Big Business and Unelected Technocrats Controlling American Education

nclbIf you are a person who follows the news everyday whether it is on TV, radio, internet or the few and far between newspapers I doubt seriously you find much written about the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) or the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College Careers & College (PARCC) in the mainline news. You ask, “Why should I care about them?”  Mostly because the Common Core State Standards are in effect set to “dumb down” your children and take the control of raising your children out of your hands. And you will have absolutely NOTHING to say about it. 

The initial motivation for the development of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) was part of the American Diploma Project (ADP) of which they made up what they thought the requirements of graduation should be and what the students should be ready for.

Now it is true for the most part you don’t have a big say in your child’s education already since the local school districts, unelected State School Boards and your State Dept. of Education along with your legislators have most of the control. It is just your money that pays them for ruining your children’s futures.

So how has this monster been put in place?

Technically it stated a long time ago but for the purpose of this article we will say in was in 1964 when President Johnson signed the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and then it was followed by President Jimmy Carter putting in place the Federal Department of Education. A lot happened in between and there has been so much legislation passed in regard to education, you have no idea.

For the past twenty years in the U.S. there has been what is called the “Accountability Movement”, by Progressives as the states are being held to mandatory tests of student achievement, which are expected to demonstrate a common core of knowledge that all citizens should have to be successful in this country.

As part of this overarching education reform movement, the nation’s governors and corporate leaders founded Achieve, Inc. in 1996 as a bi-partisan organization to raise academic standards, graduation requirements, improve assessments, and strengthen accountability in all 50 states. Achieve, Inc. is no different than any of these other corporate who’s who with their loaded boards.  One of those board members you might be interested in is Jeff Wadsworth who owns Battelle in Columbus, OH. When you feel your research juices working go check him out – put in inquiries re his company and add chemtrails to the inquiry.

Never forget that most of the legal eagles/legislators in this country not only are not educators who be putting themselves in the position of controlling your child’s education and futures, but as one of the writers of the CCSS David Coleman once said upon being ask about his education background he replied, “I did once attend PSA 43”. He is also a smart mouth!

The corporations supporting this non-elected group are a who’s who of business in America and most of them are very left leaning – not all, just most. Backs up my theory this is not one party over the other – they are both involved in this in a big way because the road sign has $$$$ on it.

Now in Florida and other states the big push has been for Accountability.  This means the compensation of teachers should be based on student performance.  Most parents and taxpayers would agree with this statement until they know all the facts. Upon closer examination of the testing complexity headed to the states participating in the CCSS, there should be all kinds of red flags going off and you should be asking one heck of a lot of questions of a lot of people. Let me know please if you get any straight answers in detail.

Those pushing the CCSS will tell you they are “state-led” in an attempt to make you believe your legislators put this on your doorstep. If your state was one of the 45 participating in this madness in 2007 it was in fact the National Governors Assoc. Center for Best Practices (your governor) (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) (your state commissioner of education).  All this was done without legislative approval and now your states are rushing to get legislation in place to cover “you know what” without learning about CCSS or the implications from the experts in the field of education.

PARCC, Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career, which is an organization which is to oversee the development of its next generation assessments and one of the companies that is going to get paid a whole lot of your hard earned money. Just 2 weeks ago they were also granted 501 C (3) status. Everyone is hiding!

For starters, a look at the PARCC test samples for the CCSS shows kindergarten students (five-year olds) are expected to write full topic sentences as proof of their college readiness and to measure their teachers’ worth.. Gone are the days when kindergarten meant learning your ABC’s, shapes and numbers. (You are expected to already have your children in legislated Pre-K) You have to be either laughing or scratching your head!

10th-graders will be tested on understanding and responding to a text such as “…The unconfined skies remain though Minos may be lord of the entire world his scepter is not regnant of the air and by that untried way is our escape.” I don’t know about you, but the arcane language of Ovid doesn’t strike me as critical for college entry, a career or global readiness.

Then the “research simulation” task for third-graders expects them to analyze several articles or multimedia stimuli, and write not one, but two analytic essays to prove they can synthesize information from multiple sources. I personally cannot imagine an 8-year-old being able to write one let alone two analytic essays citing examples from sources and this requirement is also over the top.

Recently, 50 public officials in Rhode Island took a shortened version of their high school graduation test based on the CCSS. These officials are successful adults, many with college degrees. Test results indicated that 78 percent did not meet proficiency targets, with 60 percent of them ineligible for a diploma. Sen. Adam Satchell, one of the test-takers, commented, “The content is outrageously irrelevant and it is irresponsible and morally indefensible to be attaching high stakes consequences to a test like this.”

Professor Jonathan Goodman of New York University found that the CCSS math standards imposed “significantly lower expectations with respect to algebra and geometry than the published standards of other countries” yet we are supposed to be implementing this farce to bring our education standards UP to meet those countries standards.

Once again with the Federal government involved it will become a mess and in fact it is a mess before they start.  The experts are trying to tell them so and the legislators are not taking the time to learn what this mess is or even to DEMAND that there be a test period somewhere in the country. Pick a few districts (not all in the low-income areas like they always do) to test this out. You have to feel sorry for these kids that cannot protect themselves from this evil witchery!

In fact, since every state is going to be doing the same thing at the same time they have eliminated the need for state comparisons. No state has any reason left to aspire for first-rate standards, as all states will be judged by the same mediocre national benchmark enforced by the federal government.

Taxpayers may not be aware that all PARCC assessments will be done on a computer, and that most of the districts in my state (as well as the nation) currently do not have the needed infrastructure in place for these tests. Already cash-strapped districts will have to purchase millions of dollars of new technology to comply with PARCC requirements. In fact, the plan is for all future testing to be done online, with “intelligent software” measuring student thinking, virtually shutting teachers out of the assessment process making them no more than “classroom monitors.”

Taxpayers likely are also unaware that a majority of the members of the PARCC Assessment Group have ties to ALEC and Jeb Bush’s Chiefs for Change. Or that the educational arm of Rupert Murdoch’s media conglomerate, AMPLIFY, just won a $12.5 million contract from the U.S. Department of Education to develop Common Core materials.

Yes, this is the same Murdoch who was at the center of the Newscorp phone-hacking scandal last year. What’s more, the head of AMPLIFY, Joel Klein, left his job in disgrace as New York chancellor of education when rampant test manipulation under his watch was revealed. How is it that the Department of Education awarded this group with a multi-million-dollar contract to “help teachers” with the CCSS? Surprised? The more one investigates “education reform” the more evident the profit-driven corporate takeover of public education becomes.

Before we rush headlong into tying teacher compensation to test scores, or hold back third-graders who aren’t “proficient” in reading, we had better ensure that said tests are valid indicators of what our students are capable of, as well as what our dedicated teachers accomplish in the classroom every single day. Perhaps we should insist that all state legislators and Education Secretaries/Commissioners follow Rhode Island’s example. Before enacting education legislation, require them to take the very tests we expect students to pass in order to graduate, and then publish the results.

Univ. of Arkansas professor Sandra Stotsky stated, “Common Core’s standards not only present a serious threat to state and local education authority, but also put academic quality at risk. By pushing fatally flawed education standards into America’s schools is not the way to improve education for America’s students.”

The purpose is clear – this plan is to bring education under the watchful eyes of legislators and businessmen and the goal is for the Progressives to be able to implement their Communist “dumbing down” of our children into a lie they want them to be college and global ready. In fact by giving them this tripe to learn by, they will fulfill the plan of the Communist Agenda i.e., Manifesto of the “school-to-work” program used by all Communist countries in the past. It is through a generation of indoctrinating our children they will accomplish this without most Americans even knowing what has happened.

And I haven’t even gotten into them referring to our children as “HUMAN CAPITAL”.

We gave our children “being put into daycares at 6 weeks old with strangers and then off to spend their days with more total strangers (their teachers), computers and Gameboys that taught them how to kill without feeling and movies that said you don’t have to mind your parents, it is ok to get pregnant, have an abortion and do whatever “feels” good!  Just who do you think manipulated this whole process?

At the 1989 Governor’s Conference in Kansas, Secretary Alexander claimed, “The brand new American school would be year-round, open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., for children 3 months to 18 years.” Yeah, cradle to grave indoctrination! (Sounds like Cuba).

Since I began doing research on items other than genealogy I am more and more convinced Senator McCarthy was not crazy. He drank because of all the knowledge in his head and I have days I would really like to just get into a fetal position and go to sleep.

Evil prevails in our country. Anyone, man or woman, who chooses to use children for their personal gains or gratification, I can think of no punishment great enough. And when they do it as “moneychangers”, well, I will leave that up to God.

    1 Who is evaluating the tests MAKERS?
    2 Who is making $$ from the testing, new programs like Common Core
    makes me sick
    the kids are over-tested..everyone in education is unhappy

    • The players such as Bill Gates, Jeb Bush, Michelle Rhee and those of the NWO and ones who are just plain greedy that’s who. And the answer to your first question is NO because they don’t care except if it is to turn our children into “zombie’s” and “dumb down” our children all with the lies about international benchmarking and globally matched. “DOUBLESPEAK!”
