As a Christian, Conservative American who has now chosen to forgo party affiliation of any kind (previously Republican), I am rather going to focus on the person – his or her values and who they are and what they stand for.
Mr. Curry, as the head of the Republican Party of Florida, you have a “duty” to respond to the taxpayers and supporters of your party as to what you think went wrong – not a letter as to how we need “to ensure we’re focusing ourselves and our resources in the most effective and efficient way.” You told us you had all the answers this year and yet the Party always chooses to ignore suggestions from the very people you are supposed to be serving!
I believe the 2 Party systems or any party system has been influential in bringing this country to her knees. Continually placing Americans at odds with each and trying to prove which candidate is better than the other by creating internal wars of pitting Americans against Americans is morally wrong. You place yourself above the common working individuals in this country and at the same time ask for our money to support whom “you” chose to become the candidates and then in the end, continually chose to ignore the voters whose votes and money you so charmingly beg for.
Many of our Founders did not believe in the 2 Party systems or any party system for that matter and George Washington was very clear about the subject. Many would have us believe the Founders were nothing special and the Constitution as a “living, breathing document” so that it can be changed with no guilt feelings. I feel it is important for you to read Washington’s words.
Political parties did not exist in 1789 and Washington despised the idea of political associations, formed in such a way as to pit one group of citizens against another. In his farewell speech in 1796 he said:
. . .”While speaking on the subject — The very idea of the power and the right of the people to establish Government presupposes the duty of every individual to obey the established Government.”
“All obstructions to the execution of the Laws, all combinations and associations, under whatever plausible character, with the real design to direct, control, counteract, or awe the regular deliberation and action of the constituted authorities, are destructive of this fundamental principle, and of fatal tendency. They, political parties, serve to organize faction, to give it an artificial and extraordinary force; to put, in the place of the delegated will of the nation, the will of a party, often a small but artful and enterprising minority of the community; and, according to the alternate triumphs of different parties, to make the public administration the mirror of the ill-concerted and incongruous projects of faction, rather than the organ of consistent and wholesome plans digested by common counsels, and modified by mutual interests.
“However combinations or associations of the above description may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely, in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people, and to usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwards the very engines, which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
And let us not forget Mr. Curry, there are cunning, ambitious and unprincipled men on both sides of the parties!
For myself, I believe we have gone so far away from our intended election process that it is now permissible to lie, lay in bed with self-serving lobbyists, ignore the taxpayers and their wishes (they only pay your salaries and benefits) and as has been proven in several cases, stand in front of a camera and act like enemies and after the interview go to dinner together. It is a game – a political game aimed at ruining this country. You and your counterparts may be fooling yourselves that what you are doing is for the “good” of the people – but the actions of both PARTIES has gotten us to this point – living under a dictatorship, placing America under Communism efforts with the United Nations pulling all the strings while you acknowledge global warming and all the legislation & spending that goes with it – ruining our children by allowing foreign communist curriculum’s into our schools and Islamic favored textbooks and neglecting legislation we have begged for – Nullification, Protection Against Obama Care – all the protections the people of this state have been asking for. However, when the taxpayers offer to “educate” politicians who “know not of what they speak” – we are ignored.
The very fact legislators think they know better than the common man or woman in areas that they have no knowledge or experience and pass legislations because some lobbyist wants it – well it does boggle the mind! We should have fired every incumbent but the PARTY ensures the voters they are backing the good people. Well, the voting here in Tallahassee and in DC for the past 4 years shows “we the people” none of you know what you are doing. The attitude of the Florida legislators in working with the taxpayers over the past few years does my heart no good in knowing we still maintain a “majority.” Your legislators act like “we work for them.”
Or maybe you do know what you are doing – giving us candidates who will be willing to play your games!
For me – you Mr. Curry and all your Party friends on both sides of the table are guilty of the ruination of America. Stand up like a man and admit you guys have really screwed up! I hope you can sleep at night because most of the people who pay your salary certainly are not!
And one more thing – you have probably been educated in the very school systems you are supporting and approving to use to indoctrinate our children in the ways of communism and a One World Order! You certainly do not use good sense of source of information in your acts and decisions. You should be hanging your head in shame!
