Jeb Bush Caught with His Pants Down Again!

We the People caught you! Florida is the absolute worst state when it comes to the education of our children. Not only are we still being contaminated by the likes of Jeb Bush and his uneducated ideas regarding the education of our children, we have the largest herd of lap dogs in the country continually sniffing at his backside.

Not many independent thinkers here. Everyone just plays follow the leader and this has been going on since the passage of the original legislation putting Charter schools in motion.

To top it off we have a governor (Scott) who thinks he is the best thing ever since the invention of peanut butter and is just about as sticky. His idea of education has become to “follow the leader” being Jeb Bush taking funds from traditional public schools and playing like Congress to load the wallet of Charter schools with our tax dollars. And Scott thinks he deserves to win a seat in the U.S. Senate next year – watch out!

Part of Florida’s new legislation is to now protect the failing charter schools by keeping information from the public regarding the Charter school testing scores and results. Included in this “swamp” package is the forcing of the “D” and “F” scored schools to close or become Charter schools, ignoring the laid out “turnaround” plans by the “elected” school boards.

Bush and Scott both have endorsed this joke of a new Secretary of Education who like the two of them, know nothing about educating children – just the manipulation of money and lies.

How many times do people have to learn about the depth of the manipulation that has gone on in this state and others to capture the control of our children turning most of them into walking and talking “dumbed down” fabrics of what they could have been?

You all can take your 21st Century College Readiness BULL and stick it! These children are no more ready for college than the man in the moon. They can’t add and subtract simple change transactions or read well enough to comprehend what they are reading. And you think they are going to get into college? No, the real plan is for them not to get into college – that is what the “school-to-work” legislation was all about. LINK

Do you remember a couple of years ago Condoleezza Rice, CFR member, stating she thought the CFR should take over the education of our children? Now the New World Order freaks are trying to get their two cents into the equation.

Tax-supported school choice eroding our public, private, religious, and home school education is the vehicle to change not only the right of Americans to choose the kind of education they wish for their children but is removing our representative form of government to unelected councils.

Heck, people like Sen. Lamar Alexander and his lapdogs believe the system should have our children cradle to grave, 24/7. They want to take them from the hospital nursery. Just what is in the minds of these “swamp feeders”? Do they intend to begin just walking into hospital nurseries and taking our babies to be raised by the government?

Childrens Future

Never forget that Jeb Bush and all the cronies including members of Congress, former presidents, Pope Francis and your local government are working toward a New World Order and have no shame in using our children to accomplish that by indoctrination in the schools and removing your rights.

Jeb Bush’s comment on the campaign trail that he “actually carries little Baby Jesus in his pants pocket because it’s my strength,” makes me ill. This is a man that has spent his life following directives to ruin our children’s future’s and he is going to place the blame on Jesus? Reading this will tell you he does NOT follow Jesus’ lessons. Remember a good share of his funding for his foundations comes from Bill Gates, destroyer of all he touches!

On the other hand, Bush expressed this gobbledygook during the campaign “I am asked sometimes whether I would ever allow my decisions in government to be influenced by my Christian faith. The simple and safe reply is no, never, of course not.” Can’t have it both ways Jebbie – liar, liar, pants on fire!

DeVos ‘ push is for all schools to be under the title of private dances in tune with everything Bush has tried to do for years. I would guess that along with those in the Senate who also were sitting on the Education Committee and approved her for her appointment and received political donations from DeVos, Bush made a strong recommendation for her appointment to Trump.

Again, Mr. Trump, I thought we were draining the swamp, not filling it up!

When it comes to truth and Jeb Bush you won’t usually hear it and it certainly got out there during the 2016 campaign. Words matter, so it’s important to know that Bush never calls public school districts public schools districts. Instead, he says the United States has “over 13,000 government-run monopolies run by unions.” He doesn’t mention that some districts don’t have any unions, that unions can’t win a contract agreement by politicians, and that a number of governors have sharply curtailed the power of unions.

Bush advocates using public money for students to use to pay for private school tuition to include religious schools. I am not so sure that fits well with the 1st Amendment however in Florida it will do no good to file a lawsuit, because when it comes to anything education the judges are refusing to hear the cases.

The focus of his Bush’s 1998 campaign for Florida governor was the “Opportunity Scholarship Program,” a voucher program that allowed state funds to be used to pay tuition at church-run schools. It was struck down by the state Supreme Court in 2006. A short time later, the Florida Senate, controlled by Republicans, refused his request to place a constitutional amendment on the ballot repealing a provision in the state constitution separating church and state.

Bush and his legislative cronies tried to pass a similar amendment in 2012 and the voters shot it down. So as per usual, Bush found a back door for his scam. His Florida legislator lapdogs passed the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which allows students to attend private school with the help of publicly funded tax credits. In November 2014, he opened the annual conference of his Foundation for Excellence in Education by having himself introduced by a student who touted the program for helping to send her to private school.

In July 2014, Citizens for Strong Schools, Inc. and Fund Education Now amended a five-year-old lawsuit alleging the state has failed to adequately fund public education to include new claims concerning the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program and the McKay voucher program for students with special needs stating they were lowering funding for public schools and increasing funding for Charter/Choice/Vouchers by unconstitutionally “diverting” money from Florida’s public schools. They lost!  Link

Bush has said that “we can’t just outsource public education to bureaucracies and public education unions and hope for the best,” but he is perfectly comfortable on outsourcing public education to for-profit education companies who open public charter schools but run them like a business. (Is it a coincidence that Florida has the second-highest number of for-profit charter schools?) AND WE ARE STILL #47 IN THE COUNTRY!

Florida’s corporate brained Governor Scott already has a program in the state he claims is bringing jobs to Florida called Enterprise Florida which has for years been dumping tax dollars into it and at the same time giving horrendous tax credits to the corporations who are playing the game.

Now once again, Florida is using more tax credits on corporate income taxes and insurance premium taxes for donations to scholarship-funding organizations (SFOs), nonprofits that provide scholarships for low-income students and children in foster care and offer funds for transportation to public schools outside a child’s district. Businesses get a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for SFO contributions, with total credits capped at $559.1 million. Unused credits can be carried forward to the next fiscal year.

They claim this plan proves they are NOT using tax dollars for the voucher scam, however, the shift in income must come from somewhere and with Scott looking at increasing state property taxes to make up for the shortfall, tax dollars are being affected, even if only indirectly.

  • Scholarships can be worth up to $5,886, though they may not exceed private school tuition and fees. Transportation grants for public schools are worth up to $500.
  • Again, the whole program is geared to “low-income” children which in itself is a form of “segregation”.

Back in 2011, Charter Schools USA, a charter school management company, makes its money charging the school a management fee similar to what happens when you live in an Association development. At that time, that money was a percentage of the $150 million in tax $$ that the state was paying the company to run its 25 Charter schools in Florida. At just one of their schools in Osceola County, Charter Schools USA was paid $822,182 in administration fees for just one year.

I wonder just exactly what you get for those $$! Lack of legislative oversite because the owners are buddies with Bush and most of the legislators who I would remind you, in Florida, are ALLOWED to own or be affiliated with Charter schools while at the same time writing, voting on and passing Charter school legislation. Do you think this is a conflict of interest?

As Bush walks around puffing his chest out at his clever work, you will never hear him talk about the Charter school test scores that were either no better or worse than the public schools. Or that under his program of assigning letter grades to schools based on test scores, a disproportionate number of charters get failing academic letter grades from the state. Or that Florida’s charter sector has been marred by numerous closures of charters — some even during the school year — and repeated financial mismanagement and corruption scandals.

Did you ever hear of your children going to school on a Monday morning and the school is locked up – lock, stock and barrel? Happens with Charter schools all the time.

The standardized test scores that the Bush reforms used to hold schools and districts “accountable” to came from his now-defunct Florida Comprehensive Accountability Test (FCAT) program, which collapsed over the years as the integrity of the test scores were questioned repeatedly by school districts.  In 2012, after a disaster with an FCAT writing test in which only 27 percent of fourth graders scored proficient — down from 81 percent the year before. It wasn’t the first time either.

And don’t think this hasn’t been tried before – the voucher and privatization experiment. In the 1980’s, Chile under the dictator Augusto Pinochet and continued by both liberal and conservative leadership, moved to vouchers and privatization to supposedly offer better education access for all.

In 1995, beloved by many Milton Friedman used Chile as an example as to why the U.S. needed to privatize public education. Thank God, we didn’t take his advice, since the voucher and privatization experiment in Chile resulted in a greater inequality and less educational access.

If you think my thoughts regarding charter/choice/vouchers is a “stand alone” prorogate, read some of the comments made by a DeVos Michigan Charter school (Eagle Crest Charter Academy) (ECCA) board president Brian Polet, and what he has to say in his resignation letter:

“This copy-written, corporate driven education model has been developed by non-teachers and Edu-crats from Washington to Lansing to the detriment of students, parents, taxpayers and local school boards. Without control of curriculum and a limited control of budgets, CC has effectively removed local control from parents and put it the hands of ESPs, the Dept. of Ed and state boards.”

“As a logical conclusion to this hokum, ECCA has fallen victim to this Soviet-style education. The chaos that has ensued is not the consequence of bad management by NHA, but a result of a flawed educational system.  More disturbing to me is the inability to guarantee the data privacy of our students. Equally troubling is the ability for educational personal to manipulate tests and assessments to move any student into certain fields or vocations and to modify behavior without consent or knowledge of the parent.

Sadly, as a volunteer I have no “skins” in this game. This puts the board and its individual members at a decided disadvantage against the combined efforts of CMU and NHA. I want no part of a lousy educational mode. With CC, we no longer have the Socratic model of education, but a new Bill Gates vocational schooling for worker bees and drones. Plainly, I have not left education, education has left me and more importantly, our students.”

Keep in mind that Jeb Bush is also a lap dog to the New World Order!

Parents it is time to rise up against this Socialist agenda and say NO MORE!

Charter/Choice/Corruption and Egos = Gulen

 Gulen Trap Expands

Even the famous Marxist theoretician Antonio Gramsci was a deep opponent of “progressive” educational methods. He wrote: “The most paradoxical aspect is that this new type of school is advocated as being democratic, while in fact it is destined not merely to perpetuate social differences, but to crystallize them.” He rightly saw that “progressive” methods were of no help to the poor – only intensified it!

Lack of oversight and filling the wallets of legislators by Charter School Management companies is one of the biggest problems in our country today.  I should say after the unlawful intrusion of the Federal government into our children’s education however, this is a path to the Federal government’s total takeover of our education system. Along the way corruption is more the rule than the exception and one of the reasons Charter schools are failing.

One of our biggest dangers to the sovereignty of this country and the protection of our children is the Gulen Charter School system. The American Foreign Policy Council has stated:  “The Charter school experiment has resulted in the U.S. being the ONLY country in the world where the Gulen Movement has been allowed to establish their schools fully funded by the host country’s taxpayers.” Just how insane is that!

Futah 2The Gulen Movement is fantastic at advertising PR, and bestowing fake honors on their students, politicians, and local media and academia. Hizmet aka Gulen Movement will shamelessly act like satisfied American parents or students. They will lie, cajole, manipulate, bribe, blackmail, threaten, and intimidate to get their way which is to expand the Islamic movement through Gulen charter schools. If this doesn’t work they play victim and cry “islamophobia”. Beware of the Gulen propagandists and Gulen owned media outlets.

It should be noted that Turkey has transferred its alliance from Europe and the United States to Russia and Iran. It has moved toward friendship with Hamas, Hezbollah, and Syria and created a pervasive anti-Christian, anti-Jewish, and anti-America animus throughout the populace.

Just last year, the Senate introduced the The Immigration Innovation (“I-Squared”) bill,  S.153, introduced by Sen. Orrin Hatch (R), Sen. Jeff Flake (R), Sen. Marco Rubio (R), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D), Sen. Chris Coons (D), and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D), that would enable companies to hire an unlimited number of workers with advanced degrees from U.S. institutions in science, technology, engineering and math, which critics have said would turn some universities into diploma factories for foreign students. Currently, the first 20,000 H-1B applications for those with advanced STEM degrees are exempted.

Senators who have since signed onto S.153 are Republicans Kirk, Lee, Gardner, McCain, Heller and Ayotte with the addition of Democrat McCaskill and an Independent King. Thank the good Lord this bill has gone nowhere since January 29, 2015.

Hatch said he hoped the bill would be a gateway to “more progress” on a broader immigration bill and at the same time would increase the annual cap on H-1B visas from 65,000 to 115,000, reform student visas, “authorize employment for the dependent spouses of H-1B visas holders, and allow a grace period for foreign workers to “change jobs and not be out of status.”

It needs to be noted that 3 out of 4 Americans with STEM degrees do not hold a job in the STEM field.  It has been calculated that 100% of new hires in the tech industry could be guest workers if Congress continues to increase the number of H-1B visas, which would hold “down wages for both them and new hires and at the same time keep American jobs away from Americans.”

Someone who has found their way into using the H-1B visa program to their best interest is the Fethullah Gülen Movement (FGM).

What should be the greatest attention getters in this country in regard to Charter schools is the Gulen movement. And make no mistake, it is a movement. It is noted and proven their main goal in setting up these Charter schools around the country has been to revive and institute the Ottoman Empire here in America. At the same time, the Gulen Charter system is the largest user of the H-1B visas in this country.

Gulen Charter schools are receiving our tax dollars of which are in turn being turned over to the various Gulen foundations. Fethullah Gulen is referred to as a scholar by the media when in fact he only completed the sixth grade. According to his website he is an “authoritative mainstream Turkish Muslim scholar, thinker, author, poet, opinion leader and educational activist who supports interfaith and intercultural dialogue, science, democracy and spirituality and opposes violence and turning religion into a political ideology.”

According to U.S. Department of Labor data, as of 2012 almost one third of the applications that the Cosmos Foundation which oversees all the Gulen schools in Texas received were for positions not related to mathematics and science, such as art teachers, English teachers, history teachers, accountants, assistant principals, legal counsel, and public relations coordinators. Prior to receiving their visa status from the US, it was reported these future employees had already been accepted into Harmony Charter system when their job positions changed, and that Harmony always promotes from within.

From 2001 to August 2010 the Cosmos Foundation had filed 1,157 H1-B visa applications, and it had imported 731 employees under the H1-B visa, a higher number than all of the other providers of secondary education in the United States combined.  By 2012 the U.S. Department of Labor certified 1,197 H1-B visa applications from Cosmos.

It is to be noted that foreign-educated teachers who would like to teach in U.S. public schools (K-12th grade) must also be certified by the state where they would like to work. Be aware though that some Gulen schools operate under the assumption that just because the school has been granted a certification from the U.S. Labor Department for a certain number of teachers that that qualifies and enables them to teach without certification. Parents should ask to see the certification of all H-1B teachers no matter where they teach.

July, 2015, Turkey’s President Erdogan stated the United States fosters the Gulen movement by allowing them to be in this country. Erdoğan stated that the Gülen Movement operates over 160 charter schools in the U.S. which receives state funding. With regards to how Turkey was dealing with the Gülen Movement and its network of schools, Erdoğan said that the U.S.-based Fethullah Gülen, had “ran away” to the U.S. in 1999, and then established between 150 and 160 schools on U.S. soil.

Fethullah Gulen was forced to leave Turkey having been accused of infiltrating key institutions, including police, judiciary and bureaucracy inside Turkey and trying to take over the country.

The president said that the so-called Gülen Movement was earning huge sums of money through these networks of schools. The Turkish government accuses the Gülen Movement of infiltrating key institutions, including police, judiciary and bureaucracy inside Turkey. “The key point in [winning the] battle with them was the prep schools,” Erdoğan said. “They earned around a billion Turkish liras [around $386 million] from such prep schools. We have shut them down and it was handled,” he added.

Gates MonsterWould it surprise you to know that “not really such a nice guy to our children”, Bill Gates through his Gates Foundation and the Texas High School Project in 2007 shelled out $10,550,000 to the Gulen’s Cosmos Foundation? It certainly doesn’t surprise me since Gates through his foundation has funded everything evil in regard to our children for years – especially through education (CCSS).

The Internal Revenue Service Form 990 for Cosmos shows that as of 2010 the Cosmos Foundation received $41,570,721 from taxpayers. These Gulen schools around the country are also eligible for Title I funds.

An audit done of the Harmony Charter school system and the Cosmos Foundation which was released in July 2012 was done by the TEA and announced that $186,197 in federal grant funds intended to improve education of low income and disabled children was misspent, with 34% of examined expenses being misspent, or 16.1% of the total expenses associated with the grants being misspent. The TEA deemed this “unallowable.” The TEA found that, on one occasion, a campus not eligible for Title I funds received Title I funds. In another, grant funds were used to cover payroll costs, a manner not allowed.

What did the TEA do about it?  There is no documentation to be found that shows the Cosmos Foundation and/or Harmony Charter school system was ever required to pay the Federal government back the misspent funds.

Now it has come to our attention Congress has been taking Gulen funded vacations to Turkey and not all of this activity is being properly documented. Surprised? I’m not!

The teachers, men and women, are allowed to begin teaching immediately (certification?) and these teachers are expected to give back to the school 30-40% of their salary. This money is placed into a secret fund which is used for the Gulen movement.

Gulen Charter schools are the largest charter network in the country and recently red flags have been raised by the FBI. They now have decided to investigate for immigration fraud as well as a misuse of taxpayer $$.  Remember these students are receiving taxpayer dollars as in any other Charter school, but the teachers are having to give back a large portion of their salaries which goes into a secret Gulen movement fund and these funds are taxpayer funds.

Gulen powers to be admit most of the Gulen schools claim to be STEM schools and that is the reason they need to use Turkish teachers. Critics also find it hard to believe that qualified American teachers in math and science are hard to find. One would hope though that American teachers are smart enough to stay away from the likes of Fethullah and his cult.

A former president of the parent’s group at the Young Scholars of Central Pennsylvania Charter School, Ruth Hocker started asking questions when popular, certified American teachers were replaced by uncertified Turkish men who often spoke limited English and were paid higher salaries. Most were placed in math and science classes.

I had previously reported on this blog about school parents describing how uncertified teachers on H-1B visas were moved from one charter school to another when their “emergency” teaching credentials expired and they told of a pattern of sudden turnovers of Turkish business managers, administrators, and board members. They always know how to play the system!

According to one U.S. government document, Gülenist’s use their school worldwide network (including dozens of schools in the U.S.) to cherry-pick students they think are susceptible to being molded as proselytizers and we have steadily heard reports about how the schools indoctrinate boarding students.”

The movement targets youth in the eighth through twelfth grades, mentor and indoctrinate them in the ışıkevi (Illuminated),  educate them in the Fethullah schools, and prepare them for future careers in legal, political, and educational professions in order to create the ruling classes of the future Islamist, Turkish state.”

Even more telling is a comment from Nurettin Veren, Gulen’s right hand man for 35 years who said: “These schools are like shop windows. Recruitment and Islamization are carried out through night classes.

Additionally, many of these students take 10-day summer trips to Turkey and you have to wonder where the heads of their parents are – even as to why they would place their child in an Islamic school. One teacher reported her class won a free cultural trip to Turkey through an art contest sponsored by a Gülen organization called the Atlantic Institute. They openly admit some of the founders and donors of the Institute are inspired by the values of the Hizmet Movement (Turkish for ‘service’) also called Gulen Movement.

Atlantic Institute tells you that the Hizmet Movement is a values-driven social movement and philosophy that advances interfaith dialogue, education and community service as tools to build a better and more harmonious society. The movement was inspired by the philosophy and teachings of Fethullah Gulen.

Teachers reported they were taken on a 10-day death march through Turkey and then after having been deprived of food the Gülenist’s hosts brought us to a building called the Journalist and Writer’s “light house” which was a compound. This is where we got the cult spiel for 2 hours. The speaker told us, ‘Fethullah Gülen, he is the imam that sheds light on the dark waters of our time,'” said the teacher.

“This trip was not about a moderate message of interfaith dialogue or Turkish culture. The whole purpose was to promote the imam Fethullah Gülen,” said the teacher.

The Gülen movement is a transnational religious and social movement led by Turkish Islamic scholar and preacher Fethullah Gülen. The movement has no official name but it is usually referred to as Hizmet (“the Service”) by its followers and as Cemaat (“the Community/Assembly”) by the broader public in Turkey.

Futhullah Gulen Graham FullerAt the same time, the U.S. government is allowing Fethullah Gülen to live in exile from his own country hidden away from the public eye in Saylorsburg, PA. Why do you suppose this is? Would it catch your eye if I tell you that the CIA was responsible for giving Gulen his hiding place from his own country? Under the excuse of “for health reasons”, truth be known Gulen’s health problem is diabetes and can be taken care of in almost any country.

Where is the U.S. State Department in all this?  Another case of the U.S. thinking they know who the leader of a country should be? Approval has to come through them for international education programs to be in this country. Is the State Department aware of what is happening or is this just part of more of the same with a dabble of corruption?

The Gülen movement’s ultimate goal is to open charter schools in the U.S., to funnel U.S. tax dollars back into the Gülen movement in Turkey. They skim just enough off the public taxpayers from these charter schools so it won’t look suspicious.”

Additionally, our government is providing opportunities to the Gulen movement because the US government has failed to deal with radical Islam. The US government is under the impression that the FGM is the answer for moderate Islam since Gulen pretends to promote dialog among the faiths.

This is a fatal mistake because in Islam, there is no dialog, there is no moderation. The Qur’an states and Muslims believe that every human being needs to convert to Islam sooner or later, otherwise, they all deserve to die. This is not a joke, nor a foolish statement. This is what all kids who receive Qur’an training before they reach the age of 12 believe.

As Gulen Schools slowly but surely move forward in their operations in the US, the main idea is to bring up more graduates of FGM who may in the future become the leaders of the US. Fethullah Gulen’s next school, The Harmony School of Political Science in Austin TX, being built is just a clue to prove my point.

Last year, FBI agents carried out raids to 19 Gulen Charter schools in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio as part of an “ongoing white-collar crime matter.”  The lack of transparency linked to these schools and the Gulen movement should be of major concern to all Americans especially those who have their children in these schools. Of major concern with all Gulen schools is the financial flow of taxpayer dollars and the lack of oversight and transparency.

The way they are using our taxpayer $$, the hierarchy, their pursuit of buying political influence leave enough reason in the minds of reasonable people that these Charter schools need to be closed down. Tax payers are actually being forced without their knowledge to support this Islamic movement within our own borders. Is there something more insidious going on here?

The use of the Islamic practice of taqiyya or “deception” to mask the true nature of the schools has been upheld by Gulen himself. In 1999 Turkish television aired footage of Fethullah Gülen delivering “sermons” which revealed his plan to implement Sharia in America:

  • You must move in the arteries of the system without anyone noticing your existence until you reach all the power centers … until the conditions are ripe, they [the followers] must continue like this. If they do something prematurely, the world will crush our heads, and Muslims will suffer everywhere, like in the tragedies in Algeria, like in 1982 in Syria … like in the yearly disasters and tragedies in Egypt. The time is not yet right. You must wait for the time when you are complete and conditions are ripe, until we can shoulder the entire world and carry it … You must wait until such time as you have gotten all the state power, until you have brought to your side all the power of the constitutional institutions in Turkey … Until that time, any step taken would be too early—like breaking an egg without waiting the full forty days for it to hatch. It would be like killing the chick inside. The work to be done is in confronting the world. Now, I have expressed my feelings and thoughts to you all—in confidence … trusting your loyalty and secrecy. I know that when you leave here—just as you discard your empty juice boxes, you must discard the thoughts and the feelings that I expressed here.”

America – wake up!

Republicans Are Now In Control – Not Conservatives!

The words of Republican and Conservative are not necessarily a bonding of thoughts, ideas, morals or values.

One represents a frame of mind, the way you want your children to grow up with respect for others and themselves with a strong set of morals and values to carry with them through their lives.

The other is merely the name of a Political party backed by liars and huge money sources. Don’t misunderstand me, I believe the Democrats as a party are also liars. It just so happens the Republicans just came back into full power and they will certainly not clean up their act for the likes of the American people. In addition, the Republicans did nothing for us in stopping Common Core.

We are being told we should trust that party but as a parent and grandparent I can’t do that. They lie – repeatedly. Example – this morning I was cleaning out some papers and I came across the list of the “supporters” listed on Jeb Bush’s web site for the support of the Common Core State Standards.

You know, the web site that is so hard to find. The URL is www.highercorestandards.org but the actual name of the web site is “Conservatives for Higher Education”.

All REPUBLICANS and I wouldn’t call any of them CONSERVATIVE because they support the CCSS. The only changes you will find in the list of supporters are the removal of the names of Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin and Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.  Ghee, I wonder why?

Maybe it’s because they had the intelligence and backbone to stand-up to the forceful orders of a bunch of “cash cows” telling them how to think and speak. They obviously finally decided to take the time to read the standards, found them unacceptable, below previous standards and unfit for consumption by our children.

Maybe they even decided corporate heads were not qualified to decide what our children should learn – we did do very well before unions, government and cash cows got into education. After all children educated in the 40’s and 50’s put us on the moon!

Interestingly enough, one name still remains on that list. It’s the name of that Preacher who stood in front of his TV cameras in December 2013 and stated he no longer supported the standards and then shortly thereafter went and had lunch with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) and gave them his worldly advice. You guessed it –

MIKE HUCKABEE!

HUckabee 5I’m not sure which direction some of the ministers in this country are headed, but this one openly lies to the whole country two nights in a row and then at lunch urges state education officials to get rid of the “Common Core” name because it has become “toxic.” However, it would appear he intends to support the standards given the instructions he gave to the CCSSO. “Rebrand it, refocus it, but don’t retreat”. Ouch!

It would seen Mr. Huckabee has become toxic!

Some of our REPUBLICAN governors took Huckabee’s advice to heart:

  • Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) has used an executive order to purge the name “Common Core” from the standards and refer to them, instead, as Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards: “The Executive Order requires that executive agencies refer to the standards, adopted in 2010, as Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards, and encourages citizens and education stakeholders to do the same.” Their standards are still CCSS.
  • Iowa’s Governor Terry Branstad (R) also chose to “rebrand” now referring to the standards as the “Iowa Core”. Imaginative!
  • Florida’s Governor Rick Scott (R) opted to rebrand by removing the words “Common Core” from all official education documents. Floridians are under the impression the new standards name is the “Next Generation Sunshine State Standards however that name was put in place in 2007 and remains today for all except the ELA and Math Standards. Those are being referred to simply as 2014 Language Arts Florida Standards and the 2014 Mathematics Florida Standards and they were renamed in February, 2014.

When Scott was asked if the standards had just been re-branded he replied, “The Florida Standard is derived from the Next Generation Sunshine State Standard, which was derived from earlier versions of the Sunshine State Standards. These standards pre-dated Common Core and are truly Florida’s own standards.”

What about Florida’s obligation to the Federal Government from our acceptance of Race to the Top money? Gov. Scott said: “Race to the Top was a four-year grant. That grant has expired, it’s done. We are no longer under obligation to the Federal Government. So we are pushing back against any Federal intrusion into our public schools.”

This statement is also a lie since Florida applied for an extension to complete all their requirements when they filed their last report. Another lie, we still have money and he has an extension until Sept 1, 2015 – the RTTT deal is not over!

RTTT Extension

  • Indiana’s Governor Mike Pence (R), the first to accept the CCSS and then the first to supposedly “replace” the CCSS is still in hot water with his parents and voters. It is obvious the new Indiana standards are so close to the old ones that stating they are “rebranded” is certainly more appropriate than saying they are changed.

Florida’s Governor Scott thought he was smart to call for 3 meetings to hear complaints about the standards, but he forgot two things at those meetings – the parents and himself! He couldn’t find the time to attend any of those meetings or the Town Hall events he called for – but at the same time he found the time to go all the way to South Florida to have dinner with Jeb Bush.

How is your state doing? Are they continually lying to you, playing a cover-up game? Florida tells us they have made 99 changes to the CCSS to make them our own, but no details showing what those changes supposedly are. The 99 changes involving cursive writing and calculus will not be tested on in the general state tests, out of eleven thousand math and English standards means nothing.

It is called TEST UNTIL YOU DROP!

All the participating CC states were required to file a yearly report to the FDOE if they received Race To The Top (RTTT) funds explaining how they spent the funds, how much they have left, what goals they listed on their applications have been completed and which ones haven’t and why! Florida RETAINED most of the $700M they received in Tallahassee in round 2 according to their own words to pay for a flubbed up CCSS web site and contracts they needed to put in place to be compliant.

I noticed this past week several local school districts around the country had amendments or referendums on their ballots to increase school taxes. I’m not surprised, but I am surprised the voters were dumb enough to vote for the increases to their property taxes to pay for this boondoggle of a Trojan Horse. Are you really prepared to take head on the estimated costs of the CCSS?  $1,024,163,000 is one estimate.

Interestingly enough in Florida, Scott stayed as far away from the topic of the CCSS as he could during the campaign. Even Jeb Bush hitting the trail for Scott tried to stay away from the topic, but Bush never does know when not to lie. When asked about the changes to Florida’s CCSS he said, “he agrees with Scott’s statement that “Common Core is out” in Florida. Florida’s changes to Common Core were not substantial, and standards are now “Florida-based” and higher”.

How can Bush say “CC is out of FL” & then “concede FL made changes to the CCSS that were not substantial“? Makes Absolutely No Sense and in my playbook it’s called “doublespeak”!

How do the Master Deceivers in your state work? The ones in Florida tried to convince the FDOE they have complied with all requirements while at the same time convincing the public that the Florida standards are something other than Common Core with a new name or “lipstick on a pig.” Notice the changes here, FL has all 3 standards!

Common Core Standards

Florida powers to be tripped all over themselves in trying to convince everyone the CCSS were gone, yet at the same time, after having asked for an extension and renewed their NCLB waiver in June 2014, it would have broken the rules of the waiver – and Rick Scott really likes to play with money.

Equally interesting is these states have all had to sign a “memorandum of understanding” with the FDOE regarding RTTT if they were planning to apply for the grants or expect to be picked, which is what Florida did. Contrary to what Florida’s governor said, it is obvious the rules still apply regarding RTTT because they asked for the extension to comply.

I hope the “powers to be in charge” of these states understand clearly “we” have NOT been educated with the CCSS. We know full well you are liars, fence jumpers, manipulators, deceivers, and in bed with the likes of Carnegie, Gates, Soros, Bush Dynasty, ALEC, NEA, NTA, Charter School Management Companies and actually too many others to name. Anyone who is willing to put some “cash” into your election “cow” – you will cop a deal with.

That is everyone but the American people.

Florida’s raging battle over Choice/Charter/Vouchers is beginning to take on a sickening level. Actually there is no difference between the “money men” involved in vouchers, choice and charters. They are all part of the same pot with the same legislature passing all this lenient legislation.

Vouchers/Choice nor Charters do not get our children away from Common Core and I thought that was the main issue. The Florida Supreme court has already ruled once against Vouchers being unconstitutional according to the state statutes. The legislature did it anyway and now they are back in court.

Politics did had its ugly hand in the last election when it came to education right down to the local boards. There is no love loss by me for the “Step Up For Student’s” and nor should there be for you. They are just another “cash cow” looking to fill coffers in the name of the “low-income” children. But they all have been playing the low-income game since 1965 and it never gets any better. Why? They all continue to use those children as scape goats rather encouraging them and laying out the world in front of them. Money does not buy good education!

Interesting the support of the voucher programs and like the Charter school mess, there is no one minding the store. There are so many scandals surrounding the McKay Scholarship program along with the legislation that was passed that even though a Private school is receiving Public taxpayer funds, they don’t have to abide by FOIA requests. So who is minding the stores?

David Figlio of Northwestern University, who has evaluated the scholarship program on an annual basis for the state – guess whose side he’s on. If he is being paid by the state, you need to look no further.

Some in Florida believe that in re-electing Scott he would be “thankful” and be willing to talk “dump the CCSS” completely. That is not going to happen. Not only is the man a businessman first and foremost, he never (even in his own lawsuit) faces his accusers nor answers questions about anything.

Although it was Charlie Crist and the Republican House & Senate that gave Florida the CCSS, the state would have been better off to elect Crist since the monopoly of republicans in Tallahassee would never have given Crist anything he wanted. They won’t give it to us either.

Nor will those in D.C. The republicans took charge of the House and Senate in ’94 and ’02 and exactly what did that give us?  Promises!

You are right if you think my faith in any politician has flown out the proverbial window and I still don’t understand why you put all of your faith in them rather than your own intelligence especially after they have lied to you so many times. Most should have been removed from their jobs at the local level already. You would have been!

They are ruining our children’s futures, actively working at creating the North American Union as a prelude to the New World Order and pushing your children into UN/UNESCO communist education .

As J. Edgar Hoover (FBI) stated at the time Eisenhower signed The Communist Control Act in 1954, “you are forcing the Communist Party movement to go underground” which is exactly what it did for a period of time. Once they realized no one was going to act on the ACT, they began to slowly surface through the building up of unions and control all over the country. We now even openly elect communists into elected offices.

I see this country as having been an expansive experiment – touched by the hand of God, implemented by Godly people and what do we have today? Nothing but scraps left – 97% of the people asleep or could care less. If you are sitting on the sidelines watching what politicians have done to this country with their egos and self-serving attitude it is truly a sad sight.

I sincerely hope more states are successful in gaining back the control of the education of their children and along with that the morals and values that were once the strong force behind this great country.

“Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number. democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude and Democracy extends the sphere of individual freedom, socialism restricts it. Democracy attaches all possible value to each man; socialism makes each man a mere agent, a mere number”.    Alexis de Tocqueville  1848

Do We Protect Our Children Or Sexual Deviates? Part 3

What are “sexual deviates?
• A type of mental disorder characterized by a preference for or obsession with unusual sexual practices, as pedophilia, sadomasochism, or exhibitionist behavior.

Then you have the legal definition of which I am going to let you look up as it is almost as disgusting as the actions themselves.

You may be asking why I am continuing on this path of writing and it is because of my love and fear for our children. Deviates are lurking around corners everywhere – schools, churches, malls, ball fields, legislative halls. LEGISLATIVE HALLS? How can that be? Well in some cases they are the ones passing legislation which sets our children up for being vulnerable.

ELECTED, APPOINTED and those with the MONEY OFFICIALS! This includes Obama, Lamar Alexander, Bill Gates, Jeb Bush, the United Nations, Human Traffickers and many more to include anyone who has a hand in pushing off on our children through education in the classrooms of our schools deviant behavior or sexual education which is beyond their years.

Innosense 2In fact, most of it has no place in the classrooms of our schools. Along with the Common Core has come the “National Sexuality Education Standards”. Another opportunity for the Federal government and other agencies to determine what is best for OUR children whether it is age appropriate or not.

According to the timeline of those “National” standards:
By the end of the 2nd grade they are to be able to describe the differences and similarities in how boys and girls may be expected to act and they are going to provide the examples. Is this going to include teaching them about the government’s endorsement of gay, lesbian and transgender behaviors even to passing legislation to support this?

Also by the end of the 2nd grade they are to “identify the different family structures demonstrating they should show respect and acceptance of those differences. We are talking about 7 year olds here. I don’t believe a 7 year old should have to be concerned with these issues – in many ways they are still babies.

Let's define EverthingIt is only “normal” to have to “identify” different family structures because the government is fueling every bit of immorality that has been washed over this country. Social justice being the 2 words that no one can give the same definition to at any given time. Yet WE are all to follow the path of social justice which is immorality, turning away from GOD and adding fuel to the fire of constantly creating division in this country among the people.

The term JUSTICE is difficult to define since justice is a concept, an idea, an invention of the human mind. Like other concepts such as truth, liberty, fairness and justice, it means what people want it to mean at any given time.

By the end of the 5th grade, they are not only supposed to be able to define both the male and female reproductive parts and how they function and define sexual orientations as the “romantic” attraction of an individual to a person of the “same” or “opposite” sex. TEN year olds.

This push for the “sexual” power over our children is also bringing them to have to decide in many cases to go against their religion since the government is also supporting the murders of the unborn. The last session of the United Nations on the “Rights of Women and Children” showed everyone clearly that the push for the support of what some of us refer to as “immoral” is to be commonplace. (I will discuss this in Part 4).

So not only do we have “standards” the teacher is supposed to go by in teaching SEX to our children rather than a true education, but they are being given reading material that endorses some of these behaviors and these books are being passed off as “great works of literature”.

I suggest everyone check with their schools, school library, schools approved book list and the public library to see if the following are part of the “allowed”. I want to remind you as I stated in Part 1 and Part 2 of this series, some of this push to the support of the gay side to our school children has been going on for some time with the approval of the schools.

“The Little Black Book – Queer in the 21st Century” was distributed to hundreds of kids (middle school age and up) at Brookline High School, Brookline, MA. It was written by the Boston-based AIDS Action Committee, with help with the MA Department of Public Health and the Boston Public Health Commission with financial support from GLSEN. The reasoning for the distribution of this book was in “preventing aids”. I might have bought that except for the listing of all the gay establishments that were available in the book.

The Little Black BookReminding you the event that day where this was book and “fisting kits” were distributed was designed for children and teachers across all of Mass and organized by the “Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network” (GLSEN) which has been led by the former Obama “Safe School CZAR Kevin Jennings for years. This group has also been running “Gay-Straight” clubs in public schools across America.

You must ask yourself: What kind of person would write this? What kind of person would give it to kids? Where is this movement headed? Why are the schools supporting it? If you care to verify what I am reporting here you can go to this link to view and download the full version of the book.

Here you can read Michelle Malkin’s articles regarding these events:

Parents it is up to us and the rest of us to make sure our children are not INDOCTRINATED into a world of “sex” for “sex” and that parents are given the right and authority to teach their own children about reproduction, their bodies, experiences and the rights and wrongs of life.

Parents all over the country are finding books like the following being listed as “required” or “recommended”. For myself and many others who have read or gone through these books there is a conclusion that: “There is a mind-numbing degree of indoctrination (definition: teach a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically) and (inappropriate sexual references/diagrams) found in the textbooks.”

I will once again apologize and warn the following is not for children, but parents MUST be aware of what is being put upon our children and none of it is good education.

Its Perfectly NormalI previously wrote to you about the book out there called “It’s Perfectly Normal”. This book was written by Robbie Harris who is an employee of Planned Parenthood and this book and another that Harris wrote “It’s So Amazing” are supported and endorsed by Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood and very graphic.

I remind you this book is listed on Amazon to be age appropriate at 10 years. Within “It’s Perfectly Normal” various articles are: Page 11 – Making Babies; Page 12 – Sexual Desire; Page 14 – Making Love and Sexual Intercourse; Page 16 Straight and Gay; Page 48 – Perfectly Normal – Masturbation; Page 54 – Cuddling, Kissing and Sexual Intercourse (with pictures); Page 68 – Postponement, Abstinence & Birth Control (pic shows how to put on a condom – I remind parents this book is listed for 10 year olds; Page 73 – Abortion (a few of the reasons given: parents don’t have enough money or time to take care of a baby; parents think they are too young to have a baby; female is single – no mention of Adoption as an alternative and it glazes’ over Sexual Abuse, Sexually Transmitted diseases and Aids.

IOts Perfectly Normal 3

Make LemonadeThe (NY) Council for School Supervisors and Administrators, who reviewed a recommended text, “Make Lemonade”, were disturbed by the books “sexually explicit language and content.”

The young adult novel is part of the eighth-grade Scholastic CODEX curriculum that some city schools listed this year as part of their compliance with CCSS. Some passages “worried union members, including discussions of sex and drugs,” said spokeswoman, Antoinette Isable-Jones. Isable-Jones also said the principals union sought more information on whom and how the city selected the materials recommended to schools.

Age rating for this book is 10-14 years and is about a 17 year old single mother of 2 who needs a baby-sitter and a young high school girl who takes on the job. In the review part on Amazon most of the 200+ pages are blocked out. I would be interested in knowing who the people are who wrote the remarks since all are positive and as a mother, I don’t believe our 10-14 year olds should be reading a book about sex and a positive side to being a single 17 year old with 2 children. It does also show the hardships, but neither should have to concern a 10 year old.

Black Swan Green“Black Swan Green” is addressed as a “coming of age” 13 year old boy in England in the 1980’s. My main objection to this book since I am well aware of a boy’s curiosity at that age is the author’s need to use negative language and the narrator of 13 who graphically describes his father’s genitals and a sex act. It has been suggested that because all of the excerpts do not contain explicitly sexual material some students would read only the required portions of the book.

Under New York State’s Common Core requirements, excerpts from the book “Black Swan Green”, are required reading for ninth graders. Some scoff at the idea that once the books are in a student’s possession that the sexually graphic material would be skipped over. In another section of the book, the narrator watches a couple having sex and details the sounds made by the woman involved. The words “dick,” “cock” or “erect penis” appear on at least 11 separate pages, according to several readers.

Isn’t there literature out there for our children to read and meet the CCS requirements that don’t base its story line around sex? I guess not because that has been the main push for years at our young to abolish the morals of America.

Dreaming in Cuban“Dreaming in Cuban” by Christina Garcia, is again another sexually explicit novel. Schools, especially public schools, are already high-risk environments in some communities that are struggling to contain drugs, bullying, and violence. Do such texts increase violence, teen pregnancy and drug use among susceptible, vulnerable children? I would guess the answer to that to be yes as in D.A.R.E. proved to have done with drugs. Can such novels be understood as educational? One shocked parent noted that material in Dreaming in Cuban, if filmed, would be rated R-17, but if it’s listed by CCSS, it is used in schools as “lessons” for 15 year olds.

Across the country, Buena High School in Sierra Vista, Arizona, having acknowledged parental pressure removed the sexually explicit novel. Dreaming includes teen sadomasochistic passages and it is an “exemplar text” according to the Common Core State Standards for English Arts & Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technology Subjects… Furthermore, with the study of this novel, teachers and students are sent to a website that features an interview with Garcia about her newest book—found by parents to be even more disturbing.

The most alarming CCSS selection by far is the novel “The Bluest Eye”, by Pulitzer Prize winning author, Toni Morrison. Bluest Eye, now banned from several school districts, is an explicit depiction of rape, incest, sexual violence and pedophilia. The pedophile, named Soaphead Church, claims God as his inspiration, “I work only through the Lord. He sometimes uses me to help people”. In her research on The Bluest Eye, Macey France exposes some shocking discussion by the author.

Bluest Eyes“Morrison says that she wanted the reader to feel as though they are a ‘co-conspirator’ with the rapist. She took pains to make sure she never portrayed the actions as wrong in order to show how everyone has their own problems. She even goes as far as to describe the pedophilia, rape, and incest ‘friendly,’ ‘innocent,’ and ‘tender.’ It’s no wonder that this book is in the top 10 list of most contested books in the country.”

The goal of both formal and informal education, according to the proponents of Common Core, is no longer knowledge and comprehension, but rather to change attitudes and behaviors—apparently by attempting to demoralize and desensitize our children.

Our children are being infused with physical, feel good sex not love. Probably the most destructive ideas in the history of human thought. These books invoke envy, thrive on insecurity, and end in disillusionment. They are showing lust rather than true love which cannot really be felt in the ways these books are describing them at the early age of 10. These authors treat sex and love as possessive mating, and romance as the goal that might happen, but if not Owell!

These books are not a wholesome, decent, truthful groundwork for our children maturing into well-balanced, adults/parents. The expectations being laid out before them for the most part are un-natural and un-healthy. They draw on the most destructive of emotions, deceiving the lover and seeking to imprison the beloved, making them prisoners of their emotions and at a far too young age.

So who are the deviates? Pedophiles of course be it the teacher in the schoolroom, the minister in the pulpit, the next door neighbor or a stranger lurking in the darkness. How about the Human Trafficker?

But what about the legislators, other elected officials, those appointed to oversee the textbooks that are recommended? How about the evils behind the CCS themselves and those who have written the standards? How about those that are behind the destruction of America – the World being forced into an immoral, sheppeled down society and fund this trash, laughing all the way to the bank!

How about the publishers who are feeding our children with mounds of lies in regard to Science and History? Feeding them information to be memorized and passed on which is inaccurate, revisionist, anti-American, racist, climate change propaganda based on fake science, anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, pro-Islam, Marxist, globalist, pro-Socialism/Communism, pro-homosexuality, pro-abortion and sexually explicit.

Has everyone lost their minds?

Parents you certainly have your work cut out for you. Working and having to take on your children’s education full-time is probably not something you envisioned, BUT I have to give you more.

Inform your families, neighbors, keep after even those who don’t want to hear – they must hear. And for your families and America’s sake, vote in 2014 and 2016 – not for the name you recognize, but for someone you yourself have ask questions and done your research. Heavy load I know, but one that must be taken on!

Always remember when thinking about a person running for office – “Would I really want that person to dinner, sitting at my dinner table and close to my children?” Choosing the lessor of 2 evils never works either.

Great Hearts Academies/Charter Schools

School StuffGreat Hearts America’s web site says nothing much at all except they have schools in AZ and TX and that the Chief Executive Officer is Dr. Daniel Scoggin. Prior to helping establish Great Hearts, Dr. Scoggin was the headmaster of Tempe Preparatory Academy for six years and a Humane Letters teacher and basketball coach. He holds his Ph.D. in English Literature from Claremont Graduate University and his B.A. from Santa Clara University.

The AZ web site states, “Great Hearts Academies is a non-profit network of public charter schools dedicated to improving education in the Phoenix metropolitan area by developing a network of excelling preparatory academies.

The Great Hearts academies are proving that schools can do a superb job of educating students if they are smaller, more efficient, and set higher expectations for all students through a core, classical liberal arts curriculum. A Great Hearts academy prepares its graduates for success in the best colleges and universities in the nation and to be leaders in creating a more philosophical, humane and just society.”

The web site for their Texas schools states, “Great Hearts Academies is one of the top charter school operators in the country. It currently manages 15 schools in Metro Phoenix with over 6,500 students in grades K-12 and has plans to open up to 17 schools throughout Texas. Great Hearts focuses on a classical, liberal arts curriculum with an emphasis on the Great Books and the Socratic teaching method. Great Hearts’ academies are comprehensive college prep schools, with competitive athletics and a variety of extracurricular activities, such as speech and debate, fencing, and music ensembles. Great Hearts typically receives 8-10 enrollment applications for every available spot and employs a blind lottery process for admission.

So now let’s take a look at both of the website pages on curriculum for AZ and TX.
Both state they are using a CLASSICAL curriculum and they are listed as:
 Core Knowledge Literature*
 Modified Core knowledge of History and Geography
 Core Knowledge American History & Geography**
 Core Knowledge World History & Geography**
 Modified Core Knowledge Science
 Core Knowledge Science**
 Core Knowledge Fine Arts
 Core Knowledge Studio Art**
Singapore Math* – aligned to the CCS and generally progresses to topics at an earlier grade level than indicated by the CCS
 Core Knowledge Music**
No star TX schools – * both AZ & TX schools – **AZ schools

This is not CLASSICAL education! Their lists of reading material that is acceptable is impressive but they list no “instructional manuals” of which if everything else is focused on the Common Core Standards (CCS) then the manuals would be part of the list.

Now for some needed background. Core Knowledge is an educational reform movement based on the premise that a grade-by-grade core of common learning is necessary to ensure a sound and fair elementary education. Based on a body of research in cognitive psychology and school systems operating worldwide, Core Knowledge posts that, in order to attain academic excellence, greater fairness, and higher literacy, early education curriculum should be solid, specific, shared, and sequenced. By teaching a body of specific, lasting knowledge in a way that allows children to succeed by gradually building on what they already know, the Core Knowledge mission is to provide all children, regardless of background, with the shared knowledge they need to be included in our national literate culture.

They are actually stating their goal is one thing and at the same time using the Common Core Standards aligned curriculum (Core Knowledge) giving our children something else. The alignment of Core Knowledge to the CCSS is here. Their standards alignment can be seen here.

The Core Knowledge Foundation that serves as the support system for Core Knowledge schools, educators, and parents. The Foundation conducts research on curricula; develops books and other materials for students, parents, and teachers; and serves as a training and communications hub for schools using Core Knowledge.

Who started all this leading to being aligned to the Common Core Standards? No not John Dewey but a man named E. D. Hirsch. A new name to think on!

“Hirsch’s awakening began one day in 1978 in a community college English class in Richmond, Virginia. He had conducted most of his research on reading comprehension and writing at the University of Virginia.

He also as far back as 1998 was working in conjunction with Chester Finn (I know you all know who that is) and other key players together in restructuring America’s curriculum and standards to fall in line with Direct Instruction/Mastery Learning/OBE (page 226) are necessary for global workforce training which is outcome, results, performance-based training—not education. Education has not been performance-based, traditionally—with the exception of the arts—since traditional education deals with the intellect, not just knee-jerk muscle movements based on Pavlov and B.F. Skinner’s stimulus-response (S-R-S). The computer has all the bells (rewards) and whistles (punishments) to achieve OBE’s standards in the academic, workforce, and value change areas. The new label for the old OBE is now “standards-based education.”

Rep or DemIf you went to page 226 you probably have seen those exercises or some similar of which have been shown in today’s Common Core curriculum being used in various states and published by Pearson:
 FIFTH GRADE: Develop a flag, seal, symbol, pledge and/or national anthem for a new country…. Design a postage stamp to be used worldwide. The stamp should denote what the world would need to make it a better place….
 SIXTH GRADE: Draw national symbols for an imaginary nation….
 SEVENTH GRADE: Understand the need for interdependence….
 NINTH GRADE: Write a constitution for a perfect society.

This is when all the traitors were putting their heads together with Bill Gates and Carnegie to form Achieve, Inc.; with former Gov. Jim Hunt (NC), Marc Tucker, Lou Gerstner, Jr., Chester Finn, Rex Tillerson and others to ruin this country.

There was a recipe to bring forth this international curriculum/workforce training agenda. “Deliberate Dumbing Down” pgs. A126-130:
 Federal/International Control of Education
 Passage of Goals 2000 (done), STW Opportunities Act (done), Careers Act.(Done)
 Funding (Careers Act & Reading Excellence Act)
 Skinnerian Method (Done with the Reading Excellence Act)
 Sequential Core Curriculum (Done)
 Global Ethics/Values (in progress)
 Technology which includes robotics and computer-assisted instruction (programmed learning) (Done)
 Choice – tuition tax credits, vouchers, charter schools, use of public education facilities and materials by home schoolers, apprenticeships with corporations which are in partnership with government (corporate fascism)
 Teacher Union Support – American Federation of Teachers & NEA (Done)
ccs education for all 2The United Nations/UNESCO was not to be left out of this enormous plan to steal our children’s futures. Sustainable development cannot occur “without freedom, justice, and democracy,” says Federico Mayor, director-general of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). “Sustainable development requires sustainable democracy,” he added in an April 7, 1997 address before the International Steering Committee of CIVITAS, an international consortium for civic education that is holding its spring meeting at the White House conference center.
ccs education for all 7
CIVITAS was initiated in June 1995 at the CIVITAS Prague conference. Following that meeting, participants representing 50 nations signed a declaration pledging “to create and maintain a worldwide network that will make civic education a higher priority on the international agenda.”

Given all this information, parents need to come to terms with the fact that this plan of ruination of our children’s education and futures has been in the works for a very long time and a large number of those individuals involved over the years are still here harassing us.

Heartland Academies has been trying to get a foot hold in Florida and there are people here who support them because they say they are teaching “classical” education which is not possible if you are using Core Knowledge curriculum’s which are aligned with the CCS. Also the people supporting Heartland have not bothered to check them out or don’t want to believe the truth.
Charter Privai
Florida doesn’t need any more Charter School Management companies for-profit here using our tax dollars to fill their coffers. All the money being spent and wasted on most Charter schools could be used to help regular public schools of which are not failing at the rate charter schools are. Jeb Bush will never admit to that. Non-profit Charter schools if they are teaching the CCS are no different from a regular public school so why the push for charter schools?

Unelected school boards using the public’s tax dollars leaving parents/taxpayers out of the equation which in simple terms is “taxation without representation. It is also a plan for the movement toward the NWO.

WHAT HAVE THEY DONE?

Grades 2This past weekend the story was released about the consequences of the State School Board agreeing to play games with the Florida grading system AGAIN!

Although the information in the story in the Orlando Sentinel is unsettling it once again shows how the state continues to mess with the education of our children – from the standards, to the curriculum, to the textbooks, to the grading system. Are they ever going to learn to just give our children a good education with the very best teachers, curriculum, textbooks and all the rest that goes with it rather than continually changing the rules of the game and playing with their futures?

Just who is their allegiance to – our children or the money men?

What Floridians Against Common Core Education is actually more concerned about is the drastic drop in some of the grades of the schools. Focusing on Central Florida since that is the information that was in the article, someone please explain to me how a consistently A school over a 5 year period drops to an actual D but is given a C. How does a B school drop to a D which would have been an F?
cHANGE gRADES

COMMON CORE???? The reports that have been out by parents show a major increase in frustration by the elementary school children. How does the state school board, legislators and governor explain the dramatic drop? This is not just a matter of changing the grading system.

Information on the states “School Accountability Reports” site does not have the scores posted for 2011-2012 or 2012-2013 years – so the grades I followed were from the 2006-2007 through 2010-2011. Even with the missing 2 year reports the grade drops for the schools mentioned – there needs to be a reason and the only thing really new is the Common Core Standards along with the new curriculum and textbooks.

Parents should not be willing to “just accept” whatever is being handed out but full explanations need to be forthcoming from the local school districts, individual schools and the State Department of Education and the State School Board.

A statement such as the one by Patricia Levesque, Jeb Bush’s Chief of Staff at both his foundations, ‘this just highlight’s where students are struggling the most and it’s been powerful”. The Bush Foundations have pushed for the A-F grading system which there is nothing wrong with that – just pick a system and stick with it.

Levesque went on to say “too many changes were made too quickly to the grading formula that now must be simplified”. Do you think? At the push from your foundations to get all your ideas in place at what cost just as you have done with the implementation of the Common Core Standards and the Charter/Choice boondoggle. Although the foundation was opposed to the State Board’s decision to make the changes last July because it would prevent schools with the lower grades from getting the resources they needed.

What resources? Moving the students to a Charter school? They are quick to note that under Florida law parents have the ability to move their children from D or F schools to Charter/Choice.

Now I have another question for all of you. Knowing Common Core has been set up to be instituted in every public and private school in this state, why is Jeb Bush still pushing Charter/Choice?????

UNELECTED school boards who for taxpayers means “taxation without representation” and using our children once again as “Human Capital” in public private partnerships! “They” just never stop!

Jeb Bush has a financial interest in all of this and never forget it!
Bricks and mortar
Accountability is the key word and they are intending on sweeping this under the bricks and mortar!

The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #3

FDOE SealThis will come as a surprise to you, everything about the nation’s educational system does, but Congress back in 1970 recognized that the federal government is supposed to have limited authority when it comes to education. An amended General Education Provisions Act specifically articulated a “Prohibition against Federal Control of Education.

It forbids the federal government from exercising any “direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration or personnel of any education institution, school, or school system, or over the selection of library resources, textbooks, or other printed or published instructional materials by any educational institution or school system.”

The loophole through which the subversion of our education system was accomplished was federal funding of “research” and “development.”

By the 1980’s (see the previous two editions of Warning Signs for a look at the 1960’s and 1970’s by clicking on the Archives below) the effort to turn schools from places where students actually learn something to places where their values, beliefs, and cognitive skills were determined by “Outcome Based Education”, behavior modification programs. The objective of these programs is to turn students in to little citizens of a one-world government where they are mere economic units, not individuals, nor people who give much thought to individual liberty.

Individual liberty was the reason the American Revolution was fought and is the philosophical basis for every word in the US Constitution. A generation or two of Americans who are systematically robbed of any knowledge of this are ripe for an authoritarian takeover.

The father of this movement is Prof. Benjamin Bloom and his book, “All Our Children learning”. Published in 1981, it is the bible of OBE. In it he says, “The purpose of education and the schools is to change the thoughts, feelings, and actions of students.” No, the purpose of education is to provide students with a sufficient knowledge of basic skills in writing, reading, arithmetic, as well as history and the sciences. Thus prepared, they are likely to be the kind of citizens that will question efforts to deprive this nation of its sovereignty in favor of a world government run out of the United Nations.

It gets worse. Writing in The Effective School Report, Dr. Thomas A. Kelly, Ph.D., stated that “The brain should be used for processing, not storage.” This is the view of education that says you prepare students to take a test determined by federal standards of what they should know. The student is merely to process predetermined bits and pieces of information. The best example of this is the rat’s maze where the rat learns to follow a specific path to get a piece of cheese.
Indoctrinate U
This is a simplified explanation of why today’s children have difficulty acquiring and retaining a body of useful, long-term information such as multiplication tables or who the nation’s presidents have been, the 50 States of the Union, when the Civil War was fought, where India can be found on a map, the names of the earth’s oceans, et cetera!

The whole movement to utterly change the direction and purpose of our nation’s schools picked up momentum in the 1980’s and, sorry to say it, it occurred on Ronald Reagan’s watch. The harsh truth about the subversion of the nation’s schools has not been a Democratic or Republican program. It has occurred no matter who was in office or who controlled Congress. It happened because few politicians were paying any attention to what was really occurring over at the Department of Education.

In her book, “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America”, Charlotte Thompson Iserbyt, says, “The real purpose of this project was to propose a radical redesign of the nation’s education system from one based on inputs to one based on outputs.” It switched, in other words, from a curriculum of content a student was required to learn, to a series of answers the student was supposed to repeat when tested. Or as Iserbyt explains it, the system turned away “from one oriented toward the learning of academic content to one based on performance of selected skills, necessary for the implementation of school-to-work” The schools, with direction from the DOE and grants from major foundations, as well as input from corporate leaders, were redesigned to produce workers.

Well, what’s so bad about that? We need workers. Ask anyone responsible for the management of any size organization, from a local bakery to a major corporation, what their primary problem is and they will tell you it’s finding good workers. That is to say, finding people with even the most basic education or skills to perform any job with a minimum of competency. That is the result of the education system that has been foisted on this nation.

Take away their pocket calculators and the newest generation of workers cannot add or subtract. Take away “spell check” on their computers and they are helpless to spell accurately. These are basic skills Americans used to learn in one-room schoolhouses heated with a wood-burning oven. They could also tell you the branches of the US government and a whole lot more than today’s graduates.

In the 1980’s the DOE says Iserbyt, “effectively transformed the essential character of the nation’s public schools from ‘teaching’—the most traditional and conservative role of schools—to ‘workforce training’—perceived as liberal and ‘progressive.'” It is a particular irony that one of Ronald Reagan’s campaign platforms was the abolishing of the Department of Education. He was right. He didn’t do it.
Why Do We Need Schools
What, in fact, happened was that control of the schools and their curriculum’s increasing moved up the decision-making ladder away from local school boards and even state education departments. Administrators and teachers were delighted with this because it eliminated the “meddling” of locally elected and locally responsible school board members.

The instrument for this was the development of a “Course Goals Collection” completed by the DOE in 1980-81. “The collection consists of fourteen volumes with 15,000 goals covering every major subject taught in the public schools from K-12.” Remember that 1970 prohibition on any federal government involvement in instruction? Nobody else did either.

In 1981, 70,000 copies were distributed, despite the fact that only approximately 16,000 school districts existed. And you wonder why every state now has the same goals? With remarkable success, Outcome-Based Education became the way American students were to be trained to believe the same things, have the same values, and to ignore those they were taught at home.

This is important because values are supposed to be the job of parents. Some parents are Catholic. Some parents are Protestant. Some are Jewish or Moslum. Some are liberal and some are conservative. Their values no longer seem to matter. That’s why there no longer is a moment of prayer in any school in America. That’s why the school day often does not begin with the salute to the flag or a recitation of a pledge of allegiance. Much of the day is spent “teaching to the test” whose standards were determined in Washington, D.C., not by the parents, not by the local school board, not by anyone you know!

How was this achieved? Because, according to a 1981 report by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, “Federal funds account for approximately ten percent of national expenditures on education. The Federal share of educational research and related activities, however, is ninety percent of the total national investment.”

Deliberate dumbing downThus, as Iserbyt notes in her book, “just about everything that goes on in the classrooms of American public schools, with the exception of salaries, school buildings, buses, and the purchase of equipment, is either a direct or indirect result of funding by the U.S. Department of Education as research!”

It should come as no surprise that, by the end of the 1980Õs, writing in the January 25, 1989 issue of Education Week, Chester E. Finn, Jr., the former head of the DOE’s research branch, would tell business leaders that he favored a “national curriculum.” Flashback to the congressional prohibition on a curriculum determined at the federal level. Consider it null and void. The people in the DOE obviously did.

Little wonder, too, that in 1989, then-President George H. Bush unveiled “America 2000” (now known as “Goals 2000”) to the National Governor’s Association that virtually set in concrete the whole behavior modification movement that has been foisted on the American education system.

That same year, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s Elementary Global Education Framework was announced. Its goals were to create “Human beings whose home is planet earth, who are citizens of a multicultural democratic society in an increasingly interconnected world, and who learn, care, think, choose, and act, to celebrate life on this planet, and to meet the global challenges confronting Humankind.”

NO! We are talking about AMERICAN students going to AMERICAN schools in the sovereign nation of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We are not sending kids to school to become citizens of the world, programmed to deal with global challenges, i.e., threats to the environment that require we all cut back on the use of energy or pick up the bill to bring developing nations up to speed. That is exactly the game plan of the United Nations and the worldwide conspiracy of socialists masquerading as environmentalists.

That is, however, what is going on in our schools TODAY. That’s why President George W. Bush’s proposal to throw $5 billion at those schools, presumably to teach a subject, reading, they should already be teaching, is a continuation of the same bad ideas that president’s since Eisenhower have been rubber-stamping. And then ignoring.

The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #2

Just how did education in America turn from being a system that imparts knowledge to one that uses behavior modification techniques to influence the attitudes and beliefs of those passing through it?

nclbTo achieve this, beginning in the 1960’s, the perpetrators of the subversion have employed deception to achieve their goals. Earlier this month, a New Jersey daily newspaper ran an editorial, “Let board members speak”, noting that members of a local school board had been restricted from speaking to the press to avoid “confusion” about the board’s programs and objectives. “But this isn’t about ‘confusion’,” said the editorial. “It’s about control”, adding “And it is insulting to the public and the idea of open local government.”

There is nothing “open” about the effort to subvert education in America. It only has that appearance because it takes place at presumably local school boards or in a state education department. Always, the vehicle is a governmental agency. The controlling player, however, is the US Department of Education.

The objective of those who control our educational systems has long been to produce poorly educated, little world citizens, ready to forego the liberties guaranteed by the oldest living Constitution. The system introduced into American schools mirrors the Soviet and Communist Chinese systems that produce a compliant and complacent population.

To achieve this, they have had to dumb-down the students passing through the system. On February 17, 2001, the Los Angeles Times reported that the president of the University of California “wants to eliminate the SAT as a requirement for admission to all eight of the university’s undergraduate campuses.” What a great way to further dilute all standards for academic achievement!NCLB Signing

In January 2001, the Times reported that the University of California kicked out 2,009 students, six percent of last year’s freshman class, for failing to master basic math and English skills in their first year of classes. These are skills that should have been mastered in their first twelve years in California schools! It means that the diplomas they received are worthless pieces of paper.

This pattern repeats itself from state to state because it is the educational system that is failing American students. The President’s emphasis on testing misses the point entirely!

In the January/February 2001 issue of The American Enterprise, devoted to why some few schools succeed while the majority fail, Karl Zinsmeister writes that “it’s extremely interesting how many common traits are shared by the successful schools we profile. A remarkably similar basic formula applies in almost all of these places: high demands on students, strict discipline, a strong and unapologetic moral component, including a respect for religion, an emphasis on teaching intellectual basics, a preference for time-tested books and curricula, clear standards of dress, grooming, and comportment, and an insistence on politeness, respect and courtesy.”

Compare that to schools in your area where the way students dress is an offense to decorum, the language they use is replete with profanities, and their chief complaint is that they have too much homework.

President Bush has bought into the Education Establishment’s systematic stupification of students. He is not the first President to fall prey to this effort. To learn the facts, you must read The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt.

The President has proposed a five billion-dollar program to help children learn to read. Please! Please, please, will someone explain to me why spending even more money will answer the question of why our schools, soaking up billions a year, are NOT teaching this already?

One need only look at the realities of education in Texas to see why the call for national testing standards is a deception. An excellent article by Jerry Jesness in the November 2000 issue of Reason magazine blows away the hype about the test scores of Texas students. Despite apparent improvements, a closer look at the test scores of basic skills places young Texans in 39th place for SAT scores.

In 1984, the State adopted the Texas Educational Assessment of Minimal Skills that established minimal standards for graduation. The result has been that a considerable amount of time is spent “teaching to the test” in schools throughout Texas. Students are taught strategies to pass the text. For example, the acquisition of real arithmetical skills is sacrificed to methods that include drawing and counting sticks! This is not progress and the test is, essentially, meaningless.

All this was foretold back in the 1970’s as the “educrats” continued their efforts to undermine the teaching of basic knowledge. In 1976, Catherine Barrett, then president of the National Education Association, gave a speech in which she said, “First, we will help all of our people understand that school is a concept and not a place. We will not confuse “schooling” with education. The school will be the community, the community the school.” This predates Hillary Clinton’s “it takes a village” concept, but it reflects a communist view that all of society must be employed to form the views of students. Individualism is bad. Conforming to the group is good.

Barrett went on to say “We will need to recognize that so-called basic skills, which currently represent nearly the total effort in elementary schools, will be taught in one quarter of the present school day. The remaining time will be devoted to what is truly fundamental and basic—time for academic inquiry, time for students to develop their own interests, time for a dialogue between students and teachers, more than a dispenser of information, the teacher will be a conveyor of values, a philosopher. Students will learn to write love letters and lab notes.”

You may want to read this again. The then-head of the NEA was talking about turning the school day into one devoted to just about everything other than the teaching of reading, writing and arithmetic. Teachers were, instead, to become “agents of change.”

nclb-horsey-cartoonThe change incorporated into today’s educational programs is intended to change the entire social structure of our society and the values that had made it great. Competition and achievement in the acquisition of basic knowledge and the skills to implement that knowledge are jettisoned in favor of changing attitudes about family, patriotism, religion, and sexuality. Look around you and ask yourself why we now except all forms of “families.” Look around you and ask why we live in a cultural environment drenched with sexuality without responsibility. Ask yourself why millions fail to vote. Look at the way the expression of religious values is continually derided.

In 1972, Dr. Chester M. Pierce, MD, of Harvard University wrote an article entitled “Becoming Planetary Citizens: A Quest for Meaning” that appeared in the November issue of Childhood Education. He was concerned that children, by the age of five, “already have a lot of political attitudes”, among which were “a tenacious loyalty to his country and its leader.” What he wanted was a child who entered kindergarten “with the same kind of loyalty to the earth as to his homeland.”

This is a formula for degrading patriotism and loyalty to everything for which this nation stands in favor of creating citizens of the “global government” being pursued by the United Nations and the environmentalism that preaches against the use of the earth’s natural resources.

All throughout the 1970’s, the Federal government funded these goals. Local educational systems were taken over by programs designed to destroy local control. I do not want President Bush’s education proposals to succeed because they reflect the continued subversion of our nation’s schools by the Department of Education.

The process dates back to the 1960’s, continued through the 1970’s, and in the following discussion of education in America, we will see how they increased through the 1980’s.

The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #1

This 4 part series was written some years back by Alan Caruba from the Anxiety Center and is extremely well written to show parents how, what and who is happening to their children’s education. It is more important today than it was when he wrote it. I am presenting it in the 4 parts so you can take your time to read it and let it sink in.

Deliberate dumbing down Charlotte Iserbyt, in her wisdom and love of children has given her permission for this series to be re-published. Thank you Ms. Charlotte, for without your friendship and knowledge I would still be in the dark!

I’ll bet you think that the problems with our nation’s schools are a fairly recent phenomenon. Wrong. It dates backs to the 1960’s. Those that have implemented the subversion of our educational system have sought to fly well below the radar of public awareness, depending on stealth and duplicity to achieve the wreckage that has already stunted the lives of thousands who have passed through it.

No other topic has evoked as much email as did our weekly “Warning Signs” commentary, “Indoctrination, Not Education.” Good. Time to wake up America!
In this and three other commentaries, I will walk you through the history of the problem with the help of an extraordinary book, “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America” by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt. The facts I will share with you are found in a fat compendium of research by this former senior official with the US Department of Education who discovered the mother lode, copied it, and fled. She is one of America’s unsung heroes.dunce-cap-120x150

As Iserbyt points out, in the 1960’s “American education would henceforth concern itself with the importance of the group rather than with the importance of the individual.” The purpose of education would shift to focus on the student’s emotional health, rather than academic learning. Remember the 1960’s? Sex, drugs and rock’n roll? Drop out, tune in, and turn on? Just about everything that is wrong with America today had its genesis in this pathetic decade of youthful self-indulgence.”

In 1965, there were two major federal initiatives developed with funding from The Elementary and Secondary Education Act passed that year. One was the 1965-1969 Behavioral Science Teacher Education Program and the other was the publication by the government of “Pacesetters in Innovation”, a 584-page catalogue of behavior modification programs to be used by the schools.

Let me repeat that: a catalogue of behavior modification programs! We’re not talking of programs to teach students anything. We are talking about programs to indoctrinate children passing through the system to believe in values contrary to those on which this nation was based.

In brief, the intention was to create a generation or two of Americans who would accept the United Nations, not the United States, as their new “nation”, a global nation, one-world government. The last thing the conspirators wanted was a nation of individuals who could or would actually think for themselves. This is how we ended up with Bill Clinton, the classic student achiever of the 1960’s.

Iserbyt writes that, “In 1960, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Convention Against Discrimination was signed in Paris. This convention laid the groundwork for control of American education, both public and private, by UN agencies and agents.”

Now connect the dots. In 1960, “Soviet Education Programs: Foundations, Curriculums, Teacher Preparation” was published under the auspices of the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare. It was the blueprint for the US school-to-work restructuring that would take place and it would rely on the “Pavlovian conditioned reflex theory.” The mastermind of mind control and conditioning was a psychologist, Dr. B.F. Skinner who was the guru of the mess that passes for education in America today.

Though hard to believe even now, the US adopted the Soviet Communist approach to education. In 1961, Rep. John M. Ashbrook tried to alert Congress to what was happening. Citing a document published by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare called “A Federal Education Agency for the Future, ” he called the new education programs “a blueprint for complete domination and direction of our schools from Washington. Guess what? He was right.

That is why the educational reform this nation really needs is the complete elimination of the US Department of Education. It won’t happen. For the same reason we are now only learning that those “Red baiters” of the 1950’s were right to assert the Department of State was shot through with Communists, no one in 2001 is going to believe that the US Department of Education is modeled on Communist theories.

Jeb Bush’s Anti-Public School Rant!

jebbushfrownyListen to his words! His arrogance! Toting his young “glory-boy” son who is being groomed to be a George Bush III (his actual name is George Prescott Bush after his great-grandfather Prescott Bush – you know – the one who supported the Nazi’s against America during WWII) Jeb Bush took his tour to “Education Weary” Texas on Tuesday to push his for-profit Charter schools!

Scathing Purple Musings by Bob Sikes – Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and his rising-political-star son, George P. Bush, urged Texas on Tuesday to dismantle the “monopoly of public education” (1) by dramatically expanding access to charter schools, embracing online learning and overhauling how teachers are evaluated.

But neither man offered any hints about his political future.

The elder Bush, who is often mentioned as a possible contender for president in 2016, told an education forum organized by the Texas Business Leadership Council, “I urge you to be big and bold, and if people get offended, so what?” (2)

“Politics can’t always be like mamby-pamby land,” (3) said Bush, who said America’s public schools have for too long been organized to best suit the “economic needs of adults” such as unionized teachers and school administrators, rather than students (4).

Floridians have always known that Bush feels this way, but he never dared dropping this kind of Hateorade in a place where a Florida reporter would hear it. Speaking in a state more red than a Radio Flyer, Bush knew this red meat would play well.

But Bush’s rhetoric is becoming easier to fact check and dismiss. Yesterday’s release of the prospectus from one of his top financial backers in Pearson, revealed which adults were having their “economic needs” met. The “monopoly’ that exists now is controlled by Bush’s cartel of backers.

What Jeb Bush showed is complete without some overplay of the Florida model? Bush didn’t disappoint:

Bush said that the Florida Virtual School, the nation’s oldest and largest vendor, now offers 400,000 courses via Internet, and 45 percent of Florida students currently are enrolled in charter schools, online classes or some other form of learning other than traditional public schools….
(5)

…and this

But Bush said public schools here and elsewhere have become “a public, unionized monopoly” and that the only way to weaken it is to expand school choice while tightening teacher evaluation standards and limiting tenure.

Bush probably left through the side door without taking questions like he did after parting the waters inside the Florida House two weeks ago. His act doesn’t work if he has to entertain tricky questions about the “imploding” of Florida’s accountability system that legislators are having to deal with next month. Nor does he want to admit that his hand-picked education commissioner, Tony Bennett, has been forced to talk Plan B on Bush’s Common Core Initiative that Pearson was going to cash in on with PARCC tests.(6)

He inflates the percentage of students enrolled in the options of his choosing without telling Texans that a plurality of those students are enrolled in an online class because he rammed through a mandate that required it for graduation. (7)

Moreover, a shocking number of high school students – victims of his test-based curriculum – are enrolled in online credit recovery classes which all are run by other financial backers of Bush. Most of the expansion of charter schools in Florida has been leveraged by legislative fiat that Bush’s foundation authored.

Bush’s reforms in Texas don’t enjoy the easy path that they do in Florida where he still controls the republican party.(8) Even in Indiana where Tony Bennett once ruled, Republicans are halting Common Core. Same story in Alabama. Bush twisted choice ideals to benefit his financial backers. But he doesn’t want states to have their own choices on curriculum. The jig is up on Bush’s choice for me and not for thee.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Diane’s Remarks:
(1) Not sure how Bush see’s our public schools as a monopoly when they have the local school districts, state DOE, State school board and the Federal government “overseeing”, funding and laying the ground rules for everything they do. I would agree the Federal government is trying to make them a monopoly with the Federal government in Charge but then Mr. Bush, it is your Charter schools that are supposed to be helping that long with their “unelected school boards.
(2) ‘Offended? I seem to recall 2 weeks ago Bush was whining and making up excuses for the report by “In the Public Interest” as to his relationship with the Florida DOE! READ
(3)”Politics can’t always be like mamby-pamby land” – POLITICS has absolutely no business in education – it is Bush who has put POLITICS squarely at the feet of our children using them as human collateral. Oh how I would love to be a fly on the wall when you monsters are gathered together talking about your deceit!
(4) Bush continues to claim his push for Charter schools is for the “good” of the children – I beg to differ with you sir – it is all about the financial bottom line of your backers and yourself. You could care less about these children or you would not be pushing CCS.
(5) First, Bush needs to check his own School Choice website – He stated 45% of Florida’s students are enrolled in Charter schools when by his own web site they state for the 2012-2013 school year there are 570 Charter schools in Florida with approx. 200,000 students. Now, the 400K figure might hold water in that he (Bush) got legislation passed in Florida to require students to take at least 1 Virtual class to be able to graduate (this would certainly help to implode Bush’s numbers but his calculations lead others to believe he has that many Charter schools and students) and anyone with a kindergarten graduation diploma knows that was to fatten the “pockets of Bush backers.”
(6) Common Core Standards are being pushed by Jeb Bush and all of his Chief’s for Change” – want to take a guess why that it?
(7) Florida Charter school truth – Businesses with a Vested interest in the Charter school scam will tell only one side of the story — their side. But if you asked the Parents of students from the closed Charter schools you will get another story. For starters, charter schools fail and close at an alarming rate. One of every five has failed to keep its doors open. Last year charter schools accounted for nearly 50 percent of the state’s F-rated schools, even though they accounted for only 11 percent of the total public schools. (Let us not forget, “in the beginning” it was Jeb Bush who said he was starting the CHARTER school racket because ALL PUBLIC schools were bad and failing at an outrageous rate – “we need to have more accountability”. Maybe we need more accountability from Mr. Bush and his cronies!
Put it another way: Charter schools are seven times more likely to fail.
Yet Florida politicians barreled ahead, bowing to Bush and vowing to pour more and more tax dollars into this flawed system — and now they’re talking about doubling the number of kids in charter schools. Apparently Bush’s idea of “accountability” is only for traditional schools.
At one failed venture — Imani Elementary in Orlando, FL — students lacked books, missed tests and basically lost an entire year’s worth of education as the school racked up debt of more than $400,000 and did not inform parents of the impending closure! Just where does the debt go when a Charter school closes – would you like to guess? Given the fact Florida’s charter-school law strips away many of the accountability requirements faced by other public schools, Mr. Bush is again speaking in “double-speak”. He stated that was why we need schools to be Charter schools! He will never talk about the “closed” Charter schools and when you mention Bush’s original Charter school start in Miami, he doesn’t even remember the name of the school – that because it is also closed!
Even when charter schools appear to have broken the law or failed their students with misuse of funds, lack of equipment, and uncertified teachers – they have multiple chances to improve or appeal, a process that can stretch for months or longer. And when local school boards want to close a Charter school, the Bush injected State School board always steps in and that does not happen. How is that improving the accountability or education of our children to sit in an F school for 2-3 years?????
How is your state handling a failing Charter school? Have you looked at the legislation in your state regarding Charter Schools?
Gov. Rick Scott and Republican legislators have tripped over themselves to blame unions, lazy teachers and bureaucracies. Yet, when charter schools fail, they don’t say a word. In fact, when then Commissioner and Jeb Bush Chief’s for Change Gerard Robinson toured Jacksonville about opening another KIPP school, he was asked by a reporter why he would consider opening another KIPP school when those already open were failing? Robinsons response – “we don’t use that as a consideration”!
On the other side of the coin their are some very good Charter schools, but the underlying cronyism and manipulation to force all public schools to become Charter schools “for-profit” is just plain wrong and needs to be stopped!
Bottom line is – who is “minding the store”? Certainly no one but the taxpayers!
