School Choice: The Hidden Dangers! Must Be Watched Videos!

It is essential that parents and parents-to-be fully understand what is happening in our education system and to fully understand what “School Choice” means to them and their children. When every education system offered (public, charter, voucher private/religious) must be aligned to a certain set of standards, that is NOT a choice.

Again I want to remind you this slow shift in the control of your children through their education has been around for over 100 years. This is not a PARTY “D” or “R” thing, both are involved. What you are seeing is a “pass of control” if you will, from the “unions to the corporate” cronies or from one group of “bad guys” to another group of “bad guys”. Understand none of them are your friends.

This is “SKILLS-BASED EDUCATION”! So you ask what is the difference between skill-based education and knowledge based education.

SKILL-BASED:  This form of education is more about teaching our children “WHAT” to think and it centers around developing and applying specific skills that can then be used to obtain the required knowledge for the workforce. From a teacher’s point of view, it changes the way lesson planning is done. Whereas before the focus would have been on how they could teach the class about a certain topic, skills-based learning means that the focus is now on how that topic can help the children to develop and learn certain skills. In other words, “dumbed down education” and this is where you get 2+2=5 or whatever a child wants. The goal is for the child to be able to justify their anser not so much as if it is correct.

ACADEMIC/KNOWLEDGE BASED:  Teaches a child “HOW” to think and to build upon the knowledge that the pupil already has. There are clear learning objectives set out which link to the activity undertaken, helping the child to see how their existing knowledge will help them to complete the task. For teachers this can mean having more one on one time with pupils to talk through how they are finding the task/subject and giving any additional help they may need. This can seem time-consuming but it will ensure that all pupils are engaged and learning during the lessons and that they will all succeed.

These videos will show you and go into more detail about behind the “double-speak” words which are being used in regard to education/school choice:

PRIVATIZATION:

Understood Meaning:  Allowing a true and free market to work i.e., private schools

Hidden Meaning:  Cronyism in the form of Public-Private Partnerships

SCHOOL CHOICE:

Understood Meaning:  A parent can choose from a wide range of different schools and options

Hidden Meaning:  Parent’s can choose from a narrow range of schools deemed acceptable by the government with no real choice

EDUCATIONAL SAVINGS ACCOUNTS:

Understood Meaning:  A tax-free savings account into which parents may place their own earnings to use for the education options they choose from for their children

Hidden Meaning:  Entitlement programs in the form of vouchers subject to total government control

ACCOUNTABILITY:

Understood Meaning:  That the system (teachers, school boards & government) are answerable to parents & taxpayers

Hidden Meaning:  Answerable to your State and through the ESEA Federal government bureaucracy

LOCAL CONTROL:

Understood Meaning:  Local school districts are setting policy

Hidden Meaning:  The state determines a narrow range in which school districts may have a narrow range of pre-selected options

COMPETENCY:

Understood Definition:  Proficiency in an academic area

Hidden Definition:  Skills-based emotional and psychological training to be used in industry (utilitarian)

“Educating” the Workforce:  The Lie we’ve Unwittingly Embraced:

Part 1   Part 2   Part 3   Part 4

Keep in mind that foundations like the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Walmart Family Foundation, ALEC, and others have invested deeply and supported BOTH Common Core and Choice/Vouchers.

Example: Education legislation just passed yesterday by Florida includes:

Praises from Jeb Bush and his lapdogs; critics are referring to it as manipulative and detrimental to traditional public schools;  the 278-page bill eliminates a section of Florida’s often-criticized, 2011 teacher merit-pay law; changes standardized testing rules; mandates 20 minutes of recess for elementary school children (exempting charter schools); expands a controversial teacher bonus program and provides new bonuses for most teachers for the next three years.

It also provides financial incentives for successful charter schools to open in neighborhoods with struggling traditional public schools and demands that school districts share some tax money with charters.

Gov. Scott’s $82.4 billion budget is a less than 1% increase from the current year. It includes $20.4 billion for PreK-12 schools, or $7,221 per student, about a $25 increase on the current year, the smallest jump since Florida began to climb out of the recession. House Speaker Corcoran’s push to use $200 million to entice charter schools to compete with chronically failing public schools and another $200 million to pay teachers bonuses based on SAT scores made the cut. (Keep in mind NO ONE will answer a question about the fraud and corruption going on within the Charter school system, not even if any of the money is being paid back or if anyone is going to jail.)There was a great deal of conversation surrounding transparency regarding the closed-door negotiations. But then the lack of transparency in Florida is nothing new since our legislature has for several years received a D or F in that area.

When called on the closed-door meetings, House Speaker Coocoran stated, “Under Article III (of the state Constitution), we have that right, and I’ve said it to you guys from the beginning: One of my biggest criticisms coming in as speaker was, we’re the body closest to the people, the Legislature. And what we’re going to do is, we’re going to go out there and we’re going to grab that authority.” Whew, he certainly sees himself as important. They change everything else in the Constitution, why never the bad things?

Lawmakers also approved legislation on Friday that would increase funding available to students under the state’s de facto voucher program and strengthen protections for expressions of religion in public schools.

Again all this entitlement and lack of oversight in regard to Charter schools with our legislators owning or being associated with Charter schools and at the same time writing and voting on Charter school legislation.

Our State colleges also took a $30.2 million cut, but then the amount being paid to college professors is enough to blow a person’s mind. The amount of debt our children graduate from college with is inexcusable. Take UCF, now the largest college in the country just gave their coach Scott Frost a 300,000 annual raise. The American Athletic Conference coach now earns $2 million per year after one season on the job.

This forward movement to control our children through education is controlling every aspect of government at this time. Parents was to fix it is to STOP re-electing these same old pieces of legislature bull and get some new blood in and if they defy us, then move them out too. They are re-call measures you know!

Betsy DeVos – A Disaster for Education?

Betsy DeVos and her husband, Dick DeVos Jr., are perhaps best known as big-time donors to Republican candidates and groups. Jeb Bush gave her the highest accolade he could from his point of view and that was Bush referring to DeVos as a major contributor to the Republican Party. The Party? That’s all?

Jeb Bush of Florida, where Ms. DeVos helped push legislation establishing tax credits for scholarships to private schools, called her an “outstanding pick,” a “passionate change agent to press for a new education vision.”

Change Agents are someone who is assigned or directed to intentionally change social attitudes, cultural values, thoughts, attitudes and morals of school children. TARGET: To change parental and church inspired morals, values and attitudes regarding life in general that are taught at home to destroy all PARENTAL INFLUENCE. Some teachers are change agents – trained to be change agents.

Not that DeVos is an excellent educator because she isn’t and not that she has worked to improve education because she hasn’t. She has offered nothing to education besides her billions because she is all about two things; the Republican Party and using her money to buy her way! DeVos in her own way is a “change agent”.

The closest she has come to actually being involved in education was in pushing policy’s which is school choice with vouchers and a side helping of charter schools. Conservative school choice activists hailed her as a disrupter, and as someone who would block what they see as Federal intrusion of local schools all the while using public tax dollars to feed into private schools. That is taxation without representation.

American parents must understand that what is wrong with the public education system is the non-educators like DeVos and legislators who know nothing about the education of children and are determined to control our children and their futures as “human capital”. The plan has been laid out for years and they have been even dumb enough to put their ideas and plans on paper.

Funneling citizens tax dollars into Charter School Management companies which include Muslim Gulen schools only to have them fail with the massive fraud, corruption, and no excuses education and the massive use of H-1B and EB5 visa’s is out of control. People like DeVos who believe they can buy their way following the “yellow brick road” to total private education and ruling the country through our children are selfish and self-centered.

This is why they are fighting so hard to gain control of home-schoolers because they know they have no control there. Those parents are still putting their tax dollars into the till while paying extra for home-school non-common core curriculums.

The DeVos campaign donation records have a very long trail. The part that bothers me is that most of those donations went to Senators who cast votes as to yes or no for her confirmation and are on the Senate education committee and subsequently on the Senate floor.

There have not been any campaign records presented that show the DeVos’ contributed to the Trump campaign of which I am not surprised as they were strong Rubio contributors.

Over the years, the DeVos’ have donated to individuals at varying levels of government who are involved in the education of our children. I personally resent these individuals who believe their money is what is required or wanted to lay out our children’s futures. That is the parent’s rights to do and one of the goals of the DeVos’ and their political friends have laid out is THEIR control of your children.

How many times must we repeat Senator Lamar Alexander’s statement of controlling our children from “cradle to grave”, “sunrise to sunset” and away from their parents? The whole thing is to break the ideology and teaching of children by their parents. Parents are to no longer to be part of the equation. LINK LINK

Remember in 1989 his goal was the development of a “brand new American school”. We are to go to the maternity wards at hospitals around the country and determine how many have been born out of wedlock. Alexander doesn’t state the importance of that information. He calls for the school to be year round, from 6A.M.-6P.M., and ages 3 months to 18 years. And we as parents are supposed to trust these elected officials who destroy everything they touch to control the lives of our children? Especially when one of their main goals is to remove all parental influence regarding God, Family, and Country.

In 1997, Betsy DeVos wrote an op-ed for the newspaper Roll Call in which she defended “soft money” (campaign contributions to political parties that avoid legal limits on contributions to individual candidates).

DeVos, who was chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party at the time, (one of four terms) wrote that her family was the biggest contributor of soft money to the national Republican Party, and that “occasionally a wayward reporter will try to make the charge that we are giving this money to get something in return, or that we must be purchasing influence in some way.” She wears her money as a badge!

DeVos stated, “I have decided, however, to stop taking offense at the suggestion that we are buying influence. Now I simply concede the point. They are right. We do expect some things in return.” (Just another “swamp dweller”!) DeVos wrote in Roll Call, “We expect to foster a conservative governing philosophy consisting of limited government and respect for traditional American virtues. We expect a return on our investment; we expect a good and honest government. Furthermore, we expect the Republican Party to use the money to promote these policies, and yes, to win elections.”

Does it sound like sound reasoning to have the future of our children in this woman’s hands? With DeVos you have another alarming factor to take into consideration and that is her religious belief ‘s and how she sees their use in education. Again, please do not misunderstand me as I would also like to see our country go back to being under the teaching and umbrella of the Holy Bible rather than the teachings of the Communist Manifesto, but not in a way that the whole country MUST follow what my beliefs would dictate.

DeVos and her family are Calvinists and have the same basic beliefs as the form of religion Ted Cruz and David Barton follow using as one of their foundations Matthew 1:26: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. KJV Calvinists and other Evangelical groups believe this gives them dominion also over all the people and the government. This is one of the main problems with some of the existing Evangelical groups – taking the word of God out of context and giving it a new meaning. I see nowhere in that verse the mention of humans or government.

DeVos in some circles is considered a religious zealot who spoke about using public education to “advance God’s Kingdom.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t want anyone basing our children’s education on the religious beliefs of anyone else. Our beliefs are personal and private and not to be used to control others. Those trying to destroy this country through the Manifesto named the removal of religion and the teaching of the parents as part of their agenda. Hence, I believe the “New World Order” guys and gals know this to be an important part of our children’s lives.

Most Americans know there is no such thing as “separation of church and state”, but others use it to gain special treatment. Using our tax dollars or corporate funding when the funds are not being separated out is wrong especially when the funds are being used currently and primarily to send “low-income” children to religious schools.

Please do not misunderstand me as I have absolutely no problem with any of our children attending religious schools. But if any of our tax dollars are used to pay for that education that is once again “taxation without representation”, the same as it is in regard to charter schools and their unelected school boards.

The DeVos so-called religious plan is to ensure all religious parents get a voucher to send their children to a school of their choice. Is this not discrimination? A new way to form segregation? Parents actually think they are going to escape the claws of the Common Core plan. This is one of the bigger lies being told to parents since any school, public, private or parochial that takes one red cent from the federal government MUST follow the rules and laws that are attached to that funding. If you are not aware, many private and parochial schools played the “Race to the Top” game and took Federal $$.

If you haven’t noticed, most with their hands into the ruination of your children’s futures is being pushed by those of the Republican Party, from the Federal level to the local level. But wait, why aren’t the Democrats screaming bloody murder since they are the ones always calling for the non-existent “separation of church and state”? Because the voucher program is being aimed once again at “low-income” students.

People like Jeb Bush, Chris Whittle, John Kirtley, Lamar Alexander, Chester Finn, Jr., and the two Florida Senators who introduced the Amendment – Sen. Thad Altman,(R) and Rep. Scott Plakon, (R) repeatedly tried to convenience the voters of Florida they only wanted to protect religiously-based social services.

They went so far as to state the Blaine Amendment was prejudice and was against the Catholic Church. Never mind the two men who wrote Amendment 8 were both Catholic and their goal was to have the tax dollar funding go to private and parochial schools.

The important thing here is not that the Amendment was defeated, but to what lengths these people have gone to in order to not only turn our children’s education into a basket of weeds but the force and control over our children that they desire to have. It is to be “their way or the highway” so to speak. You as a parent are to have NO say!

Florida is using vouchers stating the Supreme Court’s ruling does not apply because there will be NO tax dollars used to pay the tuition (vouchers). The voucher program here in Florida is being called the “tax credit scholarship program” and it allows businesses to get credits on their state tax bills if they donate to an organization that gives vouchers to children in low-income families. I don’t know about you, but for me, this is nothing more than a “pay to play” game using our children once again to gain their control.

In Florida in 2015, almost all of the children receiving vouchers were attending religious schools. The families of nearly 100,000 Florida students received vouchers worth about $544 million that year as the Legislature has steadily increased support for the programs. That growth has come despite critics who contend that vouchers divert money from public schools to private institutions that do not have the same student-testing or teacher-accountability rules and can freely mix education with religion.

Stop the presses – Floridians were told the voucher funding was to come from businesses who would get credits on their state tax bills. You see what this game is? The business donates to a charity for a tax credit while donating to the legislators who pass these lenient bills regarding education and it is a “win win” for everyone but the children in the end as they are being used as “human capital”. The plan is to ensure ALL children fall under the umbrella of government/private control and that the taxpayers will continue to pay without having all the facts, the right to disagree with them or even worse, NOT CARING.

This is called the removal of REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT! You no longer count!

DeVos’ Michigan is one of the nation’s biggest school choice laboratories, especially with charter schools. The Detroit, Flint and Grand Rapids school districts have among the nation’s 10 largest shares of students in charters, and the state sends $1 billion in education funding to charters annually. Of those schools, 80 percent are run by for-profit organizations, a far higher share than anywhere else in the nation.

Laboratories or experiments is a good reference for charter schools, especially in Michigan. [LINK] This past October, U.S. Secretary of Education John King (R) paid a visit to Detroit, during which time he offered some advice to Michigan education leaders in an interview: stop shuttering failing schools because the schools we’re replacing them with are no better.  I wonder if he met with DeVos while there.

If Michigan is a center of school choice, it is also among one of the worst places to argue that choice has made schools better. As the state embraced and then expanded charters over the past two decades, its rank has fallen on national reading and math tests. Most charter schools perform below the state average.

And a federal review in 2015 found “an unreasonably high” percentage of charter schools on the list of the state’s lowest-performing schools. The number of charter schools on that list had doubled since 2010, after the passage of a law a group financed by Ms. DeVos pushed to expand the schools. The group blocked a provision in that law that would have prevented failing schools from expanding or replicating.

The Michigan law pushed by Ms. DeVos to establish charter schools over 20 years ago allows an unusually large number of organizations to start such schools, yet established little mechanism for oversight. Even Republican supporters of charter schools say the law has allowed failing charter schools to expand or replicate.

Last spring, the DeVos-backed group was the chief force behind the defeat of legislation that would have established standards for identifying and closing failing schools, both charter and public, in Detroit, where a flood of charter schools in the past decade has created what even charter school supporters call chaos.

If nothing else tells you what a DeVos leadership will do to our already very lenient legislation regarding charters/choice/vouchers, nothing else will. We can hope that Trump was misled in his appointment of DeVos as she is a greater danger to our children and our country than any of the other nominees.

“The Chokehold on Our Children” Part 2

The ‘progressive’ movement has been a slow, evil virus which has floated over this country like a deadly cloud. It is a man, woman and child eating monster for anyone who is a patriot, Christian, conservative or just happens to not agree with them. It demands redistribution of wealth and loan shark style taxation – known and hidden. It wants your speech, guns and children to form another fascist/socialist/whatever you want to call it to control your very existence, just by a new name -New World Order and his brother in crime the One World Religion.

I call it Collectivism versus Individualism!

They have known for many, many years the road to accomplish this was through the education of your children using indoctrination.

Why the push on Charter Schools? Because they are an experiment which to date have proven they can create more scandals than all the traditional public schools in the country put together. They don’t tell you that do they?

Why is the Federal government pouring billions of $$ into Charter school funding and yet what they put in place to “fix” the traditional public schools is more Title I funds for low income which has never worked because at the same time they continue to tell them they will never get to college or make anything of themselves. They play games with the grade scoring, curriculum, go up and then down as a priority and continue to throw our money down the drain on junk ideas – hence no improvement.

The scandals – how do they happen? Go here – it is like reading a mystery novel! Pick your state or city and go for it!

Charter Choice 2How! By putting a financial chokehold on the Charter schools by getting in too deep because of the mega fees charged by the Management companies; creating inflammatory budgets and outlandish salary packages for principals; less than excellent teachers through Teach for America teachers rather than those educated to be teachers; far too lenient legislation leaving the elected boards with no actual control and when they do try to close a failing school, the state charter boards and management companies step in and beg to give a failing school another 2 years; charter school board members serving as board members of several schools within a management  company circle. One or two school board meetings a year; school principals without credentials – not to mention the real dirt!

Let’s take a look at New Orleans where after Katrina, their schools were so bad they decided the cure was to make the whole school district charter. The results have been devastating! Called the state-level Recovery School District it was originally presented as a temporary solution.

The purpose of government controlled school “they” told us was to prepare our children to be good citizens for the country and to be able to gain a college degree if they wished and go into the job market they wanted. They never wanted us to know that it was corporate whores who would be making all the decisions regarding our children’s education.

A clear danger sign of things to come for all parents should have been when the CEO of Exxon-Mobil wrote that threatening letter to the governor of PA to “get in line with the Common Core Standards” or else!

With many citizens displaced after Katrina and more than 7K citizens unemployed, most schools were taken away from local control, with no community input as the feds and venture philanthropists provided money for the development of charter schools with no comparable sum offered to rebuild the traditional public schools.

Now, New Orleans has a system of individual and charter management schools (CMO’s) where taxpayer and Parental Control has flown the coop.

Charter school vulturesWith limited public oversight and transparency, these CMOs have the control of the taxpayers money; teachers working 70+ hours a week; staffed primarily by young, non-local white teachers who have no idea how to equate to the black students in New Orleans. Teach for America (TFA) teachers have tripled with a large share of them in leadership positions with little or no experience. TFA teachers are working mostly in the “no excuses” charter schools including KIPP and Mastery Charter.

What are “no excuses” Charter schools? They claim that more rigorous and uniform teaching methods along with scripted curriculum geared to being successful on high-stakes tests is the path to success. It sounds great until you understand the path being used is a very deliberate behavior regime that they insist all the children follow which begins in kindergarten and consists of submission, obedience and self-control.

Not bad values until you understand this path also includes no opportunity for play, relaxation or extra-curricular activities because that is “wasted” time. And they are being tested, tested, tested!

It has also produced very high rates of suspension in these schools which in some cases is not being documented and is from the statistics, being aimed at the black students.

Don't Be Charter Fooled 2In 2 of the “no excuses” charter schools (KIPP and Mastery) data is no longer being used for “education quality”, but the very purpose of the school itself. With few exceptions, the curriculum is characterized by a narrow interpretation of state standards at the expense of all other material. Students rarely learn local history or current events. Instead, science and social studies were relegated to ancillary classes in the elementary school and reduced to the accumulation of vocabulary and lists of facts at the middle school.

What makes a No-Excuses School a No-Excuses School?

  • High behavioral and academic expectations for all students—these expectations are applied without exception for extenuating circumstance, hence the designation No-Excuses. No-Excuses. This means that no matter how troubling a student’s home-life may be, no matter what difficulties they may have to overcome in their neighborhood or family, a student is still expected to work hard and follow the school’s code of behavior. This attitude arises from an idealistic and, in fact, very radical assumption that lies at the heart of the No-Excuses movement: that every student, no matter what his or her background, is capable of high academic achievement and success in life.
  • A strict behavioral and disciplinary code that leaves little room for ambiguity or inconsistency—rules and punishments are laid out in Talmudic detail, usually in a document that is required—and tested—reading for all students and faculty at the beginning of the year. In many schools, tardiness, even by a couple of minutes, and uniform violation (a missing belt, bright nail-polish, etc.) lead to automatic detentions.

Silence seemed to be especially important in the hallways. At the sound of each bell at the middle school, students were expected to line up at “level zero” with their faces forward and hands behind their backs and, when given permission, step into the hallway and onto strips of black duct tape. There they waited for the command of an administrator: “John, you can move to your next class!

Students then marched until they reach the STOP sign on the floor. Then their pass is checked for hallway permission before moving on to the next class or “restroom” time. Behavior infractions are being administered through their iPhone for everyone to see.

“No excuses” is also being used to foster “social justice” of which they are told it is to help them get into college. Detroit’s story is as interesting and shows education has come to be an element of social justice robots.

Remind you of any the pictures you have seen of Hitler’s education?

Joan Goodman, a professor in the Graduate School of Education University of Pennsylvania (not one of my favorites but she is right here in this quote about the programs) “These schools start with the belief that there’s no reason for the large academic gaps that exist between poor minority students and more privileged children. They argue that if we just used better methods, demanded more, had higher expectations, enforced these higher expectations through very rigorous and uniform teaching methods and a very uniform and scripted curriculum geared to being successful on high-stakes tests, we can minimize or even eradicate these large gaps, high rates of drop outs and the academic failures of these children. To reach these objectives, these schools have developed very elaborate behavioral regimes that they insist all children follow, starting in kindergarten.”

Submission, obedience, and self-control are very large values being taught in the “no excuses” formatted Charter schools. They want kids to submit. You can’t really do this kind of instruction if you don’t have very submissive children who are capable of high levels of inhibition and do whatever they’re told.

“These schools are not geared to what students have to know – that is considered wasted time”. Play, relaxation or extra-curricular activities are not important. The view of time and strict discipline are related, by the way; in order to get these kids to attend over very long hours—they have extended days and extended weeks — you have to be tough with the kids, really severe. They want these kids to understand that when authority speaks you have to follow because that’s basic to learning.”

These schools also believe that behaviors that you might not think are directly related to academic learning can have a domino effect if left unaddressed. Getting up from your chair to go to the bathroom without explicit permission, for example, or not having your hands folded on your desk, or not looking at the teacher every minute, or not having your feet firmly planted on each side of the center of the desk are problematic behaviors. If you don’t conform to these rules then you are going to precipitate the next domino and the next domino. It’s going to have a cascading effect on your behavior and pretty soon you’re going to be very disruptive.

Discipline comes in the form of being isolated from the rest of the class – they have to wear different colored shirts, can’t talk even to ask questions, may sit on a lower bench than the other children. And it’s all about the deliberate shaming of the kids.

Mastery Charter Schools and Mastery Schools of Camden form a non-profit school network in Philadelphia, PA and Camden, NJ serving over 10,500 students in grades K-12.  “Our mission is to ensure that all students learn the academic and personal skills they need to succeed in higher education, compete in the global economy and pursue their dreams. This begins in kindergarten!”  KIPP schools format seems to fall in line with Mastery!

For years now, advocates of the “no excuses” brand of charter school have denied the obvious.  While loudly proclaiming the test scores and graduation rates of the students who remain at their schools are at the top, they have denied that their application processes combined with the harsh discipline environments that emphasize extreme conformity to extreme behavioral expectations are forms of “cream skimming” designed to drive out students less likely to burnish their reputations as “miracle factories.” (Low income students – hence all the offers from the feds to place charters in low income areas).

These schools claim to be targeting the low-income students to help bring them up to a higher standard yet it is these very ‘rules’ that are helping them bring the ‘cream to the top’ without seeming biased or racially defined.  These schools rates for children suspended, expelled or leaving all together far exceed the national averages.

You have heard of the “cream” rising to the top haven’t you? Helps their data figures!

Part of the means of obtaining the “cream” in their schools, they use extreme in-school discipline tactics that emphasize how only a certain type of child is welcome in the school, and discipline is often coupled with overt and covert pressure for parents to transfer struggling students out.  The evidence is by now substantial that charter schools in the “no excuses” category seek different applicants to their schools via complicated procedures prior to admissions lotteries, and once students enter they quickly seek to push out students who will not fully and promptly comply with their expectations.

Charter schools will tell you more than 90% of their students are passing tests and almost 100% get into college. Reformers want you to believe they are a success and they will never tell you there is any dishonesty going on with testing and data. Where is the data to prove these statements?

Education Monsters 2People like Jeb Bush, Huckabee and all the Charter school management companies will tell you they are serving the same students as traditional public schools – they just know how to do it better. They will tell you one of their goals is to beat the standings of Finland but even they have learned testing, especially teaching to a test for better scores, proves nothing. When in a discussion with these reformers and you tell them their students are actually not doing any better, they will revert to comparing different management schools rather than as a whole.

Mastery Learning was first introduced in the 1920’s suggesting this was the way to tap into an individual’s potential for learning. In the early 1960s the idea of mastery learning was revived in the form of programmed instruction. Other names used in reference to this are Competency Based Education, Performance Based Education and Student Centered Learning.

More and more of the current Charter school models are using this failed form of education and at the same time using different names for the same ole thing. Referring to our children as “human capital” and given as proof of the mentality of that is the corporate intrusion into our education systems all over the country.

The real main problem of this education is Mastery Learning supports the ideology that the individual students meet certain standards or learning outcomes, but since our children are NOT common and do learn different things at different paces – hence the ongoing failure of the use of this method of teaching. A more complete description of Mastery Learning can be found here which also includes Block’s reasoning behind Mastery Learning.

The powers to be have been experimenting with this education game since the late 80’s – the thoughts in their minds since the early 1900’s. Each time the experiment was put in place it was a failure and they knew the only way they could get this implemented all over the country was in the way they did it.

Keep in mind that the schools which claim to be teaching social and moral values may not necessarily be what you think are right for your children. In today’s educational system the mindset seems to be a more free thinking system – one that is addressing issues which conflict with conservative morals and values. Parents need to really look inside these schools and not assume that because they are a charter or private school that they are better than the traditional school their child is currently attending.

The words Charter and Private are just words – what is important is what is happening behind the closed doors.

I still have not been able to come to terms with the fact that OUR Commissioners/superintendents of our children’s education (who are supposed to have an education background) would deliberately do this to our children. It still comes down to money, power and control which also makes it extremely evil. Anyone involved in this scheme doesn’t deserve our respect and need to be sent home – charged with treason would be too good for them!

LOCAL SCHOOL BOARDS ARE BEING REPLACED, STRIPPED OF POWER Part 2

by Ann Herzer  May, 2013

Public schools are being closed in communities where they are most needed. In Arizona, the teachers in Charter Schools do not have to be certified. Federal, and State laws and regulations have been waived to serve the new “choice” schools, but these are subjects not being addressed by the vested interest.) Back to the list.

The Center on Education Reform is listed as a resource on the list. The contact person is Jeanne Allen, formerly with the Heritage Foundation. (Ed. Note: Jeanne Allen still heads this group and is now showing up at meetings sponsored by The Excellence Foundation, headed by former Governor of Florida, Jed Bush (brother to George W Bush, Jr.). They are now promoting “The Common Core Standards” and the performance-based test, aligned to the standards. The almost same identical legislation is appearing state by state and is in all probability written by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) or The Council for Foreign Relations (CFR) who have now joined with the right political organizations trying to convince citizens that our country is in danger of collapse due to children not being trained for the global workforce). The conference at Arizona State University lists the following:

The Board of Directors for The Center on Education Reform, listed as: William J Hume; G. Carl Ball; William J Bennett; John Chubb (Brooking Institute pushing Choice); Denis P. Doyle (on Design Team with Bennett); Pete du Pont (Hudson Institute); Chester E. Finn, Jr. (on the Modern Red Schoolhouse Design Team and the Edison Project and others). The Arizona Republic, our local newspaper noted:

On Wednesday, July 20, 1994, the Republican Candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction for Arizona, Lisa Graham, attended a fund raising event for her in Washington, D. C. at the home of Grover G. Norquist. She is being touted as the author of the “landmark Arizona Charter School Choice Plan” and Charter School Legislation. The following persons along with others are listed on the invitation:

Jeanne Allen; Congressman Dick Armey; Governor Pete du Pont; Jeff Flake (with the Goldwater Institute in Arizona, (now U. S. Senator from Arizona) working with the Morrison Institute to implement the plan). Sidney Hoff-Hay (with the Lincoln Caucus); Senator John McCain; Michael Sanera (Arizona Institute for Public Policy Research who hosted the Edison Project last year in Arizona—this institute and the Goldwater Institute are listed as Heritage Institute think-tanks. The Heritage Institute is established in 34 states, and Governor J. Fife Symington III. (Ed note: Lisa-Graham- now Keegan is closely associated with Charter Schools in Arizona and runs a company to train applicants. All living former State Superintendents of Public Instruction in Arizona are listed as now associated with charter schools. Their names may be checked on the web).

Several members involved in restructuring education are members of the elite and secret Council for National Policy. This council does not make its membership list available to the public. It was formed (so they say) to counter the left Council on Foreign Relations, but some of the members belong to the CFR. This CNP’s membership includes the leadership of almost all conservative and Christian leadership groups. What is the motive?

Could it be money? In an article written by David R. Sands, The Washington Times, April 12, 1988, titled “Powerful players get global bank off the ground.” Sands states:

“Organizers will soon be announcing the final details for the long-delayed ambitious international finance bank with headquarters in the District of Columbia….Credit International, which will offer exclusive upscale private banking services and U. S. real estate financing for foreign investors in addition to its trade financing operations, …Credit International and its holding company, Credit International Banc Shares Ltd., feature a high-powered group of organizing directors, headed by bank Chairman, Richard V. Allen, former national security advisor for President Reagan….Other board members include Dr. Edwin Feulner, president and chief executive of the Heritage Foundation….”

The Heritage Foundation has been promoting along with Willard W. Garvey (The Center for Privatization in Wichita, Kansas) privatizing government holdings. In a letter to President Ronald Reagan, April 6, 1984, Garvey states:

“Privatization is now ‘an idea whose time has come’. The knowledge, communication, and computer industry can make political representatives obsolete”. (Emphasis added).

Has it? The Heritage Foundation created the “Town-Hall-The Conservative Meeting Place” which has “Instant 24 Hour Communication and Interaction for Conservative Groups”, and it works with such groups as: “The Free Congress Foundation’s National Empowerment Television project; The Leadership Institute; Citizens Against Government Waste; Family Research Council; The State Policy Network of state-based think tanks; Intercollegiate Studies Institute and more”. (Heritage Publications 1993/1994, p. 12).

Former Secretary of Education named a study group to evaluate national student assessments. Some of those named include: Lamar Alexander; Hillary Rodham Clinton; Linda Darling-Hammond; John C. Este, Jr. (president, National Association of Independent Schools) which was involved with forming Ted Sizer’s Coalition of Essential Schools – Sizer’s group was named Project: Relearning and has been approved by the Governors and The Education Commission of the States for restructuring. His Atlas Communities is also one of NASDC’s Design Teams; Bill Honig (former state superintendent of public instruction, Calf.) (Education Daily, May 15, 1986, p. 2).

William Bennett also funded Mastery Learning projects while he was Secretary of USDOE. (Transforming American Education: Reducing the Risk To The Nation, A Report to the Secretary of Education United States Dept. of Education, The National Task Force on Educational Technology, April, 1986). (See my article “Our Children: The Drones” for further information on Mastery Learning; posted on NewsWithViews).

In the same Education Daily edition listed above, it states:

“Bennett includes ‘Character’ projects in diffusion network priorities.” (Ed. Note: Mastery Learning is based on behavioral psychology and both ML and Character educations programs raised an outrage from parents and many teachers, so the name was changed to Outcome Based Education to try and fool the public).

The National Diffusion Network was established to promote government programs into the schools across America. The decline of public education can be traced directly to these programs. At no time, has any organization or group promoting Goals 2000 ever discussed the destructive behavior modification and inferior programs that have been used on teachers and students for more than three decades. I accuse the federal government, left and right wing foundations, and groups of deliberately trying to destroy public education in the United States. (Were these destructive programs deliberately created to help destroy public education so the profit motive” privateers” could take over and implement the global economy?)

I accuse these same groups and persons of developing mind-bending destructive Sex Education, Character Education, Self-esteem, and Skinnerian Behavior Modification programs to destroy the culture and youth of our county. Why has this been done? So they may control and develop the “human resources” (the workers and the clones) to carry out their deceptive plan of total control not only of human resources but all resources in the world.

These movers and shapers are outside the mainstream of American culture and political thought in this country, and most others where this one-world system is being implemented. Are some of the persons involved innocent victims of NTL change agents? Are some political and power hungry opportunists? Are some money hungry parasites that live off federal and foundation grants? Whatever the reason, this plan must be stopped immediately by the people. (The Common Core Standards is the final nail in the coffin. Obama’s Race To The Top was started decades ago).

Every person has been given free-will to choose right from wrong. We are at the point in history where we must choose, and we must take a stand against this totalitarian plan which will lead not only the United States of America but other citizens of the world into slavery. (Ed. Note: The behavioral psychologist does not believe in free-will. They look upon mankind as a machine to be shaped and molded into whatever they desire. Children are now called “human capitol” and “human resources” to be trained in our schools for the planned global economy using behavioral psychology).

Citizens must know the enemy, and the enemy is coming from both the right and left political and economic groups. The radical right and the radical left have met in mid-center. (Ed. Note: The following names are from my old article and list, but some remain and some have changed – the objectives remain the same).

Chester Finn, Jr., obtained a federal grant to establish the Educational Excellence Network. In a recent publication by the Hudson Institute, it lists the membership in “A report by the Educational Excellence Network and its Education Policy Committee.” The Education Policy Committee members are:

“Chester Finn, Jr., Diane Ravitch, Co-Chairs; Joseph Adelson, Professor of Psychology, University of Michigan; Lamar Alexander, Former U. S. Secretary of Education, Senior Fellow, Hudson Institute; Jeanne Allen, President, Center for Education Reform, Leslye Arsht, President, Goals 2000 Coalition; Stephen H. Balch, President and Executive Director, National Association of Scholars. (Ed. Note: Diane Ravitch has since pulled out of the group and is working against the group on her blog and in her book, The Death and Life of the Great AMERICAN School System, c 2010. Many concerned educators and citizens are now found on the computer working in opposition to this plan). Back to the list.

Jim Benchivenga, President, Hull Council for Business and Cultural Development; William J Bennett, Former U. S. Secretary of Education; Co-Director of Empower America; Clint Bolick, Vice President and Director of Litigation, Institute of Justice; Samuel Brunelli, Executive Director, American Legislative Exchange Council; Linda Chavez, John M. Olin Fellow, Center for the New American Community, Manhattan Institute; Saul Copperman, President, Ready Foundation (formerly with the Business Round-Table-ed).

Ramon Cortines, Chancellor, New York City Public Schools; Edwin Delattre, Dean of the School of Education, Boston, University; John Fund, Editorial Page Writer, The Wall Street Journal; Nathan Glazer, Professor Education and Sociology Emeritus, Harvard University; Stephen Goldsmith, Mayor, Indianapolis, Indiana; Joan Grady, Senior Program Director, Mid-Continent Regional Educational Laboratory (Federal Lab. – ed). Bill Honig, Professor, School of Education, San Francisco State University ; Wade F. Horn, Director Chairman of the Board, Basic America, Inc.; David Kearns, Chairman, New American Schools Development Corporation (See Education for All above).

Patrick J. Delcher, Jr. President, TEACH America; Leo Klagholz, Commissioner, New Jersey State Department of Education; Bryon S. Lamm, Executive Director, State Policy Network; Rick C. Lavis, former Co-Chairman, Arizona Business Leaders for Education (ABLE see above). Ron Melnick, Director, Morrison Institute for Public Policy, Arizona, (Morrison Institute on NASDC’s Design Team); William Moloney, Supt., Calvery Co., Public Schools, Maryland; John Murphy, Supt., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, North Carolina.

Grover Norquist, President, America for Tax Reform (see fund raising event for Lisa Graham, Arizona, above.) ;Joseph Murphy, Dept. and Chair of Education, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN; Paul H. O’Neill, Chairman and CEO, Aluminum Co. of America; Lawrence C. Patrick, Jr., Member of the Detroit Board of Education: Partner, Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer and Weisll; Mitchell B. Pearlstein, President, Center of the American Experiment; Elizabeth Rohatyn, Vice President, Felix and Elizabeth Rohatyn Foundation; Ted Sanders, Supt. Of Public Instruction, state of Ohio; Bret Schundler, Mayor, Jersey City, NJ; Donald M Stewart, President, The College Board; Abigail Thernstrom, Adjunct Professor, School of Education, Boston, University; Herbert J. Walberg, Research Professor of Education, University at Chicago; Robert L.Woodson, President, National Center for Neighborhood Enterprise.

Three persons did not concur with the substance of this report: Leslye Arsht, Donald M. Stewart and Bill Honig. (Emphasis added – ed).

In the Teachers’ Guide, Feb., 1993 for Whittle Educational Network News and Programming, i. e. Channel I (Connected with Edison Project) – listed for Friday, Feb. 26 “The Educators’ Channel” titled And Learning For All: National Town Meeting of Education, (Program source: Pacific Mountain Network, with underwriting provided by the U. S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Research and Improvement, and by United Airlines, p. 15).

In their Teachers’ Guide, Dec. 1992, p. 7, they list as “Partners in the “….And Learning for All” project include Pacific Mountain Regional Educational Laboratory, Western Cooperative for Educational Telecommunications, PBS station KRMA-TV, Mind Extension University, Colorado 2000 Communities, and the National School Public Relations Association.”

While good parents and American citizens are stripped of their salaries with high government taxation, and plead with their representatives and school officials not to implement Outcome Based Education (which is the systematic control system being used to change everything in our country), the federal government promotes its destructive plan through private groups like Whittle and others. The American people are being asked to pay for their own destruction and it is coming from the now radical center of both major political parties.  Part 1

During her teaching career, Ann taught all grade levels, (K-College in reading) as well as all ability level students including gifted, and non-English speaking. In 1982, she was the Republican candidate for State Superintendent of Public Instruction for Arizona; ran again in 1986, the primary purpose was to expose the experimental programs being used on teachers and children, especially ECRI (Exemplary Center for Reading Instruction) and others. She pushed for a Congressional investigation on ECRI and other programs, but it never happened. People contacted her regarding ECRI and the harmful effects on children who were having difficult problems due to the stress from ECRI. All of this went to Congress and the DOE. The DOE lied about the method and denied that children were timed with stopwatches even after Ann sent them documented pod materials from their manuals. A large effort has been made to cover up ECRI and other similar programs destroying our children.

Ann’s education research articles have been published in the Wisconsin Report, Charlotte Iserbyt’s books; The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, and Back to Basics Reform, the Barbara Morris Report, and countless newspapers and magazines. She also contributed data to Rev. James Patrick’s “Research Manual, America 2000/Goals 2000 – Moving the Nation Educationally to a ‘New World Order’.”

At the request of concerned parents, Ann spoke in several states against America and Goals 2000 and helped organize the Southwestern USA to work against the Soviet/Carnegie/American agreement… through the “National Citizen’s Alliance.” She is a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution with eight proven Revolutionary Patriots, one of whom served at Valley Forge with Gen. Geo. Washington. Ann continues to do research exposing the destruction of our once excellent academic education.

Oh Happy Day! ESEA!

Lawmakers in the House passed a bill today that would repeal President Obama’s health care law. But don’t be fooled: the legislation faces certain death.  A symbolic move to follow through on a promise made by Republican candidates on the campaign trail last year, the GOP-led House approved the legislation that repeals Obamacare and directs House committees to submit “an alternative, patient-centered solution.” The body voted 239 to 186.

The Senate is expected to take up repeal legislation at some point too, but Democrats there have enough votes stop it. Even if it made it onto the president’s desk, Obama has said he would veto it and the Senate doesn’t have enough votes to override.

And this is a great thing they have done – just ask them. However, they are still tripping all over themselves. First Obama says he wants $1 billion to indoctrinate our Pre-K children and congress says sure – whatever you want Master. Are these politicians so stupid as to not think all of this is also going to affect all their children, grandchildren and even themselves the same as the rest of America.

Now we have the NCLB Re-Authorization bill titled “Every Child Ready for College or a Career Act of 2015” which Cements Common Core into Nationalized Education!

The U.S. Senate is fast-tracking new legislation titled the “Every Child Ready for College or a Career Act of 2015”, which will re-authorize No Child Left Behind (NCLB). The author of the bill, Sen. Lamar Alexander, claims it’s an effort to restore the power of local and state education agencies but, in reality, it does the opposite. In fact, his bill places more conditions on the way states develop their standards, assessments, and accountability systems than required under NCLB, and will cement the Common Core State Standards into federal law and Nationalize our education system.

Support for the re-authorization of NCLB is at an all-time high, as states have argued that the federal NCLB waivers and Race to the Top grants  issued by the Obama Administration are too prescriptive and go beyond the authority granted to the U. S. Secretary of Education under the program. The problem with Sen. Alexander’s bill is that it doesn’t undo these requirements, it simply includes them into a new law making what was once only a requirement for states seeking a waiver into a  federal mandate.

Remember, it was Sen. Alexander who first talked about our children’s education from cradle to college, 24 hours a day, 5 days a week in the 80’s.

For example, NCLB legislation (2002), required states to adopt standards that: ‘‘(I) specify what children are expected to know and be able to do; (II) contain coherent and rigorous content; and (III) encourage the teaching of advanced skills.” This allowed states broad discretion to establish standards that best fit the needs of students in their state.

In 2010, the US Secretary of Education limited this discretion when it issued NCLB waivers and Race to the Top (RTTT) grants.  To qualify for these programs, states were required to adopt standards that were “college and career ready” which, in theory, sounds reasonable. In practice, however, the specific criteria used by the US Department of Education to determine if standards were “college and career ready” was anything but reasonable and denied states their constitutional right to independently determine their own standards.

Keep in mind, only a small number of states received any RTTT funds and even less received waivers. The states that received RTTT funds, not all districts received money.

The US Department of Education has defined “college and career ready” as standards which: “align to the entrance requirements, without the need for academic remediation, for an institution of higher education in the State.”

Assurances by the heads of state public universities were made in the application for the NCLB waiver and Race to the Top grants to use the Common Core aligned tests as the “entrance requirements, without the need for academic remediation, for an institution of higher education in the state.”  Over the past four years, public universities have been aligning their entrance requirements to the Common Core and for many universities it is already accomplished. The “entrance requirements” are the Common Core.

If Sen. Alexander intended his bill to do something different, why did he include the same language?

The inclusion of this definition in the re-authorization bill no longer requires the U.S. Department of Education to issue waivers to coerce states into adopting CCSS. The “Every Student College and Career Ready Act” conveniently puts it into law. Senator Alexander’s reauthorization bill is nothing more than the NCLB waiver requirements rebranded. If his bill passes, there will be no escaping Common Core if states want to participate in federal education programs which offer $15 billion in funding to states.

Also there is a large push for our tax dollars to vouchers and charter schools which is taking the parental oversight away from the parents by the eventual elimination of elected school boards.

The Republican Party stated they did NOT support the Common Core Standards and we now know that was another lie to get our votes in 2014. Their words are meaningless and lies. This is the same tactics that were used with Obamacare.

This is just like Huckabee telling the country in front of his cameras he changed his mind and no longer supported Common Core and then turns right around and has lunch with the CCSSO and tells them to just re-brand the name because we are so stupid we will never know it is the same thing.

I am asking you to share this e-mail with all your contacts and to call your Senators and Representatives and them NO – you do not support the “Every Child College and Career Ready” draft legislation any more than you do Common Core. Mama and Papa Bear are coming to call! REMEMBER:  This is not an R or D thing! This is about right and wrong! America or Socialism!  Call all of them – not just yours – let the phone lines go crazy and make them think about what they are doing to this country and our children.

Please read these 2 reports – they explain exactly what is happening and how long the plans have been in place.  1991 SCANS Report and this one really begin your reading on the bottom of page 8  http://www.ncee.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/Executive-Summary.pdf

When all is done and said with this bill we will know who they are representing:  the people and their states or their wallets.

And by the way, Obama has already agreed to the bill as long as the assessments and testing are left in it. So what games are we really playing here?

Please contact your contacts and ask them to spread this around and to contact their Senators and Representatives and tell them their wishes. More and more teachers are against all these changes in our education system and it isn’t just because of being graded themselves by the assessments of their student’s achievement.

CHARTER SCHOOL GRAVY TRAIN and TOTAL RUINATION OF AMERICAN EDUCATION Part 1

Those of you who read my postings know I am trying to educate you on the dangers of Charter/Choice/Vouchers. Outside of it being the road to a Federal takeover of education, it is a proverbial “money tree” and they are using your children as “human collateral.” In this posting I have used Florida Charter School Management companies because it is where I live. My suggestion is that you check what is happening with the Charter schools in your state.

Actually some of these charter school management companies do operate in multiple states.

One warm Thursday in July, dozens upon dozens of bankers, hedge fund types and private equity investors gathered in New York to hear about the latest and greatest opportunities to collect a cut of your property taxes. Of course, the promotional material for the Capital Roundtable’s conference on “private equity investing in for-profit education companies” didn’t put it in such crass terms, but that’s what was going on.

Charter schools are booming with the push of the federal and state governments. “There are now more than 6,400 in the United States, up from 2,500 a decade ago, educating a record 2.5 million children,” according to Reuters.

Charter PrivaiCharters have a limited admissions policy, and the applications can be as complex as those at private schools. But parents don’t pay tuition and support comes directly from the school district in which the charter is located. This is the same $$ allotted to each child attending a regular public school only at a lessor percentage. They are also lucrative, attracting players like the specialty real estate investment trust EPR Properties(EPR). Charter schools are in the firm’s $3 billion portfolio along with retail space and movie megaplexes.

Charter schools are frequently a way for politicians to reward their cronies. In Ohio, two firms operate 9% of the state’s charter schools and are collecting 38% of the state’s charter school funding increase this year. The operators of both firms donate generously to elect Republicans.

The Arizona Republic found that charters “bought a variety of goods and services from the companies of board members or administrators, including textbooks, air conditioning repairs and transportation services.” Most charters were exempt from a requirement to seek competitive bids on contracts over $5,000.

In Florida, the for-profit school industry flooded legislative candidates with $1.8 million in donations last year. “Most of the money,” reports The Miami Herald, “went to Republicans, whose support of charter schools, vouchers, online education and private colleges has put public education dollars in private-sector pockets.”

Florida also created a major piece of legislation protecting public-private partnerships involved in education and other financial ventures. They also have legislators who vote on charter school legislation while owning or receiving financial gains from charter schools. Legislators in Florida are allowed to sit on Jeb Bush’s foundation (FEE) which includes the state’s commissioner of education. The money flows heavy in Florida.

Don’t misunderstand me – there are other state legislators, state superintendents and commissioners of education from several states along with Arne Duncan, David Coleman, Condoleezza Rice, and Richard N. Haass (Pres. CFR) who are “reformers” on the Jeb Bush Foundation, not just Florida. No matter where they are from you cannot “serve more than one master without hating one and loving the other or holding to one and despising the other”.

Among the big donors: the private equity firm Apollo Group, the outfit behind the for-profit University of Phoenix, which has experimented with online high schools. Apollo dropped $95,000 on Florida candidates and committees.

Lest you get the idea charter schools are a “Republican” thing, they are also favored by big-city Democrats. When 23 public schools closed for good in Philadelphia — about 10% of the total — they were replaced by charters. Charters have a history in Washington, D.C., going back to 1996 and they also have a strong home in Chicago.

They were favored by Arne Duncan when he ran the Chicago Public Schools. In 2009, Duncan rolled out the Obama administration’s “Race to the Top” initiative, doling out $4.4 billion in federal money to the states — but only to those states that lifted their caps on the number of charter schools and agreed to play the Common Core Standards game.

After Katrina, New Orleans went totally off the grid opting to make all their schools Charter schools. Is anyone really looking at these schools as to what curriculum they are using? Who is minding the store? New Orleans is riddled with scandals yet they claim their hands are clean.

A recent case study by the Harvard Business School examined the charter school reform efforts in New Orleans. The district is now composed of 70 Recovery School District (RSD) schools managed by the state (including 37 RSD charter schools) and 16 schools managed by the local Orleans Parish School Board (OPSB) (including 12 OPSB charter schools). RSD Schools are a result of Act 9 of the Louisiana State Legislature passed in 2003 to manage under-performing schools throughout the state.

Why are they going CHARTER when they too must be aligned to the Common Core Standards? Is it because they have lenient legislation guiding them or maybe it’s as simple as they have fallen for the lies regarding Charter schools because the powers to be certainly do not make public the information on Charter school closures when regular public schools (RPS) are not being closed.

Sadly, they have been accused of manipulating the data and that they are using a different, lower standard of measuring their achievements to make more schools look better. It seems to be making an impact on the quality of education in New Orleans but then there is nothing to compare them to. This reminds me of “suffer the little children.”

Other states have also lowered their standard of measuring their achievements since their “CCS” is not working.

In 2012, the Federal government showed how they support the Charter school system announcing the FY2012 grant competition for the Replication and Expansion of High Quality Charter Schools. I don’t know about your state, but Florida gives really big chunks of grant monies to starting Charter schools – and if they fail – your tax dollars just got flushed down the toilet.

Under the FY2012 appropriations law, Pub. L. No. 112-74, Division F, Title III, the Secretary is authorized to reserve up to $55 million for the replication and expansion of successful charter models.

A quick perusal of the Notice raises at least two questions: (1) If pre-existing successful models are to be replicated, why has the Department included six competitive preference priorities that may necessitate applicants changing their models to be in the running for a grant? (2) Given the grants are to replicate successful models, why give novice applicants extra points? Why not put everyone on equal footing in the competition?

In 2011, Congress voted overwhelmingly (365-54) to approve H.R. 2218, the Empowering Parents Through Quality Charter Schools Act. The bill is the first of a handful of Ed and Workforce Committee measures that reauthorize parts of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Among other things, the legislation makes a number of improvements to the federal charter program to facilitate the replication of greater numbers of high quality charter schools. The legislation revamps the current charter schools’ discretionary grant program, among other things, to give priority to states that do not cap the numbers of charter schools.

Always remember the purpose of the support by politicians who want nationalized education is the fact Charter schools have “UNELECTED SCHOOL BOARDS and “LENIENT LEGISLATION” which is ‘TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.” To better understand what is truly happening, each parent should read their state’s statutes regarding all parts of Charter school implementation, financial support, oversight and certification of the schools and teachers.

Again I remind you, if you are thinking of moving your child from a RPS to a public Charter school, they are both using Common Core curriculums and following the Common Core State Standards where you live.

Ask yourself, “why the lenient legislation for Charter schools”?

The for-profit Charter School management companies are providing everything from back office operations including payroll, contracting with vendors for food services, textbook, etc., to hiring principals and teachers and curriculum control at an enormous cost. So what has been sold to parents and children as local public education innovation are actually national charter-chains, the “Waltmartization” of public education. The Charter schools pay huge management fees to these for-profit businesses.

Over three-quarters of all charter school students are enrolled in a “charter chain school” in the United States. The top four charter operators in Florida for 2013-2014 were:

AcademicaAcademica (100) – This management company is owned by Fernando Zulueta. To put the frosting on the “cupcake”, Erik Fresen, FL. legislator is also the brother-in-law of Zulueta. He also serves on the board of the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools along with Jeb Bush, Jr. Fresen not only has financial connections to the charter operator through his architectural firm, but also chairs the FL House Education Appropriations Subcommittee. Previously, Fresen worked as a lobbyist for Academica in the state. Fresen isn’t the only Florida legislator with ties to the company.

State Senator Anitere Flores is the CEO of Doral College, a private college affiliated with a charter school run by Academica. Before running again in 2012, she had stated if she was offered this position she would not run – she did anyway.

The company’s owners carry additional favor through campaign donations. In a 2011 investigation, the Miami Herald noted: State election records show Academica’s owners, Fernando and Ignacio Zulueta, have steered $150,000 in campaign donations to Tallahassee lawmakers and political committees through real-estate companies they have controlled since 2007. The records also show the Zulueta family has donated an additional $75,000 in the past five years, and Academica executives and school contractors donated another $54,000. During that time, the Legislature relaxed rules and passed lenient legislation, some of which was presented and pushed by Fresen. Fresen has also had ethics charges filed against him for his actions in the legislature, but they have always been dismissed.

How can a legislator support and vote on Charter school legislation, make financial gains from a Charter school and sit on the pro-Charter Foundation (FEE) of Jeb Bush’s and be impartial and have the children’s futures at the fore front of their decision making?

Jonnnathan HageCharter Schools USA (CSUSA) – They had the honor last year of having their CEO Jonathan Hage named Florida’s “Man of the Year”. I guess Florida had no one else who could fill those shoes. Before forming this for-profit charter school management company, Hage was the research director for Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Florida’s Future and also served on Governor Rick Scott’s education transition team. Tina Bennett, wife of former Florida Education Commissioner Tony Bennett, also works for the company.

Emails obtained through a public records request revealed that Charter Schools USA is one of the many sponsors of the Chiefs for Change, a project of Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education (FEE) and Hage is also considered one of Bush’s “Reformers.”

For a test, I looked up one of their Charter Schools in Orange Cnty, FL which is a K-8 school. Checking their 2014 budget and taking what they state would be spent for Professional and Vendor services averaged out to give $1,283.93 less per student. They receive $6077.00 for each of the 924 students. They budgeted to spend $42,400 for advertising; $353,512.00 for CSUSA Management fees; $15K for Accounting Services; $161,445.00 Custodial Services; $255,232.00 Contracted Food Service to name a few. This school received an F last year and is still open. Why is that? I could find no where on their website the name of the Principal or how many teachers they have.

Just what do you get for the $353,512 management fees?

Charter School Associates – They currently have 17 schools in Florida and it is owned and operated by Mike and Estelle Strader. As Executive Director of the Center for Education Entrepreneurs, Mike organized Florida’s first state-wide workshop to assist first year operators (Survival Training for Charter Operators) and developed the first “How-To” guide for Florida charter developers (The Florida Charter School Planning Guide). He has presented at national and state conferences including the National Association of Educators in Private Practice, The National Charter School Conference and the Florida Charter School Conference.

They boast the use of a Math curriculum called Mathletics and it is Common Core aligned.

Jason Bryant ImagineImagine Schools – A for-profit Charter School Management Co., Imagine also owns a for-profit real estate development company (Schoolhouse Finance) and a non-profit management company (Imagine Schools Non-Profit). In some places, Imagine run schools dedicate nearly half their operating expenses to rent. The high rent rates not only divert resources from the classroom, the costs pushing some Imagine schools into debt, and sometimes that debt is owed to Imagine’s for-profit arm. (Further criticism)

Jason Bryant, their CEO and President prior to joining Imagine in 2005, worked at AES Corporation. His tenure at AES included operations oversight of multiple power plants in California, leading development efforts in Kazakhstan, and overseeing operations in Brazil and Spain as commercial and financial director. Sounds like a great background for overseeing the education of children. Not!

More!

These are not the small, locally run experimental schools envisioned by the original legislation as told to voters.

The threat of vouchers, wavering support for public education, and bipartisan support for charters has led some unions to start charters themselves. Several AFT chapters, such as those in Houston and Dallas, have themselves started charters. The National Education Association has allocated $1.5 million to help members start charter schools. Proponents claim that charters offer teachers a measure of empowerment, employee ownership, and governance that might be enhanced by union assistance.

The White House on both sides of the political realm has had their fingers in this also. You must ask yourself why are they making our schools i.e., our children’s education, part of the political and business world?

Charter school implementation was one of the main objectives of former President George H. W. Bush. Since that time it seems to have been a “family” affair.

Former President Bill Clinton saw charter schools, with their emphasis on autonomy and accountability, as a workable political compromise and an alternative to vouchers

Others, such as former President George W. Bush, saw charter schools as a way to improve schools without antagonizing the teachers’ union. Bush made charter schools a major part of his No Child Left Behind Act. Despite endorsements, a recent report by the AFT has shown charter schools not faring as well as public schools on state administered standardized testing.

With Jeb Bush deeply in bed with Bill Gates and on a full-time move for Charter schools and Vouchers/Tax Credits for Private and Parochial schools one must wonder what their alternative motives are? Get rich? Power? Control? It certainly is not because they care about our children and their receiving a good education.

Jeb Bush’s web of deceit and deception involves not just the money men, but legislators, state superintendents/commissioners of education, corporate giants and Democrats such as Obama, Arne Duncan, David Coleman and the President of the CFR Haas.

Isn’t it strange how close those on both sides of the fence relate to each other and the same agenda’s? Bill Clinton who looks on G.H.W. Bush as a father figure!

Quick note: Jeb Bush has removed his tab on his web site that formerly named all the Reformers who were both R’s and D’s sitting on his Foundation – backers of the Bush education agenda and most involved in some way with education. Hum! Maybe he thinks we don’t remember who they were.

More than one opponent to Charter schools have examined the competing claims of success and suggest that most students in charter schools perform the same or worse than their traditional public school counterparts on standardized tests.

Data-Mining Systems Are Here to Stay – Pre-K to College and Beyond!

snatching 2Some of you may already be aware of these words spoken by Sen. Lamar Alexander (TN) at the 1989 Governor’s Conference in Kansas. Unless you really listen to the words, you will miss their true meaning. Given the tone of “the powers to be today” in wanting to indoctrinate our children and to eventually make their education be totally under federal control, I think you will find this interesting:

“I want to suggest that you create, in Kansas, a New American School – Brand New American School. I want to suggest that when you do that, you help that new school develop some new goals and new report cards for itself.

I would go down to the maternity ward of the local hospital, or whatever you call the part of the hospital where the nurses are who are there when the babies are born. Find out how many babies are born out of wedlock, how many babies are born with single parents. Just so you know that! I would think the Brand New American School would be year-round, open from 6:00 to 6:00.

A second characteristic might be that these schools will serve children from age 3 months old to age 18. That may be a shocking thought to you; but, if you were to do an inventory of every baby in your community and think about what the needs of those babies were for the next four or five years, you might see that those needs might not be served any other way.

They have to be served in some way and maybe around the school. Or, if you study a little more, you might go back and think the school might have to serve the pregnant mother of the baby in terms of prenatal healthcare….

…teams of teachers. Albert Shanker suggested that maybe there ought to be a team of teachers attached to a child from the day that child arrives in the school to stay with that child all the way to the 8th grade.

All this would mean there would have to be a very professional corps of teachers, wouldn’t it? They’d have to be very, very good because they would have to be dealing with lots of volunteers. We have a big national service feeling in America today. Why aren’t those people working in schools? Well, one reason is it’s hard to handle volunteers!

Please don’t be deceived! Alexander didn’t say these things because he cares about your children or their education. However what he does believe in is CONTROL of them! And the best start is with the babies without 2 parents and then move on to the rest.

You are aware aren’t you that Florida has her first 24/7 Charter school? It’s something like a private school except tax dollars are paying another Charter School Management “cash cow”.

And since the Federal government has been pushing so hard for not only Charter schools but your babies in daycare from infancy until they enter kindergarten, they knew they would also be able to “SPY” on them through the data-mining process.

Well, it is here – all over the country and they are spying on each and every one of those classrooms – not to see if your child is being mistreated, but to see what they can learn about their homes, parents and family life in general to “re-direct” their thought processes.

Data Mining 2Go here to watch the video of Communist Shirley McCune at the same conference in 1989 explain her ideas about our children and their education. Scary!

Just why do you think the government so willingly gave all that money to pay for free Pre-K daycare?

Recently, the National Science Foundation awarded a $4.8 million grant to several prominent research universities to advance the use of Big Data in the schools. Those funds by the way came from their annual budget of $7B of your hard earned tax dollars.

“The project, dubbed “LearnSphere,” highlights the continued optimism that “big” educational data might be used to dramatically transform K-12 schooling. “It also raises new questions in the highly charged debate over student-data privacy.

Some of us weren’t born yesterday so the fact this federally funded initiative will be led by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, who propose to construct a new data-sharing infrastructure that is distributed across multiple institutions, include third-party and for-profit vendors, comes as no surprise.

What it should do is anger the heck out of you knowing they are using your money to work at spying on you. Also remember Carnegie has been in bed with pushing education control by the government since before 1934.

“They” want you to believe that facilitating the sharing and analysis of this information is for research purposes and can lead to new insights about how humans learn, as well as rapid improvements to the digital learning software now flooding schools.”

Oh, and just so you are aware, the Gates-funded “galvanic skin response monitors” are back! Two years ago, it seemed to be a joke but it’s no joke. Researchers are still trying to gauge biometric reactions with sensors placed on students’ skin.

It’s October – the time of year for witches and goblins and we do have a new monster!

The new MONSTER in the school is Teaching Strategies, LLC., or “TS Gold” and in Florida it has become “Teaching Strategies in Florida”, Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education Program Approved Kit.

Kind of looks like this is Florida’s replacement for iBloom!

Michelle Malkin has just let her followers know this is not something that is coming in the future; she is talking about a system that is set up right now.  Other such systems are now operating throughout the country.

TS Gold is busily collecting the most personal information possible from day-care centers/pre-schools/kindergartens and putting it into a data system (which is always vulnerable to being hacked).  Then it is being transmitted to third-party profit-mongers “who are after your child.”

People all over this country are beginning to catch on; many are fighting hard against Common Core. This is an issue that impacts families personally and has the power to destroy children and their future.  We as adults have the responsibility to protect our nation’s children because they are our leaders of the future.

Most states are not in full operation yet, but they are expected to be by the 2015-2016 year.  The full force plan is to cover your children from “birth” through “3rd” grade on this particular system.

What seems to never get quite explained to parents is “What are you intending on doing with all that information on my child and just what is your purpose for doing it?”

The creator’s state it is to be used as an “early assessment” tool in measuring the whole child to include “social, emotional, developmental, physical and cognitive”. Does this mean they are going to decide before they go into kindergarten if they will go to the working fields or college?

This program is totally aligned to the Common Core Standards (CCS) so that means “INDOCTRINATION” from the day they put their hands on our children. Oh, and you might like to know the “Race To The Top” $$ the government gave the grants out for to the states who played the game and according to the “feds” had nothing to do with CCS, is what some states are using to pay for this fiscal monster.

However, TS Gold also received $30M from the RTTT barrel – so we all paid up front!

To read the 2011-2014 Florida “Teaching Strategies GOLD Objectives for Development & Learning” Birth Through Kindergarten go HERE!

Data Mining 3 I am sorry I can’t give you the information for all states, but it is out there for you to find. “They” have been very quiet about this! I would hope you have had your anger raised to the point you will check out your state. Do you remember most of us were told there would be no “data mining” because iBloom was gone after spending the $100M they got from Gates Foundation and Carnegie Corp., (I told you they were bad).

If you go here, you can listen to a “training video” for TS Gold.

Last spring, parent Lauren Coker discovered that TS Gold assessors in her son’s Aurora, Colo., public preschool had recorded information about his trips to the bathroom, his hand-washing habits, and his ability to pull up his pants.

“When she asked if they could opt out of the system,” school officials told her “no.” She pulled her son out of the school and still doesn’t know if or how the data can be removed.

You will find that school officials will not tell you how the information is to be used; who it will be shared with, how long it will be stored or even why we are paying for the time the teacher is grilling the whole class rather than teaching?

Once again I remind you, the ultimate goal is not for improved school performance – it is for the meddling and profit for the Public-Private Partnerships that Obama gave the permission to by changing the FERPA laws. It is also about finding out things about their parents, siblings and general home life. CONTROL! “Cash Cows”!

These are considered “golden records” states Cheri Kiesecker who has fought against the student data mining in CO. She warns this information is to follow your child clear into college if he is lucky enough to get there.

Do you have any idea how much information about your children has been assessed that comes from outside the classroom and spread all over the world?

This is just another web in the Common Core spider and I hope the parents that haven’t been standing up fighting are really still standing up. Our children need someone to fight for them and stop this madness.

This war is not slowing down! Keep your kids home!

This is the scary thing depending on where you live:

  • The Family Center la familia in Fort Collins, CO – they see TS Gold as an “assessment tool enabling to increase their effectiveness. Even more worrisome is the President is a former dolphin trainer and then she went into Social Work.
  • Community School for People Under Six in Carboro, NC – the same company that makes TS Gold makes Creative Curriculum – this school claims the 2 programs allows them to promote their multi-cultural, community-based philosophy. It is CCS aligned. At times they use Americorp volunteers.
  • Collaborative for Educational Services, Northampton, MA – they are an instructional facility which is currently teaching how to us TS Gold.
  • Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County, Boynton Beach, FL – they state “Parents and providers can help enhance early childhood education in Palm Beach County by participating in a new pilot program.  Our Coalition is partnering with the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County in establishing Teaching Strategies GOLD®, an online tool to measure a child’s educational gains. The assessment captures data beginning at birth and continues accumulating it throughout the span of a child’s early education experience.”
  • Orange County, Florida Public School District, Orange County, FL – Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) assessment: This is the research based birth through kindergarten assessment as shown under the Revision of the OCPS Demonstration Project Child Care Centers & School District Community Alignment Project

You know what I can’t figure out? Why anyone would think a program used for “data mining” is a big deal just because it is “research based”

What is the research based on to track pre-school children? This makes no sense except it is intrusive without parental permission and someone is making one heck of a lot of money doing it.
