Welcome To the Global Neighborhood –

Why Are Your Children Still in Public School?  By Anita Hoge

Dear Friends,

Another school year has rolled around.  The Federal legislation, ESSA, has passed which strip your rights away as a parent.  (Did you sign a parent engagement letter or conduct compact?  I hope not.) Teachers are transmitting data on your family and children to the federal government in the SLDS. The techniques teachers are being trained to impart on your children are techniques only certified psychologists and psychiatrists can practice.  I’ve warned you but … your kids are still in school.

What are you doing to protect your children, really?  An Opt-Out of tests is meaningless when arbitrary, observational data is collected on the behavior of your children. These behavioral techniques are embedded in the curriculum and everyday classes.

Academics have been dumbed-down and most of the school day is relegated to social, emotional, and behavioral rewards, punishments, stimulus, response animal conditioning. But you do not recognize it. Seven states have been selected for experimental research on your children in the social, emotional, behavioral conditioning in the affective domain, but I didn’t hear any screaming from Pennsylvania parents or any other state.

HooverBut, there’s more. The Feds aren’t finished with your family and kids yet. The force of the new law will force everyone to comply.  Spirited children will be found through CHILD FIND. Aggressive behavior once deemed, “oh, he’s just a boy” will be gone. Creative children will become depressed and not want to go to school.  Happy children are gone. Strong willed children, smashed. Shy children will be re-mediated with psychological manipulation, daily – Interventions, interventions, interventions galore. They will not stop. Your child will become confused, pliable and recycled until he/she thinks it is normal to be in a prison called school. It’s called conditioning – BF Skinner conditioning.  Starting in universal fed pre-school- they won’t have a chance.

DSM Codes will be tallied into the NCES/IES data warehouse. MEDICAID will be billed for psych interventions. Your child will have a mental health disability for minor infractions and personality traits that are normal human feelings…pain, anguish, disappointment, elation, frustration, sadness, anger, anxiety, love, fear, hate, all of these emotions that are part of our human endeavor…forming the character of your child. They will be gone. The slate that you imprinted on your child will be wiped clean. It is a new beginning of a new world. And, it is happening now as I write to you.

Be prepared for this: Once identified to the Feds, the whole new system under ObamaCare kicks in for Medicaid age 0-21 for case management for your family. An individual family service plan is in the works for caretakers to enter your home and remediate the family; moral knowing, moral feeling, moral acting…a global agenda.

I’m not kidding. I’m scared, so I know you will be when you read this note.

Sec of Ed Terrel Bell under the Reagan administration had laid out these plans called the Knowledge Network when he was supposed to eliminate the Department of Education which never happened. Bell believed parents should not be left to raise their own children. So here we are.  You bore them, clothe them, feed them, house them…they are your children, but the federal government owns “who they are”, their character, their thinking skills have turned against you and our country for the good of globalism. That is the plan. If you do not cooperate, they will condemn you, too, as an unfit parent. This is the “Village” that Hillary dreamed of.

I can only scream so loud, DANGER! DANGER!

Please read these 3 articles that will give you the overview you need to BEGIN to understand this process. The attachments are documents from the Knowledge Network. God bless the little children.

Our Federally Mandated Education System is Child Abuse! by DianeMarie

Parents – numerous researchers, psychologists, teachers and others have been warning you for years of what is coming down the pike using your children as the bait through the education system. Charter/Choice is not the answer since there now is not only government control over your children, but corporate money feeding the pot. Who but you care enough about your children to do something about this?

What can you do? First of all primary elections are going on all over the country for local, state and federal politicians. Stop relying on the news media or a political party to pick who the best candidates are. Do your research especially on those individuals who have the power over your children.

If someone is running and has in the past signed onto these egregious education bills fire them! If your local or state board of education willingly complies, vote them out or recall them. If they state they support Common Core dump them. This applies to almost everyone running for Congress – go here and here to see if your elected officials from your state voted for the Every Student’s Success Act. Take a hard look at your governor and other state officials right down to your local school boards – if they agreed to participate in the horror of Common Core – fire them! (Remember – Cruz, Rubio and Sanders did not bother to vote because they were campaigning – that was more important).

“In the United States the general thrust of education is directed toward political life; in Europe its main aim is to fit men for private life.” de Tocqueville 1831

You owe nothing to these individuals, but you owe everything to your children. They are set to become wards of the state and your parental rights are being stripped right out from underneath you.

Bill Bennett, former Sec. of Education under Reagan was PAID by a lobbying firm to become the “Conservative Case for Common Core”. This man for years told America one of the most important things to him was our children and giving them a good education. Really? Liar!

Paid by the consulting firm DCI Group to write the op-ed perhaps explains why it doesn’t sound much like the writing of the Reagan appointee who agreed with his president at the time that there was no real necessity for a federal Department of Education. However, under the influence of Terrell Bell and other individuals he has changed his mind. Money usually does say it all!

It was very apparent in his op-ed that not only does he not know very much about the Common Core Standards, but it doesn’t take very much for him to leave whatever conservative principles he might have had in the past.

Bennett writes to conservatives, “First, we can all agree that there is a need for common standards of assessment in K-12 education.” Apparently out of touch with “we, the people,” if Bennett is a “conservative,” he would know that most Americans believe the individual states, and not the federal government, should decide their own education standards.

America has let Mike Huckabee get away with his dirty tricks of sitting with Jeb Bush’s group pushing for the preservation of the Common Core Standards. Huckabee even went so far as to have lunch in February, 2014 with the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) (all who by the way have had their palms greased through this whole thing) telling them to get rid of the “Common Core” name as it had become toxic in households all over the country. He went on to state,” Rebrand it, refocus it, but don’t retreat”. And just the previous December he sat on his TV show telling America he no longer supported Common Core. Which is it Rev. Huckabee?  Truth or dare?

And rebrand they did – did you know that? Almost every state participating in this Trojan Horse came up with ways to remove Common Core from their states standards!

  • Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) has used an executive order to purge the name “Common Core” from the standards and refer to them, instead, as Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards
  • Iowa, the Common Core standards are now called The Iowa Core
  • Florida deleted the words “Common Core” from official education documents and replaced them with Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. In fact, Gov. Scott went too far as to write a letter to Arne Duncan telling him “Florida’s Education was Florida’s Education and not the federal governments. He openly lied to the parents of Florida in regard to what he was doing.

If they have lied to you vote them out! It doesn’t matter what PARTY they are with!

Huckabee like Gov’ s Scott Walker, Chris Christie, Bobby Jindal all denounced their support of the Common Core Standards before announcing they were going to run for President. It does appear that Ted Cruz and Gov. Kasich are not the only ones who cannot stand behind their oaths. Kasich has continued to support the CCSS even when going into the primary process. Cruz stated he did not support the CCSS but co-signed with Senator Mike Lee on legislation to give an even stronger hold on our children’s education to include Home Schooling.

Even taking campaign funds to support an issue most parents in America are against is no different than “selling your soul for a few pieces of silver”, especially when the price paid is the futures of our children.

My websites and those of others have shared with you hours of research on how “they”, the boogie men of education” have planned for years to use the education system/your children to put in place their New World Order agenda under the United Nations.

Charlotte Iserbyt has been blowing the “whistle” since discovering in the 80’s while working as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education, during the first term of U.S. President Ronald Reagan and she leaked information regarding an important technology grant for computerizing our children’s education. Charlotte realized this was a major technology initiative which would control curriculum in America’s classrooms.

Project BEST: “Better Education Skills through Technology” brought about by the writings and a study done by America’s No.1 “change agent” Dr. John I. Goodlad at the Center for Educational Renewal at the University of Washington.  One book of which Iserbyt was critical, “Schooling for a Global Age”, citing the book as having less to do with fostering learning and mainly to do with psychological manipulation of students, possibly against the teaching of the child’s parents.

Senator Lamar Alexander (leader of bad education legislation), Bush family, Bill Ayers, Bill Gates, Linda Darling-Hammond and many more to include many foundations especially the Walmart Family  And Gates Foundations have poured millions/billions into bad education for our children and then they sit back and claim we need them even more because our education stats are still dropping.

Of course they are dropping because we have non-educators and indoctrinated “change agent” teachers playing manipulation games with our children’s education and their minds. Always finding grant money and legislated $$ for low income area schools – why are there low income school areas? Because the politicians have always wanted to keep them in that position – Never a “hand up” – always a “hand down”.

I will openly state that as a mother Diane Ravitch is the one who gets under my skin. She joined President George H.W. Bush’s cabinet as assistant secretary in charge of the Office of Educational Research and Improvement in the Department of Education (1991-1993) under Lamar Alexander stating she embraced the conservative mantra of standards and choice. However, if you were to read any of the books she wrote co-authored by one of the education devils Chester Finn, Jr. you might get a different picture:

  • Challenges to the Humanities May 1985 by Finn, Chester E., Jr. and Diane Ravitch
  • Against Mediocrity: The Humanities in America’s High Schools May 1, 1984 by Chester E. Finn and Diane Ravitch
  • What Do Our 17-Year-Olds Know: A Report on the First National Assessment of History and Literature Mar 1989 by Diane Ravitch and Chester E. Finn, Jr.

In Diane Ravitch’s book “Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America’s Public Schools” she tells you she is answering all the questions about why American education is in crisis and gives ideas as to what reforms can be implemented. One of her ideas is to include the Sen. Lamar Alexander and Chester Finn idea to include Pre-K programs (get’um young) and her version of school choice.

Sadly, most of her recommendations are based on Abraham Maslow’s “Hierarchy of Needs” which gives you a good dose of the Humanistic Psychology worldview as he sees it. LINK

Anyone who would quote Maslow’s Humanistic Psychology (Third Force Psychology) is basing their worldview on the “whole child” theory, and the behavioral science that originated with Freud and was developed by B.F. Skinner.”  Anita Hoge

Ravitch later became a supporter of President George W. Bush’s No Child Left Behind, which he signed into law in 2002, but she changed her view after researching the consequences of NCLB on schools, students and teachers. Her 2010 book, “The Death and Life of the Great American School System,” is supposed to explain why she changed her mind.

Sorry, Diane the damage has been done! Last year while Alexander was doing his push for the changes in the NCLB garbage Ravitch wrote to him explaining why she found the current education system (CCSS) unacceptable for our children. Her letter is a good one, but when she stated as to why she admired him I thought I would be sick as Alexander has been pushing for “cradle to grave” federal control of our children since the early 80’s. How can you work for a person in that capacity and not know their agenda? Letter

Boogyman in the closetI see Alexander as a drooling, black monster hovering in the darkness waiting to snatch up young children to end up with glazed eyes and no thought processes of their own.

Being a conservative and wanting our government governing the country by the Constitution and not political correctness is not wrong, but this is where our elected’s have led our country. We get people that claim they are conservatives to run and they wear that badge proudly while campaigning, but when they leave for their state capitals and Washington they leave it on their dresser at home, tarnished and void of honesty. Remember we as Americans are operating under two different systems – one for them and one for us.  If we lie to the government it a felony, but if they lie to us it politics as usual.

Sadly and extremely dangerous has been the Charter/Choice agenda. John Oliver’s video here although a little brash is extremely truthful as to what is happening throughout the country in our Charter schools. The political push for our government to unite with corporate America using our children as “Human Collateral” is inhuman!

It’s not happening in just one state but all over the country and they are NOT being held accountable for their actions and our children are the ones suffering from all these grandiose ideas, thoughts and actions taking place across our country. Using our children for this should be an offense that comes with jail time. I forgot – child abuse does!

I rest my case!

Have They Succeeded? Are We “Dumbed Down”?

From Time to Time you will see I have guest postings from friends who have been researching the failure of our education system for more years than I can count.

ccs from here to thereWhy should this surprise anyone? The process of dumbing down the nation has been in progress and successful beyond the perpetrator’s greatest expectations. It was begun in earnest at least nearly half century ago when the Federal Government went into high gear enabled by ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) of mid 1960’s. It involved both content of curricula but perhaps even more importantly, methodology in the classrooms and elsewhere. Voices in the wilderness tried to alert and inform along the way ever since mid 20th Century with the general public and even classroom teachers (some recognized and left the profession) refusing or unable to grasp the process for what it was. It was all documented and capsulized in a1999 by one consummate source which was essentially ignored or avoided. Charlotte Iserbyt’s book, THE DELIBERATE DUMBING DOWN OF AMERICA spelled out the process and again in the abridged and revised book of the same title in 2011.

Those who are alarmed at the statistics reported below have only themselves to blame for allowing themselves to keep heads in sand, denying what the documented evidence of a planned dumbing down and the objective of the agenda. What can be done now with the couple generations who have been dumbed down is questionable, for the powers that be want it that way. Getting the Federal government, as well as corporate interests and their foundations out of the picture might be starting point. But the partially informed are repeating the mistakes of former resistance who see the problem as separate agendas as each abomination comes along, as the well intended opposition is doing now re: Common Core Standards while the show goes on.

Mary relocated with her husband to California where she became active in Republican Party, then as an early activist opposing innovations in schools which were emanating from Washington resulting from the passage of ESEA. She formed an organization with another mother and political activist to become a research source for information and opposition to the imposition of an all inclusive curricula in the nation’s schools, called Family Life Education as well as PPBS, the management by objectives system used to accomplish the acceptance of FLE.

Mary continues to research and fight against the “Dumbing Down” of our children through the gradual destruction of our Education system.

The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #4

As I post the last of this series it brings to my mind what I was doing in the 80’s. Kids in school, working and trying to get some enjoyment out of life through my kids, friends and activities. I was like everyone else in regard to my children’s education. Would I have liked to send my children to private school – sure, but it was not possible. Too many kids and not enough money – my fault, but that is the way it was.

I was also like the rest of my friends – we did the same thing parents had been doing since 1964 – sending our children off for 6-7 hours a day to be over seen by TOTAL STRANGERS of which we knew NOTHING about and never did unless there was a problem at school. My kids knew if they got into trouble in school they were in more trouble when they got home. If they felt they were wrongly accused of something, you didn’t talk back to the teacher, you came home and told me about it and I would do the rest.

How I wish I had seen this report and known about Charlotte Iserbyt’s book! Today God has blessed me with an extremely supportive husband, kids who have grown up to be responsible, respectful citizens and the friendship of Charlotte Iserbyt and her many. many circle of researching friends. I certainly do not know what is going to happen to the generations coming behind, but I do have a good clue. Our government’s formation of an education system that will deliberately “dumb down” our children into Communist “school-to-work” robot’s and all the while the same government continually repeating over and over “they know what is best for everyone” is like a Science Fiction novel.

And they don’t – everything they say is a lie and everything they touch turns to crap! Their record speaks for itself and they know it. The only chance for survival for our future generations is for the current one to wake up, share what you know and give up some of your free time to learn more. This idea the government has that “we work for them now” has trickled down to the state and local governments. It is not a PARTY thing – both sides are just as guilty and currently the REPUBLICANS are in deep “doo-doo” when it comes to the Education mess!

And one more thing! Being a former Republican (now just a conservative) I want to remind you that the big push for this miserable education “plan” came during the Reagan years with the Education Treaty with Russia and the rest is history. Even Eisenhower’s “American Assembly”, which developed the predetermined,socialistic “Goals for Americans” in 1960 had a hand in this. Then the Clinton years with the supervising eyes of Marc Tucker, but the big push came with “NCLB” under President George W. Bush which is now being implemented through his son Jeb Bush in his push and endorsement of School Choice, the “non-elected” school board Charter Schools and the Communist Common Core State Standards all with the overseeing eye of the UN/UNESCO!

May the Lord have mercy on the country and its people for the evil they have perpetrated on its children!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
by Alan Caruba
I have lived my whole life in an affluent, suburban community in Northern New Jersey. When I attended its schools in the 1940’s and 1950’s, the vast percentage of graduating seniors went onto college. Their parents had migrated from Newark during or just after WWII because the schools had an excellent reputation. Today, they are not much better than those of the inner city.
Here’s an excerpt from a letter to the editor in our local weekly. “I understand that our education officials have yet to detail for the public exactly what measures have been taken to ensure that a first-rate education will be provided for students.” This stonewalling is endemic to education bureaucrats across the nation. He thinks he’s going to get an answer. He won’t.
An F“I was horrified to learn that 34 percent of the eighth grade students in (our) Middle School were found only partially proficient ‘the worst grouping’ in the 2000 GEPA math section. Simply put, we rank 97th out of 97 schools in this failing category. Further, this dreadful performance has been repeated over the past several years.
“As a homeowner and a taxpayer, I want to know how the district’s school budget increased from $51 million five years ago to $70 million today, a 37 percent increase over four years, during which time these poor test scores have not gotten measurably better and our last place ranking has not moved out of the cellar.”
Throwing more and more money at our nation’s current education system is not the answer. The system is inherently flawed because it is not intended to provide a basic 3R’s education.
President Bush proposes to introduce a national educational standard and then test to it, but we already know American students are deficient in all the areas of knowledge the schools are supposed to be teaching. The tests today’s students take are more about their values than about any body of knowledge they have acquired. Today’s schools are not about educating students. They are about teaching attitudes and values.
3 monkeys 4If you have been reading my series over the past three commentaries in this series, you already know that the system has been designed to deliberately dumb down students.
The architects of this attack on our nation’s youth can be found in the US Department of Education. They have adopted psychological methods of conditioning and jettisoned the teaching of information and basic skills. It is called “Outcome-Based Education.”
Today’s students, as opposed to their grandfather’s or even their father’s education, are being systematically conditioned to think in “global” terms about humanity, nations, religions, and, of course, the environment. They are conditioned to be citizens, not of the United States, but of the world.
That’s what you need when you’re creating a socialist one-world governmental system and that is exactly what is occurring at the United Nations.
Today’s students are taught not to make value judgments about other nations, even if they are authoritarian dictatorships. They may not know where Brazil is on the map, but they “know” all the rain forests are disappearing. They don’t know when the Civil War took place or why, but they “know” that all the Founding Fathers were slave-owners. They also “know” that America’s history is one of destroying the native Indian nations, taking their land, and exploiting it with farms, mining, and the destruction of whole forests. They cannot tell you what the Bill of Rights is, but they “know” the US is the leading contributor of “greenhouse gases” to the atmosphere, thereby causing global warming. It is a full course of lies.
They haven’t a clue about the individualism, sacrifice, daring and innovation that made this nation great, nor its political system, and most certainly not its history.
As Charlotte Thompson Iserbyt writes in her book, The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, they aren’t being “taught the difference between free enterprise and planned economies, i.e., socialism; between ‘group thinking’ and individual freedom and responsibility.”
By the 1990’s the decades of effort to overturn an education system that taught specific bodies of information and the skills to use them arithmetic, spelling, history, civics, science’ had effectively been transformed into today’s touchy-feely system. It is a place where a student’s feelings of self-esteem are more important than whether they actually know anything other than the specific answers to the test. Thus teachers now “teach to the test” (their paycheck depends on it) rather than provide a broader body of knowledge. It is a place where competition is discouraged as unfair to those less qualified for any reason. It is a place where socialist attitudes and values are the priority, not knowledge.
NCLB SigningGiven President George W. Bush’s enthusiasm for education that is “accountable” and “will leave no child behind”, will it surprise anyone that the “America 2000 Plan”, written in 1991, was presented to the American people by Lamar Alexander, the Secretary of Education serving his father, President George Herbert Walker Bush?
The “America 2000 Plan” proposed to radically restructure American society, beginning with its schools. It was intended to affect 110,00 public and private schools. When you’re trying to create good little socialists, you can’t afford to have anyone who is being taught to think independently or asked to incorporate moral and ethical values.
The “voucher” program exists to give the federal government control over private schools because, whoever pays the piper, chooses the tune. Schools that accept voucher students will soon find themselves required to accept federal education regulations as well.
Goals 2000 and School-to-Work programs introduced to transform our schools reflect what Iserbyt describes as “the internationalization of education with exchanges of data systems, curricula, methods, et cetera, all essential for the implementation of the international socialist management and control system being put in place right now.”
Everything, including the SAT college entrance tests, has been degraded to mask the dumbing down those who are passing through our schools. Today’s SATs permit students to use electronic calculators, ask fewer questions in general and fewer multiple-choice math questions in particular. Reading passages now ask definitions from context and the formerly difficult antonym section, calling for linguistic and intellectual subtleties, has been dropped entirely.
My hometown’s parent who could not get any answers from his district’s school board could not know that this is repeated across America in school after school. Parents are routinely lied to. Worse, today’s parents are often required to put their child put on a regimen of Ritalin, a mind-altering drug. We’ve got seven million government-approved drug addicts going to school in drug-free zones!
To the individual parent, there seems to be no way to resist the juggernaut of a system that routinely turns out thousands of “educated” morons. Some choose to home-school their children. Others who can afford it send them to private schools. Still others shell out for after-school tutoring services. Why? Because the schools have been “restructured.”
President Bush is not providing a solution. He is part of the problem. His father was part of the problem. Presidents going back to Eisenhower have been part of the problem because they failed to see that introducing Soviet-style educational methods’behavior modification to produce good little socialists–into American schools was destined to bring us to this point.
Education is not about national standards and national testing. It’s about individual schools in individual school districts, all answerable to their communities and to the parents of the children entrusted to them. It’s not about how the child feels, but about how well the child learns. There is pride in learning, but if there are no grades, how does anyone, parent, child or teacher know what, if anything, is being learned?
Congress will probably give President Bush the $5 billion he wants to throw away on failed reading programs, and money for the national educational standards and testing he wants. Previous Congresses have gone along, failing or refusing to see how the educational system has been corrupted. The Republican “Contract with America” and the campaign promise of Ronald Reagan to dismantle the Department of Education had it right. It didn’t happen. It is the only hope to reverse the damage and return schools to local control.
Sit down with your child and watch “Jeopardy” together. If neither you, nor your child knows the answer to anything other than the television or film questions, you’re in trouble. Now multiply that against an entire population of Americans who don’t know the answers either.
The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #3
FDOE SealThis will come as a surprise to you, everything about the nation’s educational system does, but Congress back in 1970 recognized that the federal government is supposed to have limited authority when it comes to education. An amended General Education Provisions Act specifically articulated a “Prohibition against Federal Control of Education.
It forbids the federal government from exercising any “direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration or personnel of any education institution, school, or school system, or over the selection of library resources, textbooks, or other printed or published instructional materials by any educational institution or school system.”
The loophole through which the subversion of our education system was accomplished was federal funding of “research” and “development.”
By the 1980’s (see the previous two editions of Warning Signs for a look at the 1960’s and 1970’s by clicking on the Archives below) the effort to turn schools from places where students actually learn something to places where their values, beliefs, and cognitive skills were determined by “Outcome Based Education”, behavior modification programs. The objective of these programs is to turn students in to little citizens of a one-world government where they are mere economic units, not individuals, nor people who give much thought to individual liberty.
Individual liberty was the reason the American Revolution was fought and is the philosophical basis for every word in the US Constitution. A generation or two of Americans who are systematically robbed of any knowledge of this are ripe for an authoritarian takeover.
The father of this movement is Prof. Benjamin Bloom and his book, “All Our Children learning”. Published in 1981, it is the bible of OBE. In it he says, “The purpose of education and the schools is to change the thoughts, feelings, and actions of students.” No, the purpose of education is to provide students with a sufficient knowledge of basic skills in writing, reading, arithmetic, as well as history and the sciences. Thus prepared, they are likely to be the kind of citizens that will question efforts to deprive this nation of its sovereignty in favor of a world government run out of the United Nations.
It gets worse. Writing in The Effective School Report, Dr. Thomas A. Kelly, Ph.D., stated that “The brain should be used for processing, not storage.” This is the view of education that says you prepare students to take a test determined by federal standards of what they should know. The student is merely to process predetermined bits and pieces of information. The best example of this is the rat’s maze where the rat learns to follow a specific path to get a piece of cheese.
Indoctrinate U
This is a simplified explanation of why today’s children have difficulty acquiring and retaining a body of useful, long-term information such as multiplication tables or who the nation’s presidents have been, the 50 States of the Union, when the Civil War was fought, where India can be found on a map, the names of the earth’s oceans, et cetera!
The whole movement to utterly change the direction and purpose of our nation’s schools picked up momentum in the 1980’s and, sorry to say it, it occurred on Ronald Reagan’s watch. The harsh truth about the subversion of the nation’s schools has not been a Democratic or Republican program. It has occurred no matter who was in office or who controlled Congress. It happened because few politicians were paying any attention to what was really occurring over at the Department of Education.
In her book, “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America”, Charlotte Thompson Iserbyt, says, “The real purpose of this project was to propose a radical redesign of the nation’s education system from one based on inputs to one based on outputs.” It switched, in other words, from a curriculum of content a student was required to learn, to a series of answers the student was supposed to repeat when tested. Or as Iserbyt explains it, the system turned away “from one oriented toward the learning of academic content to one based on performance of selected skills, necessary for the implementation of school-to-work” The schools, with direction from the DOE and grants from major foundations, as well as input from corporate leaders, were redesigned to produce workers.
Well, what’s so bad about that? We need workers. Ask anyone responsible for the management of any size organization, from a local bakery to a major corporation, what their primary problem is and they will tell you it’s finding good workers. That is to say, finding people with even the most basic education or skills to perform any job with a minimum of competency. That is the result of the education system that has been foisted on this nation.
Take away their pocket calculators and the newest generation of workers cannot add or subtract. Take away “spell check” on their computers and they are helpless to spell accurately. These are basic skills Americans used to learn in one-room schoolhouses heated with a wood-burning oven. They could also tell you the branches of the US government and a whole lot more than today’s graduates.
In the 1980’s the DOE says Iserbyt, “effectively transformed the essential character of the nation’s public schools from ‘teaching’—the most traditional and conservative role of schools—to ‘workforce training’—perceived as liberal and ‘progressive.'” It is a particular irony that one of Ronald Reagan’s campaign platforms was the abolishing of the Department of Education. He was right. He didn’t do it.
Why Do We Need Schools
What, in fact, happened was that control of the schools and their curriculum’s increasing moved up the decision-making ladder away from local school boards and even state education departments. Administrators and teachers were delighted with this because it eliminated the “meddling” of locally elected and locally responsible school board members.
The instrument for this was the development of a “Course Goals Collection” completed by the DOE in 1980-81. “The collection consists of fourteen volumes with 15,000 goals covering every major subject taught in the public schools from K-12.” Remember that 1970 prohibition on any federal government involvement in instruction? Nobody else did either.
In 1981, 70,000 copies were distributed, despite the fact that only approximately 16,000 school districts existed. And you wonder why every state now has the same goals? With remarkable success, Outcome-Based Education became the way American students were to be trained to believe the same things, have the same values, and to ignore those they were taught at home.
This is important because values are supposed to be the job of parents. Some parents are Catholic. Some parents are Protestant. Some are Jewish or Moslum. Some are liberal and some are conservative. Their values no longer seem to matter. That’s why there no longer is a moment of prayer in any school in America. That’s why the school day often does not begin with the salute to the flag or a recitation of a pledge of allegiance. Much of the day is spent “teaching to the test” whose standards were determined in Washington, D.C., not by the parents, not by the local school board, not by anyone you know!
How was this achieved? Because, according to a 1981 report by the Office of Educational Research and Improvement, “Federal funds account for approximately ten percent of national expenditures on education. The Federal share of educational research and related activities, however, is ninety percent of the total national investment.”
Deliberate dumbing downThus, as Iserbyt notes in her book, “just about everything that goes on in the classrooms of American public schools, with the exception of salaries, school buildings, buses, and the purchase of equipment, is either a direct or indirect result of funding by the U.S. Department of Education as research!”
It should come as no surprise that, by the end of the 1980Õs, writing in the January 25, 1989 issue of Education Week, Chester E. Finn, Jr., the former head of the DOE’s research branch, would tell business leaders that he favored a “national curriculum.” Flashback to the congressional prohibition on a curriculum determined at the federal level. Consider it null and void. The people in the DOE obviously did.
Little wonder, too, that in 1989, then-President George H. Bush unveiled “America 2000” (now known as “Goals 2000”) to the National Governor’s Association that virtually set in concrete the whole behavior modification movement that has been foisted on the American education system.
That same year, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development’s Elementary Global Education Framework was announced. Its goals were to create “Human beings whose home is planet earth, who are citizens of a multicultural democratic society in an increasingly interconnected world, and who learn, care, think, choose, and act, to celebrate life on this planet, and to meet the global challenges confronting Humankind.”
NO! We are talking about AMERICAN students going to AMERICAN schools in the sovereign nation of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We are not sending kids to school to become citizens of the world, programmed to deal with global challenges, i.e., threats to the environment that require we all cut back on the use of energy or pick up the bill to bring developing nations up to speed. That is exactly the game plan of the United Nations and the worldwide conspiracy of socialists masquerading as environmentalists.
That is, however, what is going on in our schools TODAY. That’s why President George W. Bush’s proposal to throw $5 billion at those schools, presumably to teach a subject, reading, they should already be teaching, is a continuation of the same bad ideas that president’s since Eisenhower have been rubber-stamping. And then ignoring.
The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #2
Just how did education in America turn from being a system that imparts knowledge to one that uses behavior modification techniques to influence the attitudes and beliefs of those passing through it?
nclbTo achieve this, beginning in the 1960’s, the perpetrators of the subversion have employed deception to achieve their goals. Earlier this month, a New Jersey daily newspaper ran an editorial, “Let board members speak”, noting that members of a local school board had been restricted from speaking to the press to avoid “confusion” about the board’s programs and objectives. “But this isn’t about ‘confusion’,” said the editorial. “It’s about control”, adding “And it is insulting to the public and the idea of open local government.”
There is nothing “open” about the effort to subvert education in America. It only has that appearance because it takes place at presumably local school boards or in a state education department. Always, the vehicle is a governmental agency. The controlling player, however, is the US Department of Education.
The objective of those who control our educational systems has long been to produce poorly educated, little world citizens, ready to forego the liberties guaranteed by the oldest living Constitution. The system introduced into American schools mirrors the Soviet and Communist Chinese systems that produce a compliant and complacent population.
To achieve this, they have had to dumb-down the students passing through the system. On February 17, 2001, the Los Angeles Times reported that the president of the University of California “wants to eliminate the SAT as a requirement for admission to all eight of the university’s undergraduate campuses.” What a great way to further dilute all standards for academic achievement!NCLB Signing
In January 2001, the Times reported that the University of California kicked out 2,009 students, six percent of last year’s freshman class, for failing to master basic math and English skills in their first year of classes. These are skills that should have been mastered in their first twelve years in California schools! It means that the diplomas they received are worthless pieces of paper.
This pattern repeats itself from state to state because it is the educational system that is failing American students. The President’s emphasis on testing misses the point entirely!
In the January/February 2001 issue of The American Enterprise, devoted to why some few schools succeed while the majority fail, Karl Zinsmeister writes that “it’s extremely interesting how many common traits are shared by the successful schools we profile. A remarkably similar basic formula applies in almost all of these places: high demands on students, strict discipline, a strong and unapologetic moral component, including a respect for religion, an emphasis on teaching intellectual basics, a preference for time-tested books and curricula, clear standards of dress, grooming, and comportment, and an insistence on politeness, respect and courtesy.”
Compare that to schools in your area where the way students dress is an offense to decorum, the language they use is replete with profanities, and their chief complaint is that they have too much homework.
President Bush has bought into the Education Establishment’s systematic stupification of students. He is not the first President to fall prey to this effort. To learn the facts, you must read The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt.
The President has proposed a five billion-dollar program to help children learn to read. Please! Please, please, will someone explain to me why spending even more money will answer the question of why our schools, soaking up billions a year, are NOT teaching this already?
One need only look at the realities of education in Texas to see why the call for national testing standards is a deception. An excellent article by Jerry Jesness in the November 2000 issue of Reason magazine blows away the hype about the test scores of Texas students. Despite apparent improvements, a closer look at the test scores of basic skills places young Texans in 39th place for SAT scores.
In 1984, the State adopted the Texas Educational Assessment of Minimal Skills that established minimal standards for graduation. The result has been that a considerable amount of time is spent “teaching to the test” in schools throughout Texas. Students are taught strategies to pass the text. For example, the acquisition of real arithmetical skills is sacrificed to methods that include drawing and counting sticks! This is not progress and the test is, essentially, meaningless.
All this was foretold back in the 1970’s as the “educrats” continued their efforts to undermine the teaching of basic knowledge. In 1976, Catherine Barrett, then president of the National Education Association, gave a speech in which she said, “First, we will help all of our people understand that school is a concept and not a place. We will not confuse “schooling” with education. The school will be the community, the community the school.” This predates Hillary Clinton’s “it takes a village” concept, but it reflects a communist view that all of society must be employed to form the views of students. Individualism is bad. Conforming to the group is good.
Barrett went on to say “We will need to recognize that so-called basic skills, which currently represent nearly the total effort in elementary schools, will be taught in one quarter of the present school day. The remaining time will be devoted to what is truly fundamental and basic—time for academic inquiry, time for students to develop their own interests, time for a dialogue between students and teachers, more than a dispenser of information, the teacher will be a conveyor of values, a philosopher. Students will learn to write love letters and lab notes.”
You may want to read this again. The then-head of the NEA was talking about turning the school day into one devoted to just about everything other than the teaching of reading, writing and arithmetic. Teachers were, instead, to become “agents of change.”
nclb-horsey-cartoonThe change incorporated into today’s educational programs is intended to change the entire social structure of our society and the values that had made it great. Competition and achievement in the acquisition of basic knowledge and the skills to implement that knowledge are jettisoned in favor of changing attitudes about family, patriotism, religion, and sexuality. Look around you and ask yourself why we now except all forms of “families.” Look around you and ask why we live in a cultural environment drenched with sexuality without responsibility. Ask yourself why millions fail to vote. Look at the way the expression of religious values is continually derided.
In 1972, Dr. Chester M. Pierce, MD, of Harvard University wrote an article entitled “Becoming Planetary Citizens: A Quest for Meaning” that appeared in the November issue of Childhood Education. He was concerned that children, by the age of five, “already have a lot of political attitudes”, among which were “a tenacious loyalty to his country and its leader.” What he wanted was a child who entered kindergarten “with the same kind of loyalty to the earth as to his homeland.”
This is a formula for degrading patriotism and loyalty to everything for which this nation stands in favor of creating citizens of the “global government” being pursued by the United Nations and the environmentalism that preaches against the use of the earth’s natural resources.
All throughout the 1970’s, the Federal government funded these goals. Local educational systems were taken over by programs designed to destroy local control. I do not want President Bush’s education proposals to succeed because they reflect the continued subversion of our nation’s schools by the Department of Education.
The process dates back to the 1960’s, continued through the 1970’s, and in the following discussion of education in America, we will see how they increased through the 1980’s.
The Subversion of Education in America: Lesson #1
This 4 part series was written some years back by Alan Caruba from the Anxiety Center and is extremely well written to show parents how, what and who is happening to their children’s education. It is more important today than it was when he wrote it. I am presenting it in the 4 parts so you can take your time to read it and let it sink in.
Deliberate dumbing down Charlotte Iserbyt, in her wisdom and love of children has given her permission for this series to be re-published. Thank you Ms. Charlotte, for without your friendship and knowledge I would still be in the dark!
I’ll bet you think that the problems with our nation’s schools are a fairly recent phenomenon. Wrong. It dates backs to the 1960’s. Those that have implemented the subversion of our educational system have sought to fly well below the radar of public awareness, depending on stealth and duplicity to achieve the wreckage that has already stunted the lives of thousands who have passed through it.
No other topic has evoked as much email as did our weekly “Warning Signs” commentary, “Indoctrination, Not Education.” Good. Time to wake up America!
In this and three other commentaries, I will walk you through the history of the problem with the help of an extraordinary book, “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America” by Charlotte Thomson Iserbyt. The facts I will share with you are found in a fat compendium of research by this former senior official with the US Department of Education who discovered the mother lode, copied it, and fled. She is one of America’s unsung heroes.dunce-cap-120x150
As Iserbyt points out, in the 1960’s “American education would henceforth concern itself with the importance of the group rather than with the importance of the individual.” The purpose of education would shift to focus on the student’s emotional health, rather than academic learning. Remember the 1960’s? Sex, drugs and rock’n roll? Drop out, tune in, and turn on? Just about everything that is wrong with America today had its genesis in this pathetic decade of youthful self-indulgence.”
In 1965, there were two major federal initiatives developed with funding from The Elementary and Secondary Education Act passed that year. One was the 1965-1969 Behavioral Science Teacher Education Program and the other was the publication by the government of “Pacesetters in Innovation”, a 584-page catalogue of behavior modification programs to be used by the schools.
Let me repeat that: a catalogue of behavior modification programs! We’re not talking of programs to teach students anything. We are talking about programs to indoctrinate children passing through the system to believe in values contrary to those on which this nation was based.
In brief, the intention was to create a generation or two of Americans who would accept the United Nations, not the United States, as their new “nation”, a global nation, one-world government. The last thing the conspirators wanted was a nation of individuals who could or would actually think for themselves. This is how we ended up with Bill Clinton, the classic student achiever of the 1960’s.
Iserbyt writes that, “In 1960, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization’s Convention Against Discrimination was signed in Paris. This convention laid the groundwork for control of American education, both public and private, by UN agencies and agents.”
Now connect the dots. In 1960, “Soviet Education Programs: Foundations, Curriculums, Teacher Preparation” was published under the auspices of the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare. It was the blueprint for the US school-to-work restructuring that would take place and it would rely on the “Pavlovian conditioned reflex theory.” The mastermind of mind control and conditioning was a psychologist, Dr. B.F. Skinner who was the guru of the mess that passes for education in America today.
Though hard to believe even now, the US adopted the Soviet Communist approach to education. In 1961, Rep. John M. Ashbrook tried to alert Congress to what was happening. Citing a document published by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare called “A Federal Education Agency for the Future, ” he called the new education programs “a blueprint for complete domination and direction of our schools from Washington. Guess what? He was right.
That is why the educational reform this nation really needs is the complete elimination of the US Department of Education. It won’t happen. For the same reason we are now only learning that those “Red baiters” of the 1950’s were right to assert the Department of State was shot through with Communists, no one in 2001 is going to believe that the US Department of Education is modeled on Communist theories.
Parent Trigger & the Money Changers!
Parent Trigger 3What is a Parent Trigger law? The proposals have varied from state to state, but they generally allow parents at any failing school, defined by standardized testing, to sign a petition to radically transform the school using any of four “triggers.” Parents can petition to: 1) fire the principal, 2) fire half of the teachers, 3) close the school and let parents find another option, or 4) convert the school into a charter school.
While the details of how the school can be “restructured” also vary from state to state, the charter school option is always present and actually the main focus. Charter schools are privately managed, taxpayer-funded public schools which are granted greater autonomy from regulations applicable to other public schools, ostensibly in exchange for greater accountability for results, but they have been criticized for uneven and mediocre track records.
Add to this the involvement of businesses in the Charter school “business” which in fact makes Charter schools not only “for-profit”, but also “public-private partnerships” .
Realizing the “goal” of the Charter school system is the “unelected” school boards of each Charter school. The “goal” and “agenda” is to do away with elected school boards. Think about that! With each Charter school having unelected boards and yet using tax payer $$ to fund the schools, that is “taxation without representation”.
“The Money Changers” – ALEC, Heartland Institute, Bill Gates Foundation, Jeb Bush Foundation x2, Michelle Rhee – Student’s First, Parents Across America, Pearson Publishing, Pearson Foundation, Koch Bros., K-12, Bridgeport Education, Rupert Murdock, Philip Anschultz, right-wing extremist , Eli Broad Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Parent Revolution Board chair Rica Orszag and original member of Bill Clinton’s “Global Initiative and so many more I don’t have enough room?
How do you go against this kind of financial control?
I have asked this question time and time again with no answer – “If all of you money mouthpieces think you have the answer to the woes of our education system, why are you not giving all that money to the public school systems to raise teacher salaries, repair schools, buy uniforms and musical instruments, putting more into scholarships rather than creating another division within our country to make a profit and in the process USE OUR CHILDREN AS BAIT?” Why are you not including educators when creating curriculum’s or rules and laws?
What they will not tell you or admit to is that Charter schools along with the “Parent Trigger” legislation is a communist “school – to – work” agenda. This offense against our children was first introduced in The Carnegie Institute Report on Social Studies in 1934. http://www.scribd.com/doc/32432452/Carnegie-Endowment-AHA-Report-on-the-Commission-on-Social-Studies
This study was funded to the tune of $340,000 by the Carnegie Corporation and at a 1934 currency rate exchange that was a great deal of money! Professor Harold Laski, the philosopher of British socialism, said of this report: “At bottom, and stripped of its carefully neutral phrases, the Report is an educational program for a Socialist America.” An important and revealing excerpt from Conclusions and Recommendations follows:
The Commission was also driven to this broader conception of its task by the obvious fact that American civilization, in common with Western civilization, is passing through one of the great critical ages of history, is modifying its traditional faith in economic individualism [free enterprise], and is embarking upon vast experiments in social planning and control which call for large-scale cooperation on the part of the people…. (pp.1–2)
…Cumulative evidence supports the conclusion that in the United States and in other countries the age of “laissez faire” in economy and government is closing and that a new age of collectivism is emerging. www.deliberatedumbingdown.com
Back to the “Money Changers” – The recent movie “Won’t Back Down” was meant to push ALEC’s “Parent Trigger Proposal”. For those of you who might not know what “ALEC” is – it is a group of major American corporations and right-wing legislators who craft and vote on “model” bills behind closed doors. These bills include extreme gun laws, like Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law implicated in the Trayvon Martin shooting, union-busting legislation, Arizona style anti-immigrant legislation, maybe your states Energy bill or sustainable development legislation and voter suppression laws that have sparked lawsuits across the nation.
They are kind of like the “hump” on the back of the Hunchback of Notre Dame! Or maybe something as simple as Lucifer’s Shadow! That’s how I think of people using our children for financial and communistic gains.
There are millions of dollars out there sponsoring ALEC by corporate funds being funneled through ALEC to “buy” votes. I was extremely happy to see Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, Kraft, General Mills, Mereck and Duke Energy among approximately 30 other sponsors withdraw their support of ALEC over what they called “the organizations extreme agenda”. ALEC’s support of the movie “Won’t Back Down” was the final straw that broke the camel’s back.
Don’t get too excited though because this tells you these corporations are leaning very far to the left.
In addition, Heartland Institute recently suffered an exodus of corporate sponsors after it launched a billboard comparing those who believe in the science behind global warming to the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski.
You can see how things are splitting even in the corporate world. The left leaning corporations are against School Choice, Charter schools and Vouchers not because they are bringing in a communist agenda and curriculums but because the Teachers Unions are against it.
Somehow the far right has gotten on this bandwagon of knowing what is good for our children and will “NEVER” admit they are pushing a Communist agenda and supporting the New World Order. But NEVER FORGET the left is also working on the New World Order – they just have different ideas on how to achieve it.
I am trying to help you understand you cannot trust either party in today’s world.
Example: Marc Tucker is the President and CFO of the NATIONAL CENTER ON EDUCATION AND THE ECONOMY. A socialist deeply in bed with the Clinton’s, Bill Gates, Rockefeller’s and other Progressive Socialists, wrote his famous letter to Hillary 7 days after Bill’s election in 1992 – http://www.eagleforum.org/educate/marc_tucker/
Tucker’s ambitious plan was implemented in three laws passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton in 1994: the Goals 2000 Act, the School-to-Work Act, and the reauthorized Elementary and Secondary Education Act. These laws establish the following mechanisms to restructure the public schools:
1. Bypass all elected officials on school boards and in state legislatures by making federal funds flow to the Governor and his appointees on workforce development boards.
2. Use a computer database, a.k.a. “a labor market information system,” into which school personnel would scan all information about every schoolchild and his family, identified by the child’s social security number: academic, medical, mental, psychological, behavioral, and interrogations by counselors. The computerized data would be available to the school, the government, and future employers.
3. Use “national standards” and “national testing” to cement national control of tests, assessments, school honors and rewards, financial aid, and the Certificate of Initial Mastery (CIM), which is designed to replace the high school diploma.
Designed on the German system, the Tucker plan is to train children in specific jobs to serve the workforce and the global economy instead of to educate them so they can make their own life choices – “school-to-work”!
AND – School Choice, Vouchers, Charter Schools, Parent Trigger Bill, Parental Rights – all those names mean the same thing they are just loaded with other words meant to confuse you and they do!
This whole process of “dumbing down our children” has been a long, slow process with a firm foothold beginning in the early 1900’s. COMMUNISM is very patient – they know how to play the game!
“Your children’s children will live under COMMUNISM. You AMERICANS are so gullible. No, you won’t accept COMMUNISM outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of SOCIALISM until you will finally wake up & find that you already have COMMUNISM. We won’t ever have to fight you; we’ll weaken your economy until you fall like overripe fruit into our hands.” Nikita Khrushchev 1959
Added note: bottom line – the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, UNIONS AND BUSINESSES AROUND AMERICA ALONG WITH FOREIGN COUNTRIES/BUSINESSES HAVE NO BUSINESS BELING INVOLVED IN THE EDUCATION OF OUR CHILDREN.
It is the responsibility of the individual states and their parents – not Unions either but parents!
Who do you trust? Not a politician!
CCCS or CSCOPE – Any Difference? Not Much!
CSCOPE 2Maybe you have heard of CSCOPE, maybe not. If you haven’t you need to do some background reading on it. It is a Virtual Program currently being used in 875 districts in Texas supposedly as an alternative to the Common Core Standards of which Texas opted out of. Texas taxpayer dollars are paying for this costing from $7 to $9 per student to “rent” CSCOPE each school year.
A little background so that maybe you will understand the grand scheme of things and how important it is for the Progressive/Marxist individuals in America to ruin and indoctrinate our children through education.
CSCOPE was originally produced in 2005-2006 by outside consultants, one of whom was Linda Darling-Hammond who is tied to Obama and the Common Core Standards which is the takeover of the public schools by the federal government. Hammond was also on Obama’s consideration list for the Secretary of Education position.
Linda Darling-Hammond (who has signed a pledge to be good without God) is a Humanist and above all a MARXIST who follows the teaching of Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky, who was a Russian Marxist and Soviet psychologist who died in the early 1930’s. She is also a close friend of Communist Bill Ayers.
Darling-Hammond and Vygotsky’s idea of education is an education that is NOT based on individual achievement but on the collective. It is a watered down education that removes vocabulary, novels, cursive writing and the basics of algebra. “The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America” by Charlotte Iserbyt. www.deliberatedumbingdown.com
Anytime you see or hear the word COLLECTIVE run! It is just another word for COMUNISUM!
Though Texas did not officially adopt the Common Core Curriculum Standards (CCCS), some of their education officials found a way to implement a similar product that has Common Core written all over it called CSCOPE. CSCOPE was purchased and implemented without parent’s knowledge.
The word of warning here is parents need to be very aware of any and ALL Virtual programs their children are using whether it is in school or at home. In Texas’ case the curriculum has not been available for parents to see and teachers had to sign a non-disclosure statement that they would not release the contents or say anything negative about it.
Homework is discouraged not to give the children more family time, but so parents do not see the material. Textbooks are also discouraged so there is no consistent reference to support or question. Because this program is not reviewed by the State Board of Education, content is not scrutinized for quality or accuracy.
In 2009 CSCOPE was incorporated as a 501(3) (c) non-charitable organization under the TESCCC (Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative). To do this incorporation, no legal counsel was sought from the Texas Attorney General’s office or from the Commissioner of Education/Texas Education Agency.
Each Texas teacher in a CSCOPE district had to sign a contract with CSCOPE – a full page of legal descriptions binding the teacher not to reveal the content of CSCOPE to anyone outside the school. The teachers were not allowed to copy the contract nor secure legal counsel to interpret the content. The general feeling among teachers across Texas is that they dislike CSCOPE intensely because it does not prepare their students academically for the new End-of-Course tests and the under-lining Marxist agenda.
Texas children are not being taught about the great men and women who sacrificed their lives for this country nor are they taught that these sacrifices attribute to the FREEDOM we have been so fortunate to enjoy. This will also be the case in the CCCS.
Current textbooks and various foreign curriculums’ being offered today are filled with indoctrination information regarding pro-Islamic, anti-Christian view. Students around this country would be much better served with studying the lives of great men such as Christopher Columbus, George Washington, and Abe Lincoln rather than playing violent video games.
In the 6th grade curriculum of CSCOPE the writers felt it more important that students chronicle Islamic Scholar Ibn Battuta’s pilgrimage to Mecca and Mohammad’s tomb in Medina. The fact that CSCOPE is pushing a pro-Islamic view is indisputable. Time after time their agenda is exposed, and as soon as it is, CSCOPE Reps run to pull the exposed material with a flip of a switch (due to it being an online curriculum).
One Texas County spent $1.7 million to expand CSCOPE this year. They couldn’t find the pennies necessary to provide the students with Zaner-Bloser handwriting books, but they were able to come up with over a million for something for which they have absolutely no need, or worse yet, something positively harmful. On top of that, the classrooms are full of textbooks that no one is using! More money wasted.
Parents all over America need to be extremely watchful to make sure your child is not using this Virtual curriculum and you would also do well to make sure you understand exactly what is happening with the Common Core Curriculum Standards (CCCS). http://www.truthabouteducation.org/did-you-know.html
Fortunately Texans are waking up and with pressure from parents and teachers alike. Private citizens have dug out the truth about CSCOPE and there are many concerned about the indoctrination of our children. They have even managed to gather copies of the original intent as to the indoctrination of the Texas children.
Lawmakers recently decided they want to rein in the CSCOPE controversial public school curriculum content and management system that at one point taught “Allah is God.”
Testimony given to the Texas legislators was un-nerving to say the least. When classroom teachers, parents, or the general public testified, they gave some very emotional testimony.
A veteran Algebra teacher told of having to quit his teaching job recently because he was required to teach CSCOPE. He said he could not look his students in the eyes, knowing that he was “aiding and abetting ignorance…and giving them an allusion of an education.”
A well-credentialed education researcher, who works with many Texas school districts and who intensely dislikes CSCOPE, said she had had doors slammed in her face when she sought to uncover the ideology behind CSCOPE. She said teachers are afraid to speak out about the content of the CSCOPE lessons and the links that students are directed to investigate. Several of these links take students to sites where Wiccans are said to be similar to Christians and where Islam and Christianity are harmonized as being similar.
A current classroom teacher of 30 years’ experience told about being offended with the lesson in which students were required to make a Communist/Socialist flag. She said her father had proudly fought in World War II to keep our nation free and that our students should be taught American exceptionalism. She also said that CSCOPE content teaches none of the great novels and does not teach the young readers a systematic approach to reading using phonics. She complained that CSCOPE instead teaches whole language and that there is no formal instruction of grammar, usage, and correct writing.
The Texas committee’s consensus appeared to focus on the fact that parents and the public have not been allowed access to CSCOPE instructional materials. The committee also argued that Texas’ TESCCC (CSCOPE’s de facto parent company) is funded with state dollars, and therefore, CSCOPE content “belongs to the people of Texas.”
One witness asked why the TESCCC was incorporated as a non-profit. Was it to be able to hide the content of CSCOPE from the public? Was it to keep their meetings, minutes, and agendas secret? And on taxpayer $$! Sounds a little like what is happening with Charter Schools!
Parents anytime anything is offered to your children whether it is through their school classroom teachings or at home Virtual school – you need to find out if it is proprietary – which means once the school district accepts the program/curriculum THEY HAVE NO SAY NOR DO YOU, THE PARENTS.
CSCOPE is proprietary as is the International Baccalaureate Program (IB). Not the districts nor the parents have any say in what is taught and in fact, if the truth be known, schools districts who participate in IB have no idea what is in the curriculum, syllabuses presented or in the textbooks. Taxpayers just pay but have no say. CSCOPE has tried this but the parents are waking up.
Do you understand that is taxation without representation?
Too bad legislators all over the country do not feel the same way about the Communist United nations International Baccalaureate Program.
Take heed parents as what you are hearing about CSCOPE since in many ways it also applies to the Common Core Standards and we need to be questioning our legislators as to why they were willing to participate in this program knowing nothing about it. Even some private schools are thinking of implementing the CCCS in their schools and you need to be asking the same question – WHY?
The corruption, mis-information, cronyism and outright lies regarding any and all curriculum’s being offered to our children today are out of control. Big business has their hands in their also and that should be a clear sign to you to be alert.
Also, Charter Schools are going to be participating in the CCCS. We need to work together across the country in sharing information and keeping parents informed.
NEFARIOUS ACTIONS DIRECTED AT OUR CHILDREN –
What is Nefarious? Webster’s Dictionary describes Nefarious as evil, immoral, unethical, deceitful, unrighteous, wrong, a scheme to cheat.
What is Racist? A person or group of persons who believe that race is the primary determinant of human traits and the capacity to achieve.
Before I go any further I want to make it perfectly clear I am white, female, conservative who has never belonged to a Union nor am I an educator, but a researcher.
Who are those who sit on the Florida State School Board? Seven appointed individuals whose control over our children has reached a new low – so low that I am having a hard time finding words to address the fact they would actually set the goals for our students in math and reading based upon their race.
What form of nefarious action is this? With the exception of Dr. Desai, an Indian-American (from India – not American Indian) the balance of the board is White! What in the world are they thinking in regards to the decisions they have made in regard to our children’s futures?
By whose agenda are they operating? Certainly not that of parents or the futures of the children!
This past week the FL. State School Board passed a revised strategic plan that states that by 2018, they want 90 percent of Asian students, 88 percent of White students, 81 percent of Hispanics and 74 percent of Black students to be reading at or above grade level. For math, the goals are 92 percent of Asian kids to be proficient, Whites at 86 percent, Hispanics at 80 percent and Blacks at 74 percent. They also intend to measure the success and failure of our students by poverty and disabilities.
If this is all these Board members have to offer our children then maybe it is time to get rid of the State Board of Education. We are far too top heavy anyway and their advice is doing nothing but making things worse. They certainly have not offered any constructive advice or suggestions in improving the “lack luster” status of the education in Florida.
I will again remind parents that a large percentage of our graduating students who go on to college (including white ones) must take remedial Reading and Math courses before advancing to another level. Why are we graduating students who cannot read? Why can’t our students read?
Who is the leadership of Florida’s education? Our past 2 Commissioners of Education, Eric Smith and Gerard Robinson were at the same time “Chief’s for Change” on Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education.
What about the State School Board? Just who are they?
Kathleen Shanahan – URETER/Agenda 21 Co, serves on Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education – Fund Raiser for Jeb Bush Foundations
Gary R. ChartrandEx. Chairman for KIPP, Inc., founder of the failed KIPP Jacksonville Charter School
Dr. Desai – Cardiologist – Pres. & CEO of Universal Healthcare
Sally BradshawJeb Bush Chief of Staff Jan 1999 – 2001; Jeb Bush Campaign Mgr. 93-94 & 97-98; Jeb Bush Foundation for FL Future Exe. Dir. 95-97; Bush-Quayle Campaign FL Office Exe. Dir. 1992; Bush-Quayle Campaign DC Office Staff Assistant 1988 – there is more but I think you get the picture as to where her allegiance lies
John Padgett – Padgett Investment firm; Monroe County Education Foundation of which is part of the Florida Consortium of Florida Education Foundations to pull businesses into our education system.
Barbara Feingold – VP MCNA Healthcare
Roberto Martinez – Attorney
Does anyone see any EDUCATORS ON THE FLORIDA STATE SCHOOL BOARD? Someone please tell me the agenda of this board and to whom at least half of them owe allegiance? It is pretty clear to me!
Parents are angry as well they should be and it is about time. What they are not seeing is the well laid out plan to turn our Education system into a Charter School base with unelected boards taking control of their schools and away from parents/taxpayers and it will ultimately lead to higher taxes because the Charter Schools are removing the financial base from the public schools. At the same time a large percentage of our Charter Schools are failing because of the lenient legislation that has been passed in Tallahassee by a majority of “non-educators” under the leadership of Jeb Bush!
You might find it interesting to do your own research and not take my word for it to find out how many of our FL legislators also are making financial gains from Charter schools while serving on Jeb Bush’s Foundations. I thought we were paying them to work for the taxpayers?
JUST HOW MANY MASTERS DO YOU BELIEVE A PERSON CAN SERVE AT ONE TIME EFFECTIVELY? I believe this is what partially played a role in Gerard Robinson resigning early.
Chairwoman Kathleen Shanahan would have you believe that setting goals for different subgroups was needed to comply with terms of a waiver that Florida and 32 other states have from some provisions of the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Well, if this was part of the game rules for Florida accepting the money to play the Race To The Top (RTTT) game, then why in the world did they sell out our children’s futures knowing they were going to have to do something as “nefarious” as this? MONEY!
Do you really understand Ms. Shanahan what you have done?  You have once again told our Black children that you anticipate they are going to fail, not succeed, so you are going to set the goal lower for them than the other children? You have basically told them they are failures before they start which is what the education system has been doing for years!
Over 30 years ago Charlotte Iserbyt tried to tell America there was a “Dumbing Down of America” in the works and it would be through our education system and it appears they are succeeding. What could possibly be the reason for our State or Federal government to want to set standards by race?
The Florida Department of Education said the goals recognize that not every group is starting from the same point and are meant to be ambitious but realistic. No, what they are doing is setting them up for failure because they are “labeling” our children.
Why are we following our children by race in the FCAT results anyway? What difference does that make if you are going to continue to single the different races out by race rather than accomplishments as a whole? What is actually going to happen is once the Common Core Standards are in place all your children’s information is going to be going into that National Data Base and the information is to follow your children.
Never forget the first time our children were used as a pawn in Florida was when Jeb Bush started the very first Charter school in South Florida as a ploy to look good to the “black community” “to win votes” and after he was elected he never looked back at this failed school nor in questioning years later claimed to not even remember the name of the school.
Parents you must take the control of our schools back out of the hands of non-educators who are supposed to be working for the betterment of our children. What they have done is sell them down the “preverbal river” by selling them out to Race To The Top (the new version of NCLB) and the coming of the Common Core Standards actually written by a non-educator.
We need to continue to educate every child with the same expectations, regardless of their race, background or beginnings and call for the replacement of the members of the Florida State Board of Education or do away with the Board all together. And please, do not let them lead you down the path of “WE NEED MORE MONEY!” What they need to do is make better use of the money they are receiving and start from the top down – most of the money is NOT going to our children but to Administration.
Actually the education some received in the 50’s and 60’s produced some really intelligent individuals of ALL races, but no, the state and federal government continues to think we have to change the curriculum every 2 years, tweak it here, bring in foreign education, textbooks that lie, focus on global and green agenda’s and all the while absolutely no accountability from the top and at the same time PLAY THE RACE CARD!
JEBNATION!!!!!
I discovered this morning there is a group of hard working ladies in Orlando who are working to preserve our public school system here in Florida against Jeb Bush’s push and influence toward the for profit” Charter and Voucher type system.  They have named it “JEBNATION!”  I like the name except it does give me a feeling that it is also giving him a “rank” or “superiority.”
Followers of my blog or who have heard me speak, know I have never been easy on Jeb Bush for I believe his “best interests” are his and not those of our children. Bush and others are fully aware of what the NCLB changes to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act would do to our children. It was the ground work for what he is currently doing. You know how I know that?
Just this past Friday I received another e-mail from Charlotte Iserbyt – you know her!  Our Guardian Angel who tried to warn us many years ago in her book “The Dumbing Down of America”. The book warned us about the well laid out plan to convert this country to Communism and the way to do that was through the “Dumbing Down” of our children through their LACK of Education, using curriculum’s that have slowly converted their minds to the socialistic way of thinking. They have almost succeeded. Charlotte presented her findings to Reagan in the 80’s and was fired from her position within the Federal DOE.
Why do you think they want to remove history prior to 1865 from our History books?  Because people who have no attachment to their country’s past also have no allegiance to it’s future.
The Friday e-mail from Charlotte pointed out to me what had been included in a study that was being done by some Harvard “intellectuals” regarding the effects Social Studies could have on our children and the changes to be placed upon the county would also include a “charter” type of schools. This was 1934! She sent me the original!
The ladies from the group “FundEducationNow” are very concerned about education or lack of, but they believe that money is going to fix it. It is not! When we as a state continue to:
  • Feed our children a curriculum that falls very short – “garbage in, garbage out”
  • Follow a faulty State Constitution that gives total control to the District Boards
  • Purchase faulty textbooks faulting Judeo/Christian beliefs in favor of Islam
  • Allow foreign, global, communistic curriculum’s into the classrooms with absolutely no oversight
  • Weaken the oversight of Charter and Virtual schools not being aware of where the programs are coming from
  • Legislators serving on Education Committees who know nothing about Education, nor are they Educators
  • Legislators who have financial interest in Charter School Consortium’s voting on Charter legislation
  • Fund BILLIONS of dollars to the International Baccalaureate Program with no reports of accountability or success
  • Have a Commissioner of Education who is a Jeb Bush “Chief’s for Change”  serving 2 masters and I do believe “JEBNATION” is number one.
  • Continue to place the majority of Charter schools in “low income” areas so when they fail guess who they blame
  • Allowing failing Charter schools to continue 2 & 3 years with a D or F grade before closing
What we do need to do is:
  • Wake up the parents and help them understand “everything is NOT alright!”
  • Insist as taxpayers we want NCLB, RTTT and the CCS removed from the state education system
  • Allow us to implement the Texas curriculum standards which are rated the best in the country – we have  them
  • Purchase true History books for our children to learn from and insist the Constitution be taught
  •  Remove all forms of Global education from our schools
  •  Tighten up the oversight of all Charter and Virtual school programs
  •  Leave parents who choose to Home School alone regarding their choices
  • Find a Commissioner of Education who is concerned about Florida’s children
  • Place some strict oversight on the FL State School Board by a civilian committee
  • Change the FL Constitution removing total control from the local school districts and add “term limits” to insure the School Board positions do not become a political game
  • And pray the unions will take care of union business rather than telling teachers to teach liberal, communistic agenda i.e.,  “communism is better than capitalism”.
Jeb Bush may view his policies as tough love, but I personally see it as a manipulative move to control Education for profit. Bill Gates and Jeb Bush are spending an awful lot of money on this issue to get the Charter, Virtual and Voucher ideas in place but with far less oversight then is placed on the public schools. Hence we are now riddled with Charter school scandals all over the country (FL’s has grown considerable since Oct 2011).  Strange bedfellows these two considering Gates political agenda in regard to the lies of Global warming and an Obama supporter.
In addition here in FL., with our legislators knowing nothing about Education, what and how much we are spending on International Baccalaureate (“I didn’t know” – why don’t they know when they are sitting on the Education Appropriations Committee?), walking around with STARS in their eyes at the mention of Jeb Bush’s name, political and financial links to Charter school consortium’s and when parents complain, the House legal eagle George Levesque decides he sees “no conflict of interest”.  Who is George Levesque besides the House attorney? Patricia Levesque’s husband and she is – Jeb Bush’s Chief of Staff for his Foundation for Excellence in Education and was his 2nd in command when he was governor and she also is the owner of one of the largest lobbying companies in Florida in line with the liberal Michelle Rhee in pushing Charter Schools and School Choice.
Now we have the one great big family here in Florida who are being used as an example to the rest of the country in our set up failure.  Let me put it another way – –
Jeb Bush was governor of Florida when his brother, the president, put in place the NCLB system for all the country. They knew it was a system for failure but Jeb Bush told us it would be the best thing since peanut butter. Now he tells us for profit, he has the remedy for what he helped put in place to ruin education AND remembering he is no more an EDUCATOR than David Coleman who Bill Gates hired to write the Common Core Standards.
Oh and the money games with our Education budget – Charlie Crist nor Rick Scott or anyone else in Tally really read all the requirements to RTTT and CCS. Surprised? AFTER they got the money then they were told now you have to provide the software (MICROSOFT) to input all the information about our children into, hire the extra people to do it and buy all the computers to use for the new people and on and on and on we go!
FL legislators have been begged to opt out, but . . . .
Yes money is our problem. but not in the way you think. It is about greed, control, selfishness and the final ruination of the Education system in this country. If money was the fix-all, then Hillsborough County, FL should really be on the very top of the state since they are the only ones who received $100M from Bill Gates in 2007 to improve the teacher accountability and scores. It has not and in fact, from a parents standpoint it is the worst district in the state when it comes to education.
And by the way, remember Hillsborough County’s superintendent is one of Jeb Bush’s girl’s and the merry-go-round continue’s. . . .
