi ideology as its Gospel.

Sounds like the groundwork for a New World Order.

Socialist, advocate of cradle to grave socialism, control freak and advocate of local control of education, Marc Tucker, has tried to destroy the education system in this country for years. He wrote the letter to Hillary laying out the groundwork for Bill Clinton’s School-to-Work Act and used an outcome-based education experiment around the country in the 80’s and 90’s which on every occasion failed miserably leaving their education systems in shambles. Tucker once said, “The United States will have to largely abandon the beloved emblem of American education: local control.”

Marc S TuckerMarc Tucker has posted several articles on the “Core Knowledge” curriculum blog endorsing the Common Core and Charter schools. My warning to some of you has been to repeatedly warn you about the use of Core Knowledge curriculum as a means of stating a charter school is teaching “Classical” education. How can they be teaching classical education if they are using Common Core aligned curriculums?

Bill Korach and Dr. Jerry Merckel of Florida have been traveling all over pushing Classical Charter schools especially Great Heart and those from the Barney Group of Hillsdale College. Both schools are using Core Knowledge and touting they are teaching “classical” education.

Merckel was a Univ. of Florida professor in the Engineering Dept. and was teaching a class on Venture Studies, conservative and a tea party supporter. He along with Bill Korach of Florida (Report Card) are laying out their new program that has been formed to help local groups form Classical Charter Schools in their community. Classical education is a good thing, but when you are basing your support on Charter School Management Companies using Core Knowledge it certainly is not.

Again, Charlotte Iserbyt, long time researcher and I will remind you “charters can and do operate outside of local control, citizen oversight, voter accountability, and parental scrutiny. Read here of another Charter school horror. A must read for all!

AlexanderCurrently we have Senator Lamar Alexander, who has forever, pushed for national control of our children through education, and is pushing through a new bill which is a Re-authorization of the ESEA. Understand, it is being amended, not presented as an amendment. This bill is on the fast track and is being scheduled to come out for a vote by the end of March. John Kline, chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee stated last week he plans to have that bill on the House floor by the end of March.

Reminding you that Alexander is very pro charter schools and cradle to grave 24/7 education stated last year he would propose sweeping VOUCHER legislation which could allow families to use their share of the federal funding – about $2,100 per student – for private school tuition, and tutoring, extra-curricular enrichment.

His plan is to give 11,000,000 students in poverty (again low-income) a voucher to go to “whatever accredited institution they want”. The $24B package only gives $2,100 per student. Of course the rest of the tuition will come from the “School District of Record” meaning about $100 Billion will “follow the child”. Don’t these legislators ever think maybe a middle class kid would like to go to whatever school they want to?

A Hand UpYou all know how I feel about the use of (low-income) strategies in the progressive move of our education system. I have found the attitude and actions of a “hand up” rather than a “hand out” goes further in building a child’s self-confidence, self-pride and motivation rather than keeping them in the “you can’t do it hole”

No the middle class parents get to work and pay for all the handouts!

Bottom line: the Alexander plan will destroy public education in the U.S.

Do not be fooled again – this is NOT a conservative plan, but a radical one. It will spend public dollars to backwoods churches, and ambitious entrepreneurs.

NO HIGH PERFORMING NATION IN THE WORLD HAS VOUCHERS.

Is there party collusion going on here? It can’t be true that some of the Republicans would be showing their Progressive side and be agreeing with Arne Duncan on anything. But they are!

Duncan is calling for repealing and replacing the No Child Left Behind federal education law and doing a significant rewrite of the federal education law, the most dramatic in 14 years. And I am sure you have figured out that if Duncan is in on this, Obama intends to sign it which certainly tells you this is NOT GOOD!

This past Monday, Duncan laid out his “principles” for rewriting the education law and insisted he would still have within that law the federal mandate that all students be tested in math and reading every year from third through eighth grade. The NCLB bill has been due for re-authorization since 2007.

You need to seriously question why this is such a priority for Alexander and why the groundwork to have the legislation passed through so quickly. With a new Republican controlled Senate and Duncan participation, it is sure to be put through.

Duncan has previously said that the law must be replaced, that it has “significant flaws,” that it’s “fundamentally broken” and that it has served as a “barrier to reform.” In August 2013, he said the law “is outmoded and constrains state and district efforts for innovation and reform.”

Strange how certain laws are great at times and not so good at others. Duncan and Obama found the NCLB to be very handy in basically blackmailing the states into applying for the waivers and RTTT grants and the proliferation of the Common Core standards.

Vouchers3Watch for vouchers to be in the bill since I have tried to explain to you to you on numerous occasions Charters/Choice/Vouchers are the leading way to take parents out of the overseeing of their children’s education. The only place parents have any control is in traditional public schools BECAUSE of the election of their school boards. In a private or charter school the only say you have if unhappy is to remove your child to another school.

Please take the time to read Anita Hoge’s analysis of this re-authorization as of yesterday.

You can be sure with Obama insisting the testing remain we are going to see more repeats under Common Core of the “cheating” scandals in Atlanta, D.C. and other districts around the country. When your well-being is being based on testing of JUNK curriculum and standards, it leaves the system wide open to cheating to make themselves look good.

Some of the remaining controversy inside the NCLB legislation is the “when and how” to testing and if the law supports good teaching. The encroachment of “Teach for America” within the brick and mortar of our schools is certainly not helping with any higher level of education especially under the indoctrination of the Common Core Standards. You can also bet they will use the wording “low-income children” as this is where they always claim they need to put the money, but all the money that has been used for “low-income” programs has not advanced anything especially the grades.

As Anita Hoge said, “This bill is pretty inclusive and has most of the agenda which was in both older bills HR 5 and SB 1094. This bill includes Title I money that will follow the child; expansion of charter schools, federal choice for public and private schools, Response to Intervention, Positive Behavior Intervention and supports, specialized student support, are all of the mental health agenda. It continues the data collection through IES (Institute of Education Sciences) which is really the National Center for Education Statistics longitudinal data collection, puts FERPA into federal law. On and on. At least we now know what is in it”.

Boot StrapsHold onto your boot straps as the education fight against Common Core was only the beginning. Trojan Horse that it is, it has distracted parents all over the country from everything else going on in the education of our children. Blogs have quieted down and research has come to a halt for the most part.

When you wage war on the public schools and our children, you’re attacking the mortar that holds the community together. You’re not a conservative; you’re a vandal and an elected or corporate crook.

The Education Bed Is Almost Full!

Bush and RubioWell, Florida’s glory boy stood in front of millions of Americans last night and told them he supports school choice and the vouchers, which in education language means – “I am also sleeping with Jeb Bush.”

Wow! I know the rest of the country is in love with this young, flashy, great speaker Marco Rubio, but have any of you talked to Floridians who helped him get elected? We certainly are not any happier with him than we are with most of the other senators and congressman who have been selling us down the river for the past 3 ½ years.

Have you forgotten that most of them signed the NDAA and the Re-Patriot Act and at the same time not listening to a word the taxpayers – the ones who pay their salaries said – begged, pleaded, almost cried – for them NOT to sign those bills and they said, “I don’t work for you – I am in control now and I know more than you do and I am smarter in general. So just go home, watch TV and let whatever will be – be.”

Are Floridians supposed to be excited and proud that because Rubio was given the “place” of responding to Obummer last night and now according to the press, that is the official announcement that Rubio will be running for president?

Are Floridians going to forget how many toes Rubio stepped on to get where he is today without a thank you, or I appreciate all you have done or just plain lied in the process.

And with Rubio’s national speech last night for School choice is that also the announcement that if he wins the Presidential race Jeb Bush will be the Secretary of the Department of Education?

Is there no way to keep Bush’s at home rather than creating havoc and deception all over this country? Bush needs to go back to the family ranch before he can do any more damage!

Rubio’s speech stated the “school-choice” bill he proposes would allow taxpayers to subsidize private-school education for poor kids. ONLY POOR KIDS? What gauge is he intending to use to determine who a “POOR KID” is? How many more programs are the working people of this country supposed to fund when we are out-numbered by the “non-working”?

Realizing the apparent close relationship of Bush and Rubio shines brightly as a way to enforce a voucher program similar to what Bush tried to get through in Florida the last election in Amendment 8. Bush has tried to get that imposed on the citizens of Florida since the late 90’s even to the point of the Florida Supreme court calling his supporters out for trying to get “around the rules.”

With what Rubio and Bush have proposed your tax dollars would be going to fund Private and Religious schools without any say on how the money would be spent because once again they would NOT be overseen by the “elected” school boards and that Ladies and Gentlemen is “taxation without representation”.

To further enforce how wrong this is, it has been openly proposed that businesses and foundations would come in behind the Federal $$ to give the added financial support for each voucher and now we are back to what we have been fighting against for years – “for-profit” schools creating “public-private partnerships”.

In his speech last night it sounded to me that Rubio was basically laying out a major theme for his Presidential campaign in that the conservative policies would be good for the poor and working class.

Someone please show me a CONSERVATIVE IN CONGRESS!

Let’s look at this with “clear eyes.” Jeb Bush was Rubio’s mentor when he was serving as a Florida politician. Rubio, not to my memory, ever voted against a Gov. Jeb Bush agenda/policy.

“It’s not about unions. It’s not about school administrators,” Rubio said in an interview. “This is about parents. The only parents in America who don’t have a choice where their kids go to school are poor parents.”

That statement is certainly not true because the Bush Foundations in their push for Charter schools all over the country using the voucher and choice systems target “low-income” areas all the time. Then if they fail they can turn around and use that as the reason for failure – “well what did you expect, we tried and we just never can get anywhere in the low-income areas?”

And unless I am in error, the vouchers are supposed to be used on a lottery basis as to prevent a student from being accepted because of their financial status.

This will not be an easy sell for Rubio with the current Senate since the Teachers Unions and Democrat’s in general are not supportive of these measures. All over America they have pushed back at Bush and his nonprofit foundations as it pushes for more school-choice legislation. They also do not support Bush’s alignment with Michelle Rhee’s “Student’s First” or “Teach America”.

Having Charter schools, school choice and vouchers becoming a Federal issue is NOT good. We need, as Americans, to get the Federal government out of the Business of the Education of our Children. It is unconstitutional and a format for nothing more than “monkey business” and following the Communist plan for the over throw of this country.

DO YOU REALLY WANT YOUR CHILDREN IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS TOTALLY LEAVING OUT YOUR LOCAL AUTHORITY?

Before last night’s speech, Democrats had accused Rubio of supporting “extreme” budget policies that would cut social-welfare programs. I am sure the Dem’s will focus in on how his plan would certainly add to the National Budget and WE DON’T HAVE ANY MONEY! WHAT PART OF WE ARE BROKE ARE YOU NOT HEARING?

Rubio admits he doesn’t know how much the legislation could cost and I seriously doubt he cares as long as the legislation any politician presents is passed.

And Florida, the news has just broke that Jim Greer, former head of the Florida Republican Party, after all this time has pled guilty to all charges lodged against him WITHOUT A TRIAL and now Rubio doesn’t have that hanging over his head either.

“Oh what a tangled web we weave when we first practice to deceive.”

JEBNATION!!!!!

I discovered this morning there is a group of hard working ladies in Orlando who are working to preserve our public school system here in Florida against Jeb Bush’s push and influence toward the for profit” Charter and Voucher type system.  They have named it “JEBNATION!”  I like the name except it does give me a feeling that it is also giving him a “rank” or “superiority.”

Followers of my blog or who have heard me speak, know I have never been easy on Jeb Bush for I believe his “best interests” are his and not those of our children. Bush and others are fully aware of what the NCLB changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act would do to our children. It was the ground work for what he is currently doing. You know how I know that?

Just this past Friday I received another e-mail from Charlotte Iserbyt – you know her!  Our Guardian Angel who tried to warn us many years ago in her book “The Dumbing Down of America”. The book warned us about the well laid out plan to convert this country to Communism and the way to do that was through the “Dumbing Down” of our children through their LACK of Education, using curriculum’s that have slowly converted their minds to the socialistic way of thinking. They have almost succeeded. Charlotte presented her findings to Reagan in the 80’s and was fired from her position within the Federal DOE.

Why do you think they want to remove history prior to 1865 from our History books?  Because people who have no attachment to their country’s past also have no allegiance to it’s future.

The Friday e-mail from Charlotte pointed out to me what had been included in a study that was being done by some Harvard “intellectuals” regarding the effects Social Studies could have on our children and the changes to be placed upon the county would also include a “charter” type of schools. This was 1934! She sent me the original!

The ladies from the group “FundEducationNow” are very concerned about education or lack of, but they believe that money is going to fix it. It is not! When we as a state continue to:

  • Feed our children a curriculum that falls very short – “garbage in, garbage out”
  • Follow a faulty State Constitution that gives total control to the District Boards
  • Purchase faulty textbooks faulting Judeo/Christian beliefs in favor of Islam
  • Allow foreign, global, communistic curriculum’s into the classrooms with absolutely no oversight
  • Weaken the oversight of Charter and Virtual schools not being aware of where the programs are coming from
  • Legislators serving on Education Committees who know nothing about Education, nor are they Educators
  • Legislators who have financial interest in Charter School Consortium’s voting on Charter legislation
  • Fund BILLIONS of dollars to the International Baccalaureate Program with no reports of accountability or success
  • Have a Commissioner of Education who is a Jeb Bush “Chief’s for Change”  serving 2 masters and I do believe “JEBNATION” is number one.
  • Continue to place the majority of Charter schools in “low income” areas so when they fail guess who they blame
  • Allowing failing Charter schools to continue 2 & 3 years with a D or F grade before closing

What we do need to do is:

  • Wake up the parents and help them understand “everything is NOT alright!”
  • Insist as taxpayers we want NCLB, RTTT and the CCS removed from the state education system
  • Allow us to implement the Texas curriculum standards which are rated the best in the country – we have  them
  • Purchase true History books for our children to learn from and insist the Constitution be taught
  •  Remove all forms of Global education from our schools
  •  Tighten up the oversight of all Charter and Virtual school programs
  •  Leave parents who choose to Home School alone regarding their choices
  • Find a Commissioner of Education who is concerned about Florida’s children
  • Place some strict oversight on the FL State School Board by a civilian committee
  • Change the FL Constitution removing total control from the local school districts and add “term limits” to insure the School Board positions do not become a political game
  • And pray the unions will take care of union business rather than telling teachers to teach liberal, communistic agenda i.e.,  “communism is better than capitalism”.

Jeb Bush may view his policies as tough love, but I personally see it as a manipulative move to control Education for profit. Bill Gates and Jeb Bush are spending an awful lot of money on this issue to get the Charter, Virtual and Voucher ideas in place but with far less oversight then is placed on the public schools. Hence we are now riddled with Charter school scandals all over the country (FL’s has grown considerable since Oct 2011).  Strange bedfellows these two considering Gates political agenda in regard to the lies of Global warming and an Obama supporter.

In addition here in FL., with our legislators knowing nothing about Education, what and how much we are spending on International Baccalaureate (“I didn’t know” – why don’t they know when they are sitting on the Education Appropriations Committee?), walking around with STARS in their eyes at the mention of Jeb Bush’s name, political and financial links to Charter school consortium’s and when parents complain, the House legal eagle George Levesque decides he sees “no conflict of interest”.  Who is George Levesque besides the House attorney? Patricia Levesque’s husband and she is – Jeb Bush’s Chief of Staff for his Foundation for Excellence in Education and was his 2nd in command when he was governor and she also is the owner of one of the largest lobbying companies in Florida in line with the liberal Michelle Rhee in pushing Charter Schools and School Choice.

Now we have the one great big family here in Florida who are being used as an example to the rest of the country in our set up failure.  Let me put it another way – –

Jeb Bush was governor of Florida when his brother, the president, put in place the NCLB system for all the country. They knew it was a system for failure but Jeb Bush told us it would be the best thing since peanut butter. Now he tells us for profit, he has the remedy for what he helped put in place to ruin education AND remembering he is no more an EDUCATOR than David Coleman who Bill Gates hired to write the Common Core Standards.

Oh and the money games with our Education budget – Charlie Crist nor Rick Scott or anyone else in Tally really read all the requirements to RTTT and CCS. Surprised? AFTER they got the money then they were told now you have to provide the software (MICROSOFT) to input all the information about our children into, hire the extra people to do it and buy all the computers to use for the new people and on and on and on we go!

FL legislators have been begged to opt out, but . . . .

Yes money is our problem. but not in the way you think. It is about greed, control, selfishness and the final ruination of the Education system in this country. If money was the fix-all, then Hillsborough County, FL should really be on the very top of the state since they are the only ones who received $100M from Bill Gates in 2007 to improve the teacher accountability and scores. It has not and in fact, from a parents standpoint it is the worst district in the state when it comes to education.

And by the way, remember Hillsborough County’s superintendent is one of Jeb Bush’s girl’s and the merry-go-round continue’s. . . .
